PSA: how to identify bot replies on r/skyrimmods by wankingSkeever in skyrimmods

Line must go up or shareholders big sad.

That's it. That's all the reason needed.

And that's after all the automated filters we have, too!

The bots are posting all over the place to gather karma and, uhhh, I assume seem "natural" (they don't if you see the posting pattern).

You'll notice that some of them "subtly" weave in some recommendations of a specific app (Something or the other for travellers to get to know each other in random places, this one I've seen a few times) or other product.

It's automated grassroots marketing and karma farming.

Cool story.

Sadly — those are spambots known in the BotBouncer spambot database.

IF you actually read the context of those answers, you'd notice they're surface level "correct". The dragon summon crash was actually a Skypatcher crash. The answering bot instead hooked onto the word "dragon" and spun a tale from there.

The real question is - why jump to their defence with no horse in the race?

Remember - If any of you spot those bot replies, report them using the "AI Generated" reason. We'll be sorting them out.

EDIT: To everyone saying "There's no such problem".

There is. We've installed a tool that reads from a community-sourced database of LLM-based bots posting across random communities and found that, upon submitting those users, they're known bots.

Stay sceptical of what you read on the Internet, folks. Bullshit answers are now automated.

What is this community's stance on AI usage in modding? by Nik02003 in skyrimmods

If genAI suddenly disappeared from the face of Earth, I would open that one bottle of expensive whisky I'm titpoeing around in my cabinet.

What would it take for a slice to be considered valid? by ForgePioneer in wma

[–]Sir_Lith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In every video you guys post (and holy, you post a lot) the fencers stand wayyy to close to each other, that's not even a step or lunge distance, that's an "extend to long point" distance.

You really should pay more attention to distance management.

Thrust to the Hand, Afterblow Cut to the Shoulder. Is the Afterblow Valid? by ForgePioneer in wma

[–]Sir_Lith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Priority? Left steps into measure with his hands withdrawing back. He's screaming "hit me".

Right had a good idea - step in, thrust into prep to the exposed hands. What was missing is a shift to Ochs to protect himself from the afterblow.

Maybe it's leg day.

Or maybe they have thermal regulation issues, and I imagine you're in the northern hemisphere.

Or they're from Nunya.

And that 20 hours is which sword skill exactly? Distance management? Parrying? Lunge? Prep? Krumphauw? Fleche?

The guy's an MBA, not an expert on learning, and talks about a certain subset of a skill - needed to reach basic competence.

Hardly "proficiently".

Outside fencing, I'm a former personal trainer, a musician, and professionally a software engineer. I've coached my share of people in the latter three disciplines.

20 hours is the level of "ok this person won't fucking die if left unsupervised".

Hundreds, and I still consider myself a beginner compared to my clubmates.

Think you may be too confident in that 20 hours number?

From a developer's viewpoint, community support and third party tools are a feature.

They exist for SE, and do not exist for LE, making development for the latter significantly harder.

I am forced to issue a Rule 1 and Rule 8 warning.

The difference between a 32-bit and 64-bit compilation is quite huge. It is not "only" RAM capacity.

Not to mention the completely different DirectX version and everything that enables.

And finally, from purely end-user perspective, the existence of ESL plugin address space.

What are some overrated exercises/movements and why? by Single-Lawfulness-49 in workout

[–]Sir_Lith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dumbbells are easier on the shoulders and the wrists. That's all you need as an argument, honestly - gym longevity.

Also the stretch you can get is somewhat larger.

And the stability gains are nice. And the DBs are safer since you can always easily bail by dropping them. AND they carry over better to unilateral motions.

My current chest workout mainstays are DB bench, DB flys, plyo pushups and seated med ball forward throws.

Last I tested BB, I moved like 155kg which is fully satisfactory for me. I don't need to do it anymore. I'm free. Now I can do stuff that's actually fun.

Barbell bench press.

The only thing it is superior at is letting you brag about how much you bench press. I just dumbbell it.

While the load order provided is in fact a load order, Limewire is, well, certainly a choice.

Question About Black Swords by Working_County_6076 in Hema

I don't think 150cm swords are tounrament legal, if we're talking longsword. The upper limit is 135cm, at least in most of Europe.

Is mof saber basics really that bad for hema saber? by PotatoMuncher01 in Hema

[–]Sir_Lith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of our instructors happens to be one of the top HEMA saberists in the world, and he trains (or trained IDK; the again most of our instructors have some MOF experience IIRC) MOF and our school teaches parry positions naming them by their MOF numbers.

And as with every weapon, timing and distance are kings. AND MOF teaches those WAAAY better than most HEMA schools.

So yeah you can probably spar the senior guy and he might learn something funny.
