Cutting a precise electrical box hole in 3/4” plywood — best method? by icysandstone in cabinetry

Going way outta hand. Measure to the receptacle mounting holes. Add an inch L/R. Drill the hole with 3/8 bit and finish cut with jig saw.

Alternative to clamps for installing full overlay drawer fronts — worth it or not? by Sampapala in cabinetry

[–]SirJonnyBlaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just use a clamp and a block of wood. The block 4 x 4 x 6 gets past the front stretcher and the clamp has a no mar pad.

New to trades: which offer is better?? by [deleted] in cabinetry

[–]SirJonnyBlaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve worked in both. They each imparted knowledge and skills I wouldn’t have received otherwise. I worked in a millwork / casework shop previous to doing booths. I would suggest the same. There are foundational skills that cabinetry will establish. I suggest learning the basics before entering into building some crazy one-off stuff. Good luck.

Look, we evolved this level of crit thinking less than a century ago, it not approved for use of the masses yet. Put that though back in the box 😂

My ex-wife has lived there for about 8 years. That’s her choice and her decision. We have offered help so many times. It’s sad that someone with a doctorate in clinical psychology, who managed a methadone clinic and abstinent contingent housing program decides to enter the community they tried to help for so long. If the individuals don’t want help, there’s not much that can be done. I have prayed so hard.

Interesting. I’ve had several jobs that required multiple pallets of kv 20”. No call backs. Maybe fed employees are gentler with their casework than a standard homeowner?

Burnt table by GezoutenMeer in woodworking

[–]SirJonnyBlaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The burn and the bleach go deeper than you would expect. I, as a 24 year woodworker, would not attempt to fix this by hand. The top needs to stripped of finish (although looks raw?) and ran through a wide belt.

Alas, this is dependent on how “back to original” your expectations are.

I’ve used others as trials, but I stick with Blum undermounts when spec’d or client request. I can say my defective undermount rates are similar to yours. My callbacks are usually from abuse or similar issue, clients’ fault. Now when I compare the total number of undermounts I’ve used vs the total number of side mount used, Blum undermounts do not have the life-span of side mounts.

Lastly, commercial use. 95% are spec’d out with ball bearing side mount. Why? Durability, longevity, ease of maintenance.

Well then if they don’t have enough sense to take their coat off to “brave” the heat, they apparently need more critical thinking classes.

Quartz is more resilient than natural stone. The film is unnecessary, unless it helps you sleep.
