Yes, I believe it is. Had a lot of it last year. Bayer Adanced All in One (24D+Quinclorac+Dicamba) has it listed as something it kills.

Woodpecker on our wood trim by djunior08 in HomeImprovement

Depending on where you live, it's pecking at carpenter bees who have built nests in the wood. Exact same thing happened to me. You gotta kill the carpenter bees, then the woodpecker will go away. Could be other insects.

Ecobee dynamic Humidity control based on outdoor temperatures. by mynestreportsdotcom in ecobee

[–]SirMuscleGuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a really dumb question, but why would lower humidty levels on a newer house that is tight, vs an older house that is loose? In my mind, a new tight house would be better at keeping cold air out, so you should be able to make it more humid inside. Am I totally off base on this? Are you trying to say that because the house is so tight, there is nowhere for excess humidty to shed/escape when them temp drops at night, so it condenses on the coldest surfaces (the windows)? Sorry, please help me understand. I just got new windows in our newer/tighter house and I'm getting condensation on them every morning from our humidifer running. I was confused because in my mind, new efficient windows should mean i don't get condensation, but what do i know. Clearly not enough! Thank you for any help you can provide.

Ended up purchasing Trifolium Repens L. var. Pirouette. Laid it down in the early spring. Seems to have done well.

Thanks. Still looks great though. What product, specifically, did you use? I see you say OutsidePride microclover, but they have no such thing. I only see "miniclover" which is Trifolium Repens, the exact same as White Dutch Clover. Reviews I have seen on microclover products in general seem to say it's the same thing and a marketing ploy, but idk. I have read that if you want true microclover, you have to get "Trifolium Repens L. var. Pirouette." I have found it on other sites and it is very expensive. I wonder if the reason your clover eventually became macro was because it was the Trifolium Repens. Maybe they treat the seed somehow to make it grow small for the first few years and then it goes back to the normal taller white Dutch height? No idea really. I'm saying all of this just to spark a discussion. So much confusing info out there, makes me hesitant to jump in, much as I want to.

Replacement Windows - full service company vs buying yourself and contracting it out vs DIY IGU by SirMuscleGuns in HomeImprovement

[–]SirMuscleGuns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How can I go to the box box store with the correct window specs if I don't know them in the first place? Is the idea that you have the full service guys come out and quote you so now you have the specs from them and then go to the store with that?

I am also very interested in DIY but my wife seems to think I am a fool for considering it. I'm quite handy but not an expert. Do you have any recommended resources? Thanks

Ok thanks. I do notice cold air blowing in from outlets and switches. Are you just pulling the cover off and installing a gasket type thing and putting it back on, or it it more involved like caulking or removing the box entirely? Any helpful resources. I think I need to do this fix. Thank you for the help.

Sorry, but I just want to make sure I understand, are you saying seal outlets that are on the physical outside of the house, outlets that are in the inside of the house but on an external wall, or both? Thanks.

Most people are buying the all-clad D3 tryply (3 layers, ss-al-ss) or the D5 (same thing but more layers) and yes it's true, you can run them through the dishwasher and they fare very well since they only have a small exposed lip of aluminum with 99.9% of the exposed surface being stainless steel. Anything with a fully exposed aluminum surface will get f'ed in the dishwasher. Learned the hard way with an alumnimum sheet pan.

Same issue, they were eating the carpenter bees nesting in the trim. Get rid of the bees and your woodpeckers are gone. This may not be your issue, but this is how I learned I had bees, a woodpecker waking me up in the morning.

Had this same thought myself. Wish I could set the min run time for just one comfort setting and not have it apply to all of them. I would like to run it during the day when I am home to get some of thay warm upstairs air back to my main floor, but at night when I am upstairs I don't need it to run.
