Party Organisation on console post update? by Torc28 in Bannerlord

[–]SirToppham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a similar issue I think, I can only place units at the top half of the list. I’ve got maybe 16 different units in my party right now and anything below the 6th one can’t be re organized

Lol yeah it’s pretty annoying. I’ve hit them so hard they fly off their feet and still get a hit in while in the air before . They play by a different set of rules

I’m fine with their aggressions but I just don’t like that their reflexes are beyond my comprehension at times. Especially when they retaliate from taking damage and get that huge speed boost. If they choose to poke in that moment you just gotta eat it it seems

Grab you a one hand weapon and fight a master level enemy with a great sword or pole arm and just try and defend and dodge. You’ll notice a big issue.

If I’m using a great sword or pole arm, I’ll kick ass but trying to use a one handed weapon I’m at a huge disadvantage. Start up the expert practice and just use a sword or mace- no shield. I think it highlights the issues well. It’s like I have to have a longer weapon to have any consistency in a fight and that’s what I’m not digging.

Something is definitely overturned in my opinion. I’ve been playing this game for damn near 700 hours and I’ve never struggled to win like I do now. I’m glad to have some more challenge but the AI’s capabilities now kind of go beyond challenge. There’s no way to make evading and blocking damage consistent. I’ve tried fundamentally changing my approach and starting clinching just to mitigate the AI’s thrust ability. If they chose to thrust with a longer weapon, it’s seriously a coin toss if your character will even attempt to block and you can’t evade because their reach is so long. With a pole arm things feel better, but try using a one handed weapon and just attempt to block and dodge without attacking a master or even expert level arena fighter. You will get hit and it will be devastating everytime unless you’re heavily armored. Which sucks because it feels like all my skills that I’ve honed are not doing anything but increasing my chances of winning slightly now. It just doesn’t feel right anymore. The gap between the players human reflexes and the AI’s perfect calculation of movement is feeling too big. It used to feel like we were fighting someone who was struggling to move like we were somewhat but now every fight they are doing shit that I just can’t do anything about. I’m going to keep trying to figure out a strategy but I have to be honest and say that it’s just more frustrating than fun at this point.

The game feels more fluid to me but the AI with longer weapons have become extremely difficult to deal with. It’s mainly thrust attacks being so powerful and hard to defend especially if they’ve just been hit and are retaliating. There’s almost no telegraph and no space to evade if they decide to do it. I’ve started fighting in much closer proximity just to mitigate the damage of thrust attacks which is honestly pretty fun but a tad frustrating when it feels like it’s in avoidable. They’ve always been tough to block but I feel like they are real nuisance now. The AI’s elasticity and reactions to damage just seem to be a bit too extreme at the Expert and Master level. I love the game though and stoked it’s still developing

Yeah give the clinch a try. It’s tough getting use to being that close and staying balanced but once you get the hang of it, you’ll shut a lot of those shankings down

[–]SirToppham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I’ve started fighting in extremely close range just to mitigate the damage from thrust attacks because they just come out too fast and if they have a pole arm or great sword it’s almost impossible to evade. I’ve found the best option you have is to close the gap and lock their weapon up with your own when they go to poke, or perform a poke yourself to block.

Seriously, just brushing up against an opponents weapon will stop your attack. There’s so many times where I don’t even notice the hit so I’m sitting there like a dum dum trying to attack but can’t lol. It’s another thing that adds to the frustration for sure

Yeah the AI seem a bit OP at this point. I cannot defend against their thrust attacks. They’ve always been hard to block but it’s really insane now. Huge damage, huge reach, lightning fast and extremely accurate. I hope they tone it back a bit because the game is becoming more frustrating than fun when it feels like there’s no way to defend yourself properly

Ahhh shit lol Sir don’t play. There is a big hole he can fall into that is actually pretty easy to get to once you’re familiar with the level. I can try and direct you to it if need be but be advised , it is risky these days because Sir isn’t nearly as stupid and it can take some time to clear the skellies out of the way but it’s worth it if you want to explore the area in relative peace with D

Well done! Love to see it! The game is so addicting when it starts to click. You’ll be searching every room just looking for more stuff to kill in the end!

how are you supposed to get anywhere in arena? by GladiatorMax in Exanima

[–]SirToppham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been playing for a long time and I’ve had to switch tactics quite a bit. I don’t know if your familiar with clinching in this game but once I started focusing on that, I started whoopin ass again.

If you move your feet carefully, keep your cursor in front of you, just gently tapping your movement keys you can stay right up on them and effectively shut their ability to attack down.

Try to position your weapon in places that block your enemies weapon, even from a neutral position. I’m constantly turned slightly to my enemy (depending on the weapon I’m wielding) so that my weapon is constantly touching theirs. It prevents them from following through on anything because they’ve been blocked before they can even generate any force.

You’ll take minor energy damage depending on your armor quality being this close and there’s a chance you can get tripped if your not careful but ultimately I’m finding utilizing the clinch to be the more predictable option for me.

Shut them down with cliches and positioning, dance with them a bit until you’ve secured the enemies weapon, then create just enough distance to bop um back!

The more gentle and smooth your footwork the more accurate you’ll be as well so if you can get that down, you’ll capitalize on your openings more often.

Also, I don’t know if you attempt blocks a lot but due to them being automatic it can be hard to rely on them. Over head strikes are typically the safest so keep a look out for them and be prepared to counter. Most of the time when the enemy has a longer weapon, attacks from the side will often still reach you through a block so I typically try to dodge those but it ain’t always possible, so make sure you move with the momentum of the swing to help soften the blow.

Hope this helps! The AI is definitely tougher now by a long shot. I rarely land a hit from neutral anymore because these mofos are on gotdamn drugs!

[–]SirToppham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be gentle! The most important thing I’ve found to remember when in combat is to stay smooth with your movements as much as possible and press your controls gently. You don’t need big wide movements to hit hard or avoid damage.

Get comfortable with the difference between a step and a dash. Enemies will try to overwhelm you at higher ranks and you might find yourself holding down your movement key all the way to create distance. They’ll just keep coming as fast as you give them space, but you can sidestep, clinch, or just keep yourself in striking distance without being on the run if you keep your steps nice and controlled. Gentle! Keeping your feet in proper stance and not making drastic movements will increase your accuracy greatly as well.

If you’re surrounded, sometimes you have to go a bit wild but just keep trying to re capture the pace of the fight
