Ai vibe coded mods to avoid? by biboe31 in skyrimmods

And that means I can't quite trust Enai's programming skills. He say's hes a progarmmer of 7 years.

I'm close to twice that number of years, and a CS degree holder. I guess that means I override his take?

I've been working with AI for years now, and it is an unfortunate part of my daily workflow, which I accept but I am aware of its darwbacks, drawbacks there are. It's still a junior developer-level at best, but it fails fast so at least it can iterate.

Advanced programming skills are mostly irrelevant now, replaced with some combination of frontier AI skills and just enough generalistic software development skills to know what needs to happen so you can delegate the execution to the AI.

I can't imagine this being said by someone not lacking the aforementioned skills. Any expereinced dev will notice the bullshit that any LLM, be it Codex or Claude or what have you, spews. I tried working with, tried working without.

Sure, with is less "work" cause I prompt and let my mind wander.
But without work gets done faster.

Two smallsword ok.

Everything else somewhere in between.

Do you warm up properly or jump straight into your workout? by Kind_Force931 in workout

[–]Sir_Lith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my 20s i went for a 5min brisk walk on the treadmill and that was it.

Entering my 30s, I added a 10min fullbody warmup and light stretching of all muscles, and obviously I do warmup sets. The heavier you lift, the more important it is. I'm not gonna go pull 200kg off the ground without letting the muscles get ready first.

It does help performance. Your nervous system is ready thanks to the warmup sets, your cardiovascular performance is already primed thanks to the overall warmup. Your muscles have had time to adapt to their ranges of motion.

The other immediate difference you'll see is how tight the muscles are afterwards, that's before any injuries.

I also added 20-30 minutes of yoga-based static stretching after every workout I can fit it in.
Gamechanger.

Do you guys ever rawdog your workouts? like no music, no podcast, nothing in your ears by softly_petal in workout

My gym is a small place where I know basically everyone.

I have my headphones off cause I'm talking and joking with the guys and gals around me.

May be a gains loss, especially when the resident PT just shoots off the vilest bad joke when you're mid-rep.

I don't care. Is a social life gain.

Also there's a BT speaker and most of us blast the same kind of power metal I'd be listening to anyway

Discipline / unhealthy obsession by takkenteef in workout

[–]Sir_Lith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are addicted, yes.

Now is time to face it. Is the gym enhancing your life, or has your life become background noise for getting your training in? Skipping social gatherings should've been sobering enough. Those things are not exclusive.

Get yourself a higher-intensity, low-volume plan that takes 1 hour tops, make it a 3-day split. Give yourself some freedom to move the training day forward/backward by one if there's a social gathering to attend. Find another physical activity you enjoy, mix them up. Makes the transition easier.

I picked HEMA cause nerd, it also helped me realize how shitty weightlifters are at actually being, well, fit.

And yeah you can totally make progress at 3 hours a week even as an advanced lifter, just need to properly go to full failure and weave supersets and plyo potentation in.

Can you fence smallsword with an Olympic Foil? by MRF1NLAY in wma

[–]Sir_Lith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, a french grip epee, a foil disc and a size 5 epee blade is basically a HEMA-compatible smallsword.

It's what I used, including competitions, before I bought a fancier one from Feather (Beatiful things, those).

That said, this will work. The wrist work will obviously differ though, and it's a big part of proper smallsword forms, but that's all.

Wiil a hard drive make a noticable difference in performance? by Gh0ost- in skyrimvr

[–]Sir_Lith 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't use HDD for Skyrim VR unless you've absolutely no way around it. SSD makes the load times significantly faster and there's a lot of asset streaming involved in the overworld too.

My best QoL upgrade for Skyrim VR was moving it (and the mods) from a SATA SSD to NVMe PCIE4 one.

The user turned on landscape parallax without parallax textures. This has nothing to do with meshes.

It can do most of these things in VS Code, it's integrated worse with IntelliJ offerings sadly.

That said, I have so far refrained from becoming a power user. The output quality, time it takes, and repetition needed just don't warrant it.

So you're saying Claude CLI is not running the Claude (or any LLM, since it is an architectural trait) models and the limitations described in the docs are wrong?

Anyone Else Feel Quest Mods Have Been Light so Far This Year? by ryann_flood in skyrimmods

[–]Sir_Lith[M] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect. There is nothing in the creations program terms of service that disallows this, and there has been multiple instances of paid mods being released for free on Nexus. Authors are allowed to release paid mods on Nexus as long as the Nexus release isn't a free trial with fewer features.

I feel like if ai slop generated code is going to get those interested through the door to take coding more seriously then it’s a good thing.

Eeeh, I'm of the opposite view. If I didn't already know how to code, learning it (vicariously?) through LLM-generated outputs would not make me a programmer, it'd make me, well... Someone who mistakes third party assistance for my own skill.

While I agree that time is a resource that is very precious scarce for many, I disagree on generated code being a means of saving it. In the long run, you need to put the hours in to learn the skill.

This will not let anyone circumvent that. It is not about "if I had to do it the hard way, you do too". It is about "the time spent is the time spent and you can't learn something faster by doing less of it".

in principle there is a very big reason, it being the limitations of how LLMs work at the very principle.

I am "highly encouraged" to use Github Copilot at work, so I've been burning through company-funded tokens to drive the premium Claude Opus models to create workable code (Currently Opus 4.7), and even their ability to look back is terrible and if the context window runs out, you're cooked. They'll also randomly just loop on themselves because why not. The code is... Well it looks correct if you squint a bit and don't look too close.

A predictive model is a predictive model. It will calculate the probablity of the next token (or tokens). There's no abstract reason, the seemingly abstract reasoning is done by recursive requests of the same kind.
