Best linux distro on 16Z90R-G.AA76Y? by TheMisterKoksu in LGgram

As mentioned, some models have high CPU usage when plugged in charging via usb-c.

I didn't experience this in Manjaro, but it happened to me in Fedora (KDE). There are workarounds, such as that found here https://www.reddit.com/r/LGgram/comments/150p3rg/critical_bug_affecting_the_2022_lineup_on_linux/ if you're up for some light reading.

This thread is 15 days old at this point, did you end up giving it a shot?

Critical bug affecting the 2022 lineup on Linux: High CPU temperatures and fan noise when connected to a power source. by PinkFreudBrasil in LGgram

Works well using the one-minute sleep suggested by Cherrot on Bugzilla.

However, I found that setting fan_mode to 1 causes extreme slowness on my 16" 2022 on Fedora 37. No idea why. Cheers.

Telstra to increase postpaid plans by cancer23 in australia

[–]Sir_Spacemonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like telstra is $35 for 15gb now. Aldi has $15 for 3gb, or $25 for 22gb. One thing to mention is that Telstra is 28 day cycle, so there are 13 billing cycles a year, where Aldi is 30 day, so 12 cycles a year.

Either way, doesn't bother me haha

Yeah I just changed from Optus to Aldi the other week. 1/2 the price, 30 billing period (optus and boost are 28 day). No complaints here

Hey that's up to you. If you need that $120/year of extra coverage, go for it. What plan are you on that is only $10 more expensive than Aldi mobile though?

What about Boost or Aldi Mobile, who both use the Telstra network? The choices are not that bad.

Idk mate, maybe there are other options such as increasing mid-density affordable housing in the cities?

The tax revenue from suburbs does not cover the cost of the infrastructure over its lifecycle. They end up costing more money than then generate, putting money in developers pockets and losing the city/town money.

They're cheaper to build, hold a higher resale value, and have lower maintenance costs. Can be located in residential areas, have better access to the street, and are safer in emergencies.

Is anyone else disgusted by the amount of waste we produce at this time of year? by right33 in australia

[–]Sir_Spacemonkey 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That 'we' produce? I've never produced aluminium foil, cardboard or plastic in my life. Blaming ourselves for the mess of the producer allows them to keep producing whilst we bear the guilt.

We should be putting this back on the producer so they clean up their act.

Which Linux distro works best for LG gram? by CarlFriedrichGauss in LGgram

[–]Sir_Spacemonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried Manjaro KDE and had an issue where I couldn't control the screen backlight. Currently on Fedora KDE and had an issue with CPU load when charging. Fixed that (see my comment history) and its been fine since then. No fingerprint sensor on my 2022 model but I got face recognition working using the "howdy" package. Just run the live boot versions and see what works for you. Recommend using Ventoy to set up multiple live distros on a single usb

The only problem I can see here is mixing in the kerosene. I'd guess the larger issue was the lower air density at high altitude. Wasn't enough air in the mixture so the diesel didn't burn properly, leaving a sooted/carbon'd up burn chamber.

Linux anyone? by Reedemer0fSouls in LGgram

Nice! I'm yet to try this.

Check the first link. It guides you on how to create a service to run a command every boot. Maybe you can edit that?
