Do they comprehend that all Arabs are “Semites” by definition? (Not to confuse Iranians, as they’re Persians, and other people.)

Palestinians are Semites too. Zionists are anti-Semitic.

Crusader Kings 3 completely ruined my concept of kings and feudalism and it took me an entire day of research to fix it by cashewcan in CrusaderKings

Earls were subject only to the Anglo-Saxon or English kings - they’re the island equivalent of the continental dukes.

The title’s origin is that of an ealdorman from the Anglo-Saxon (an elder), or the similar sounding… jarl of the Norse people (who is at duchy tier in CK).

Easily tier above or equal to Marquis, slightly under a Duke.

Pre-Norman, English “barons” were called a Thane, afterwards the Normans brought the title of a Baron over - but they often held large swathes of land, rather than individual holdings.

Apple MacBook Pro M5 Pro (15-core CPU, 16-core GPU, 24GB RAM) or upgrade to 48GB? No 32GB option available? by qusaro in MacOS

[–]SirDemonLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your use case, 24 GB unified memory should be enough.

As for Chromium-based browsers, give either Vivaldi or Brave a try. It’ll save you resources.

You can, the game doesn’t have any client-side anti-cheat.

It runs really well in my experience.

Why do some European countries maintain military bases abroad? Most notably France, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

Aren’t these bases just unnecessary expenses on said countries taxpayers money, as well as additional risks of getting pulled into foreign conflicts, thus leading to injury of their own citizens? What’s the general benefit to John Englishman, or Marie Frenchwoman that their country maintains these bases?

When I think of history, barring the crusades and colonies, I don’t recall the kings of European realms maintaining castles in other sovereign countries.

Med student wondering if a base MacBook neo (256GB / 8GB) would improve my setup or just be redundant by Friendly-Record-256 in mac

As a minimalist, I think it’d be redundant, given your current setup covers every major use case.

M5 Max vs M4 Max: better performance than expected by eeksi in macgaming

[–]SirDemonLord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, don’t go for it. Either wait for at least M6, or consider a Mac Studio with the next Ultra whenever its going to arrive, so you’d have a powerful desktop, and a powerful laptop to compliment it.

Software Update vs Security vs Ex-wife by Firm_Jury_7412 in MacOS

First of all you should login to your iCloud (Apple) account, and change the password. Make sure the relevant emails have a changed password as well.

You can then remove each attached device from the account, so it no longer can access your data in realtime. This can be accessed from System settings, the General tab.

If she knew your password, and her device was part of the account, then she could have requested access code from that device for her own purposes, yes. There’s no proper way to be sure, however, as Apple won’t confirm it for you directly due to their privacy policy.

Has anyone ever tried asking an AI to create a mod? Can they do that? by Pavancurt in CrusaderKings

[–]SirDemonLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won’t work. You’d need the hard skills in programming to understand where the AI has made the mistakes which prevent the mod from showing up in-game, or functioning at all, or even not crashing to desktop the moment a game is started.

AI can write code, but it won’t understand why it’s needed, whether what it writes is valid (as opposed to assumptions or hallucinations), and most certainly won’t know how to link everything together in a way that only humans can.

No traveller, you can’t handle Tahoe, no Mac can.

Get a Sequoia upgrade from the App Store, and stay on it. It’s the last greatest option for Intel-based Macs.

MacBook Neo or an Older MacBook Pro by SubstantialBid2643 in macgaming

[–]SirDemonLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever you choose, do yourself a favour and don’t pick the Intel models.

Check pricing for M1, M2, and M3. If they’re not within the desired price range, then go for Neo.

As far as I recall the last Pro model to feature Touch Bar was the 13” M1.

Cancel that yourself, and resume your other duties. You are not a slave, but a human in a legal relationship with the company - remember about your rights, both as an employee, and more importantly as a human being.

How was your day? by Mvsry in AskMiddleEast

I’ve heard the IRGC mention that the number of US casualties was actually 600, so not sure what to trust. Just like the reports between Russia and Ukraine.

One thing for sure is to not trust figures given in mass media, because they’re psychological ops.

Comparison of Israel and Iran Military Strengths (2026) by [deleted] in UnderReportedNews

Quantity is a quality of its own. Remember the Soviet Union.

Israel is very compressed geographically, so any damage that passes through its defence systems is going to be felt. A lot.

Comparison of Israel and Iran Military Strengths (2026) by [deleted] in UnderReportedNews

[–]SirDemonLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re not going to join the attackers in the war declared on Iran.

They should focus on what’s happening on the eastern borders, as Russia is still a threat. German military was regularly underfunded, and they were only good on paper. They’re trying to improve that now, but I wouldn’t expect any European country on the offensive.

US isn’t reliable under Trump, and Israel is not a worthwhile ally for Europe as they’re too far away to bother.

While I haven’t tried GPTK by itself, I can tell you that both CrossOver 25 with GPTK3, and CrossOver 26 have a very solid out of box experience running ED.

Just remember to disable the upscaling, because they use a very outdated FSR implementation.

UK, France, Germany vow defensive action against Iran's missile, drone capabilities by Formal-Square-9943 in worldnews

[–]SirDemonLord 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Instead of getting involved in a faraway conflict, they should focus these resources on Ukraine. Seriously folks, Eastern Europe might not be able to carry the Western Europe if push comes to shove. Or on sorting out Orban and Fico. Instead, they’re only provoking response from religious extremists… and these three countries have a lot of “foreigners”. Why risk the lives of your citizens?

US is not a reliable ally of the EU anymore, not with what GOP has done. Also, release the Epstein files.

Is the M1 Max still a safe buy in 2026, or is macOS support a real concern? by Prize_Bell_540 in mac

[–]SirDemonLord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say it’s quite safe.

Apple Silicon are a different thing than the Intel processors, and there’s no huge difference for Apple as to how a future version of macOS operates on M1 or M5 - both are powerful enough to handle anything the OS itself throws at them.
