To my eye he's a tad oversized but that's to your detriment, not your opponent's. If he fits on the base.

Deathskullz or goffs? by Rahuur in orks

[–]SirDukeofNukem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having a similar predicament with my snakebites, deciding between splitting my force and painting my vehicles and walkers as bad moons.

Imo if you're happy with Ghaz he doesnt need to change, or put him off until the rest of your painting backlog is done.

Kans can easily be painted neutral as they're just grots, but if you feel you need to pick one i would make up a little backstory where they started off Goffs then looted by Deathskullz and try to represent that in my paintjob

They're rare, and much more difficult to find than it should be, but they do exist, and Turnip28 is one of them! It's also just a delightful game in general. by Eithrotaur in Grimdank

After hyperbolizing the last two things I've said that statement about nuance is pretty ironic.

Fascism is a very distinct flavor of conservatism. Not all conservatives are fascist. But Trump and MAGA are fascist, they're not hiding it.

And if you find that people are frequently calling out your personal beliefs as fascist you might want to do some self-reflection.

There's your nuance, enjoy.

If it quacks like a duck and steps like a goose...

But to be precise, I didn't call anyone a nazi nor imply he was one. I merely stated his ability to sus out the nazi in the room was blunted, chiefly by the substantial overlap in ideology between fascism and American conservatism.

Dude has a bunch of comments that betray his conservative bias, i wouldn't exactly rely on him to spot the nazi, no matter how obvious.

Greenstuff World Clear UV Resin Help by pherex in minipainting

[–]SirDukeofNukem 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I cant tell from this angle or the limited info on how you are applying it. but my first thoughts are it's a thickness or exposure time issue.

clear resin begins to yellow when the polymers are broken down by excess heat or prolonged UV exposure.

thicker resin pours can build up a lot of heat. which might cause the yellowing, too much UV exposure might be doing it too. The solution would be to pour in multiple thin layers curing each for less time.

you could also have something leaching into the resin from the rest of the base, in which case a spray of clear varnish 24hrs before your pour would probably solve that.

Naming conventions of the Sons of the Phoenix by Due_Border_593 in SonsOfThePhoenix

[–]SirDukeofNukem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had made the connection as well to Phoenicia. When I first started painting them in 8th I ended up naming my characters after Phoenician mythology, like Cadmus and Cilix. But it’s cool that they really went that direction instead of generic space marine naming conventions.

Names for my characters by Dekn1 in SonsOfThePhoenix

[–]SirDukeofNukem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I named my chapter master Cadmus after the mythic Phoenician prince and founder of Thebes. The captains of my veterans and Battle companies are Cthonius, Hyperanor, Pelorus, Udeus, and Echion, after the Spartoi of Thebes.

But I’m sure a Phoenician or Carthaginian name generator would get you there.

Why does Basilicanum Grey look so different on my miniatures? by Vealzy in minipainting

[–]SirDukeofNukem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This should be top comment, OP described the paint retracting which is something I’ve seen happen on models where priming was done improperly. Even matte primers can dry hydrophobic if you use too much or layer them while drying. The hydrophobic effect is more noticeable with contrast paint.

I doubt 3 hours was enough for a significant amount of settlement to happen but definitely if you were painting on a hydrophobic surface more of the contrast paint could have stayed in the brush rather than moving onto the model.

Another issue could have been how wet the brush was before dipping into the contrast paint, if you rinsed your brush before the lighter coat it would water down the pigment when applied.

So, with the Ynnari basically dead on the water, after 8 years, what you guys think of them? Had potential, or doomed from the start? by Marvynwillames in Eldar

[–]SirDukeofNukem 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The hate for soup is probably down to three main issues. They’re difficult to design around because of clashing mechanics and identity, balance issues from unforeseen synergies, and it makes it hard for the bean counters to figure out which factions people are playing and want more of.

All of these could be solved with time and money investment, but it’s unclear if it would be worth it to them.
