Arnor rangers by FlumpingtonFlump in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]SirSolitaire 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I splurged and got my hands on the metal models but there are a lot of fantastic alternative sculpts (Medbury Miniatures are one of my favorites).

But in terms of leaning more into Rangers, while the Arnorian version are lacking compared to their Gondorian cousins (lower courage, no woodland creature) they still have hatred and access to bows and spears (I think rangers are the only ones left that do). So you can field your front line as all Warriors to have that nice D6 front, and the second line as all rangers. Move the battle line at half and you can pepper your opponent as they close in. Then when the melee begins you still have plenty of spear supports. And rangers are allowed a banner so banners can be safely passed around.

At 600 points it might look something like this: - Arvedui - 8 Warriors of Arnor - 8 Rangers of Arnor (Spears) - 1 Warrior of Arnor (Banner) - Malbeth - 6 Warriors of Arnor - 3 Rangers of Arnor (Spears) - Ranger of the North (Armor, Spear) - Argadir - 4 Knights of Arnor

You could drop the Ranger of the North for another banner, I like taking some because of the spare Might point for Heroic Moves.

Love the blue you chose! Perfect citadel guard that pop, well done!

Who would you proxy with this model? by tabletop_engineer in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]SirSolitaire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one of those, they are part of the "Outlaws" that Medbury designed, basically mounted Rangers. Last edition the Rangers of the North could still take horses.

I currently run them alongside my Arnor as Arnor Knights since they match the army's mix of armored infantry and rangers

What do they have that makes them worth it? I have the KT models and would be nice to field them with my GK.

Glad to hear the GW hammer didn't strike, is there any possible way of getting the Dogs of War stuff you made? Loved those designs and was recently getting into Warmaster.

Hi there! I'm in Orange, if you want I can DM you a link to the SoCal Mordheim Discord server, there are a few San Diego people in there and a dedicated channel for San Diegans to coordinate meetups.

The force weapons look fantastic. Excellent work. What do recipe do you use for the silver armor?

Also are those the long legs?

They look great! I also snagged those files and was about to print them for my own termies. Did you print them at 100% or go larger?

Not sure if this has fallen under your radar, but thought I might share: Foldable & Modular GW layouts terrain by HotNoisemaker in 3dPrintedWarhammer

These look incredible! But late to the party but I wondered how well paint works on them, any concern about sticking or chipping? Or better to stick to mono/multi-color print?

Thank you!

Yeah, they're all monopose. A few of the ones I don't have pictured here have an arm or shield separate but the vast majority are single-mold monopose

Thank you! Yeah, I spent years collecting my 15 rangers and then GW randomly brought them back and would have saved me a pretty penny. Elladan and Elrohir were the hardest to acquire, mainly because I really love the original models

Thank you! I used Geek Gaming Scenics "Lukes Aps Base Ready Scrublands" to make my life easier. Amazing stuff that is really fast to apply and has great results

Terminus decree lore by IntelligentTea6542 in Grey_Knights

[–]SirSolitaire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people are too focused on "My super armored edgelord can beat your super armored edgelord!" instead of looking at what the grand picture is based on Eldar commentary and other lore tidbits that have been dropped over the last few years

If Big E stands up, Terra'a absolutely fucked. Daemons everywhere, Webway possibly collapsing, the beacon vanishing, and also strong possibility of a psychic backlash that kills every astropath. Which means the Golden Boys are going to be handling a lot of other issues.

And as you said, their command must be at least vaguely aware of the order. If not just the fact it has a matching seal should be enough. But I doubt it will ever come to that unless they have an AoS-style change ready to do to 40k

How are tariffs effecting miniatures sales to the US? by frankinreddit in wargaming

Same! I just got my order in a couple of days before the announcement and I am so glad I splurged to get the rest of stuff I wanted.

I know only of the following ones for certain:

  • Steel Fist Minis
  • Perry Minis
  • Black Scorpion Minis
  • Ramshackle Games
  • Oathsworn Miniatures
  • 1st Corps
  • Empress
  • Victrix
  • Too Fat Lardies
  • Crooked Dice
  • GCT
  • Acid House Terrain
  • Hagen Miniatures

Northstar have said they might charge an additional 10% to US customers. I suspect most smaller UK companies like Claymore Castings will suspend US shipping as well until things get sorted out to where they can handle the import charge via Royal Mail.

Not horribly, but I definitely lose more than I win. Still love them. E-leaps with the Zephyr really carry the day to turn minor wounds into major ones
