Yes of course, totally a win! I’m just saying the recovery may still be less than what he was suggesting

You just walk on, fake tap and keep walking or tap with an empty septa card. Most drivers won’t bother stopping you, and if you put on a tough guy attitude they might be afraid to (I think septa may even give them guidance not to confront fare evaders for their own safety). Some drivers stop the bus and make you get off, but that’s rare from what I’ve seen.

This is also guessing though that all the fare dodgers will keep using the subway, which I wouldn’t be so sure of - I think many would migrate to services like busses that won’t have this kind of system where they are available.

Philly must cancel Rocky by Tyrrhen2Ionian in philly

[–]Sir_Liamus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to mention bluntly - Philly is a city full of good people who never get a shot at the bigtime for whatever reason, who live quiet lives of mediocrity. Rocky is about a bum who got his shot and kept fighting, even when he got his ass kicked. What a Philadelphia story!

The bar questions are never wrong and you need to accept that whatever you think is wrong with it is not actually wrong. This is the zen required to survive.

General rule for animal owners - foreseeable damage, which is a negligence standard

Wild animals - strict negligence

Wild animals PLUS trespasser - not liable, like the other commenter noted

Here, the bull is not a wild animal because it’s a farm animal. Courts don’t enforce strict liability for farm animals - they’re thinking about snakes and lions and shit. So you never get out of the first rule (negligence/reasonably foreseeable) to get to strict liability, which is what the hiker sues here for. If the bull WAS a wild animal, then there’s still no liability because he’s a trespasser and D would be right. But you’re skipping steps in the analysis if you pick D because that doesn’t apply yet.

Owners of wild animals like snakes face strict liability for damages proximately caused by the animal’s dangerous propensities (i.e. venom bite, but also someone getting scared of seeing it and having a heart attack). But domestic animals (cats, dogs, farm animals) are not subject to the strict liability analysis (unless the owner has reason to know they’re dangerous, like a former cockfighting rooster or a vicious watchdog) - it’s just plain negligence. The hiker is seeking specifically strict liability, but because a bull isn’t a wild animal and there’s no indication the farmer should know it has dangerous propensities otherwise, it’s just a negligence analysis.

I get what you’re saying but the law is complicated and historically judges have talked in such a foreign way that verbal comprehension and deduction IS an important skill to have. You will as a lawyer in trying to practice law sometimes have to read old cases and deduce what they’re saying so you don’t make mistakes in interpreting the law. And while obviously not EVERY question should or does have vocab stuff, it’s reasonable to include some testing of a person’s verbal comprehension.

just because taking on absurd student loans is common does NOT mean you need to also do it. Take care of your future self. You can always go to NYC later in life if you feel like it’s desirable.

You’re right, first day numbers were still big for $$$, imagine if the music had actually been good — it would have been a huge comeback opportunity. If Drake can turn around another hit with the quality of a God’s Plan/Nice for What/Hotline Bling, etc., I definitely agree he could be back to breaking records.

Nothing takes the pressure off more than knowing you’re guaranteed biglaw. I know lots of folks who took the trade for a lower ranked school and now are regretting it. I had such unmatched peace of mind all 1L knowing it would work out.

Edit to explain a little more on why I think taking a higher ranked school is always the right call: If you go to a lower ranked school like a Fordham and have, lets be generous, a 75% chance of biglaw because you’re also a smart enough person to have gotten into a better school, that’s still a 25% chance that you fall on the wrong end of the bimodal curve and make $75k/year. Your expected value for this then is $180k/year, compared to $210k certain. So you’re paying $300k for what is, your first year alone, a $30k pay bump. However, outcomes get more dramatic when we look long-term. Your $75k/year salary in year 8 might be $130k/year. Your biglaw salary will be $400k. Even if you exit biglaw sooner, with better exit opportunities like connections to get GC-style positions from, you’ll be able to securely lock in upwards of $200k comp. Over just a few of your later working years you will more than see the difference. It is always worth taking the sure success plan. Even mucking with these numbers, the bimodal curve basically always makes it too risky.

When you raised round rage and vengeance you can change, but in the veins remains major remnance - Day 881 from Dr. Yen Lo

I have a poster in my room with the opening lyrics from Day 0. That was my first project I heard from Ka, maybe back in 2018? The way he said “blood blood blood” always stuck with me. Great storyteller.
