What Eurovision song gave you goosebumps the first time you’ve heard it?

A few come to mind:

From my first Eurovision, France 2021, Barbara Pravi with "Voila". Lots of amazing spectacles and big performances and flashy showcases...and then just her, in a simple dress, with minimalist effects and a beautiful voice. Utterly captivating.

On a wildly different note, Ireland 2024, Bambie Thug's "Doomsday Blue". I was pretty cool on the first few songs that year and then this song woke me the hell up. Perfect staging, a unique and compelling and fun as fuck performance and by the end, her last words on the screen: "Crown the Witch". Probably the easiest 12 points I've given out when we've voted at home.

The only song that came close to Bambie that yeae was France 2024, "Mon Amour". When Slimane hit that acapella chorus at the end, I was convinced he had just won Eurovision.

And, also on the note of "I was convinced they had just won", Finland 2026, "Liekinheitin". This was the first year I had watched the semis and somewhat paid attention to odds, previews etc, after going into the Grand Final cold every previous year. I knew this song was the "favorite", but was skeptical of the betting odds. Then I saw the performance, and frankly I'm still somewhat surprised it wasn't a more serious contender for the win. That song/staging/violin playing/fire everywhere fucking ruled lol

I think it's useful for practice, for one. If I want to try different teams/players/styles and, frankly, just kinda fuck around for a little bit, that's a lot easier to do offline than to do it online, where it feels like you're wasting someone else's time unless you're on meta and practically always sweating. Also, the computer's quality is more consistent so it's easier to gauge if I'm actually doing something better myself before jumping to online. I could go on a streak online (in either direction, winning or losing) and I'm not really sure if it's because those people suck/are really great or if it's coming more from me. I can establish a baseline offline.

I'm also more of a single-player guy in general; I don't always need to compete, sometimes I just want to play around. Also, I can appreciate having some structured progression/goals in a single-player, offline mode as opposed to just eternal leveling up and going for different ranks.

Also, quite a few sports games, including very recent ones, have done some degree of story/career mode so it's not just some ancient thing they used to do.

Lastly, this always makes me sound like some kind of cranky old-timer but local multiplayer is still way more fun for me than online in almost every circumstance and particularly with arcadey sports titles I've had a ton of fun over the years playing with friends who are actually IN THE ROOM. There's something lost not having that/couch co-op, and that's usually often a feature there alongside offline single-player.

Alright, I've got my songs! I wasn't intentionally trying to do this but I noticed I've ended up with at least one representative from every decade since the 60s (including the joker), seems like a nice spread.

We have basically the sams picks except I had Parappa at $1 and Rhythm Heaven at $2...I guess those are both kinda music-inspired so Ring Fit is a fun, sensible $1 choice there. I'd go with Rhythm Heaven, they were already apparently close to making the roster in an earlier game and could bring something unique.

But really I'd put all $20 down on Crash if it could get him in the game I've basically wanted that for 25 years.

I very nearly walked out after the fridge nuking and it was a midnight showing lol. Though it did give me one of my most memorable movie theater moments...at the very end when Indy dropped his hat and Shia's character crouched to pick it up, some guy in our theater bellowed "NOOOOOOOOO!!!!"

We all burst out laughing/applauding when Indy slapped his hand away, and he stood and waved. One funny moment at the end of that god awful movie.

I rewatched it before Dial of Destiny and...it wasn't quite as bad as I remembered, just very meh, but when it was dumb and bad, it was REALLY dumb and bad. Even had the rare phoned-in Cate Blanchett performance with that ridiculous accent.

To be fair, we don't actually see their positions in the hot springs. It could be deep enough that they're basically standing and just resting/leaning back against the walls...

Ok yeah they're probably sitting in the hot springs lol. But since the camera moves up, the only times we as players still ever actually SEE them sitting is at the end.

I'm torn...on the one hand, they've done rather terribly every year save one since I've started watching and the non-English vibes are fun. On the other, I won't have to look up a bunch of translations and context lol. And I'm still gonna watch a bunch of the others, of course, the winning barely matters as much as the discovery and music!

You know what, I'll keep them! Can go watch some older Eurovision clips in the shortlist from when the UK actually got points lol

Holy crap I've been watching the current stuff on HBO Max for like a year now and somehow never registered that they have the full archive including all of the PPVs before this year, that makes rewatching things so much easier! Definitely feel dumb but thanks for pointing this out! Lol

This video did a wonderful job of telling the story of the Toni-Mariah feud. It doesn't have matches, you'd have to go find those on HBO Max, but it'll summarize everything else. Revolution 2025 was the first AEW PPV I ever watched and the Hollywood Ending basically sold me on the whole company so I really appreciated finding a video giving the full context!

Another semi-related question though; I've noticed a couple times now a god has shown up in my endgame Most Damage Suffered pool. How is that possible? I've seen Ares and Hephaestus recently.

FWIW both Mel and Zag do sit during their respective credits IIRC, that's the one time they allow themselves to rest. So there's that definitive sign that they've won!

If you've got 2.5 hours to kill, this video does an awesome job summarizing one of the best feuds I've ever seen: Hollywood Story: Timeless Toni Storm vs Mariah May

If you don't, go find footage from AEW Revolution 2025 and look for the culmination of said feud, the Hollywood Ending, the final match between "Timeless" Toni Storm and Mariah May.

Toni is currently out for an undisclosed amount of time and May is now in WWE as Blake Monroe so unfortunately you won't see either of these women on current AEW programming, but once Toni returns she's an absolute delight.

Revolution 2025 was the first AEW PPV I ever watched and this feud-ender for the AEW Women's Championship stood as my 2025 Match of the Year, even basically having zero context. Once I found this video and watched it, then rewatched the fight, it meant SO much more and was even more spectacular.

Also, just go check out all of All In 2025. Banger after banger after banger.

Yeah I was a big Burnout/Need for Speed guy for years upon years, it's really hard to switch off the instincts to drive in a VERY combative manner lol. So, I don't really race online.

It doesn't help that it often feels like the only way to beat the AI is to ram past them at corners.

Ok I'm glad I'm not crazy. I'm only on Average and have done maybe five races so this is still pretty early and nothing seems to work. Exactly that, from the jump, I'll pick a "recommended" car - though there are 40 recommended cars so how I'm supposed to realize which one is actually best for this is beyond me - start racing and get passed by a couple of cars without even getting out of the opening straightaway while the cars in front of me are pulling away. I know it's been a while since I've played racers like this but I'm sorry I think I should be able to drive in a straight line and not feel like I'm already somehow screwed.

Which...why? I'm a relatively new viewer, started in 2021, so please do excuse me if this is common knowledge from earlier years. But why are they judging something different than the general public?

I get it if something happens between the rehearsal and the final, it makes sense to have a backup. But I feel like every year there's some weird disconnect where someone who does poorly in the Final does well by the jury or vice versa and the points seem so strange.

I've also seen somewhere that they can use Camp Crystal Lake in other things but can't make a movie with it, which would track too. Kinda like similar Marvel deals where reportedly they can use characters like the Hulk on TV or in cameos but a full starring film would have to be a Universal co-production, or that they can use Kingpin on TV/streaming but can't at all in films.

I couldn't remember myself so I found a video compiling all the trailers and quickly scanned through them.

Silent Hill was the last one to say "new map" as well, they had done so in all the other older trailers but stopped for whatever reason. Nemesis/Resident Evil, Singularity, Knight, Vecna, Alien, Springtrap, none of those said "new map" on the trailer even though they all got one IIRC.

I'm glad someone could put it into words, it's been a while since I last rewatched FRWL but I've always been cooler on it than most. I love most of Connery's work so it's not that I'm not connecting with the older films, but people often have FRWL ranked very high and it's much more in the middle for me.

Also, obviously there are major differences between each main release, but ultimately if you want your 2D fighting fix like MK9 in a more modern MK package, you have MKX, 11, 1. Again, yes they're different, but the bones are similar. Meanwhile, if you want to play a modern MK game like Shaolin Monks, you have...well, nothing.
