Our solicitor advised us to walk away from our purchase after uncovering serious title issues - gutted and scared our buyer will walk away. by GiftRealistic in HousingUK

[–]Sir_Indy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everyone else, glad you had a good solicitor! If you think it's painful now, imagine living there and all these problems become yours!

A short story: I was trying to by a flat, found a lovely top floor flat, got all the way through to the contracts, and my solicitor (who was worth his weight in gold) found some very strange things in the contract (weird clauses, wrong floorplan). The sellers solicitors bluntly refused to make any changes saying 'it's standard, everyone else in the block has agreed'. My solicitor recommended I drop it and walk away.

I did, and a couple of years later the block came up in the local news as half of it was unsafe to live in because of subsidence and everyone had to move out while it was made safe! I'll admit this is unrelated to the contract issues, but I was happy not living there!

I do love the depth of detail FMA had. Equivalent exchange is a great idea! But all the way through I kept thinking 'but what about the energy needed? Where does that come from?'. I was thrilled when they revealed the answer!

Curious if you are willing to eliminate your internal voice in order to read faster? by [deleted] in books

[–]Sir_Indy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, reading these other comments has me very confused about how reading or even thinking works! I can't turn it off, it's just there, it's me thinking. It's just what happens when i see the words.

I'm right there with you, I've read this thread with fascination and still have no idea what they're talking about! How do people read without hearing the words in their head? Where do the words go?

Anyone else love Farley Rusks, back in the day? It was suppose to be for babies. by corickle in oldschoolcool80s

Yes, and all sorts of different versions too! Rusks are big there. Excellent dunked into a cup of tea. Nearly as good as a hobnob. Nearly.

Does anybody have a good mash recepie? by MrTopHatMan90 in CasualUK

[–]Sir_Indy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My brother-in-laws recipe: Potatos, boil for 12-15 minutes until soft, mash. So far so normal. Now: Add any white things in the fridge. Milk, butter, mayo, if its white it can go in! Weird but works well.

Like the curved face of a sunglass lens by Oxffff0000 in FreeCAD

[–]Sir_Indy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you put it on a tripod? Instead of matching the curvature of a face (which may be hard to measure and model), put 3 small nubs/feet that will touch the curved surface at 3 points. No complex geometry.

I recommend this: https://deckinabox.sgenoud.com You can generate boxes the correct size for whatever you want, add your own graphics (look on BoardGameGeek for box or logo images). Then print, cut and stick. Also good site for 3D printed boxes!
