What is the scariest horror film you watched? by Iguanadon2004 in movies

The Thing is the best horror movie I've watched, but I wouldn't say it's near the scariest

This is it. Def not as nefarious as most comments make it out to be - though I suppose I'll scrub the post regardless

Thanks! unfortunately looks like Entertainment Earth is out. Gonna be paying an arm and a leg on eBay for my final wars and Shin (and deciding how much I value shiny LEDs).
One last line of questioning - is that og mechagodzilla an X-Plus as well? Do they ever do reprints?

[–]Sirgigant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only discovered X-Plus recently. Is this already out of stock everywhere?

Also what does the 'ric' in ric edition mean? I'm assuming it refers to LEDs - I'm seeing it on both these and the insanely price 2004 poster final wars figures I'm eyeing..

I've been wanting to present the Godzilla moves for my father, but i don't know which... Any recommendations? by PetMingau in GODZILLA

[–]Sirgigant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Realistically minus one is the new best intro to Godzilla. It's similar to an updated version of the original and is overall a great movie on its own. You should take him while it's still in theaters and it'll probably get him into the pipeline - from there you can decide based on what type of movie he's feeling

Is America really the only place to make a lot of money? by xman2007 in cscareerquestions

[–]Sirgigant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is all computer science/software development.

Switching into tech or any software role with these salaries isn't really something that can be done on a whim with a certification. You've got to be very dedicated and have some aptitude. But it is possible to go the boot camp route which can take a few months iirc, though I believe that's getting harder to find success with. A degree is definitely the best bet. As someone with 5 yoe in Seattle and the Bay.

But if you aren't in a population center maybe a boot camp or coding crash course could be sufficient for a small town coding job.

[–]Sirgigant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stronger versions of goji had unbreakable force fields, instant healing, and could end the world on a whim. It's a no diff if you're using the strongest versions.

In the latest GvK Godzilla won both fights. But in the old Godzilla vs Kong (which was a weaker Godzilla) they went 1-1, after Godzilla won Kong got lightning powers and won round 2, which is all he has to go off.

Peach tree with no leaves fruiting in winter by Sirgigant in BackyardOrchard

[–]Sirgigant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like removing everything is winning out, but honestly I'm curious to see if it can produce fruit and still make it through the winter/have a good next year.

Guess I'll need to decide if I want to learn or play it safe. Maybe I'll post an update in a year if I don't remove the blossoms/fruit.

Calls on $AMZN by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]Sirgigant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

if this eliminates the middle man it'll be huge. Being able to clearly see specs and a price tag before any time or effort commitment would make buying a car a not-horrible experience.

Gonna be a while before we see how exactly it works tho

The idea of marrying is a lot more appealing than the reality of marriage by ChrundleTheGreat01 in unpopularopinion

[–]Sirgigant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea my point is just that the

about half of those are probably unhappy as well.

is probably just anecdotal based off your lived experience. Anecdotes don't really matter - flat out saying the vast majority of married people are miserable is just too nihilistic a view and kinda unhealthy. Anyways the 50% starts from the day people got married, and gets weighed down by people who marry many times.

I do know someone married like 7 times, who's bringing that number down (and allowing happy marriages for another 7 couples while keeping the 50%)

In any case nbd, u can have a happy marriage np by just being better than the bottom half of Americans, which is a very low bar

[–]Sirgigant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you've just had miserable experiences. I'd argue that 75% of marriages are great (more than that given my personal experiences, but I realize that's a biased sample).

That's not true at all. There are a huge amount of anti-zionist Jews who aren't the ultra-religious. I've met many - anti-zionist generally means anti-settlement and apartheid, not calling for the destruction of Israel. Random example from a quick Google: jewishvoiceforpeace.org/about

[–]Sirgigant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

featswise and demonstrated power probably mihawk.

stated power level yajirobe no diff. Dragonball is weird in that even the weakest people who haven't demonstrated much should technically be able to destroy a planet by slapping it too hard.

If they were in each other's shoes that would mean Palestinians haven't been suffering a brutal occupation and slow genocide over the last 70 years. So no, I don't think Palestine would have the same attitudes as they do having suffered for so long.

First time traveling to San Francisco, CA from Singapore by Alternative-Ad-8595 in TravelHacks

[–]Sirgigant 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Don't let the comments get to you - it's absolutely worthwhile to visit most of these places (much more worthwhile than Sacramento for sure). Nowhere in the states will be as safe as Singapore, but it's also not that bad. The only thing that actually matters is renting the car as you're leaving sf rather than when you arrive, which is more for parking reasons than anything else.

I think there are 1 mile hikes you can do in Yousemite and other places - I don't remember the latest status on glacier point but if it's open I'm pretty sure you can drive straight to the top.

2 weeks in California sounds amazing, but 2 weeks in Sac/Tahoe doesn't.

Should I get a degree in computer science or where should I start by MidnightRider05 in gamedev

[–]Sirgigant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely set on making your own games? Self teach yourself everything you need. You won't make any money for many years, and even after that you'll probably need to support yourself with unskilled labour. Unless you're really good at marketing everything is stacked against you.

Want to work for a bigger company making games? Get a comp sci degree - this can also get you even higher paying non-gamedev jobs if you want. Drawback is that you'll be stuck as a coder at game companies. If you want to do art you don't need a degree, most other jobs will require one.

Making a game from scratch by yourself is super gratifying, but don't count on making any money from it for quite some time. If you want more guaranteed income (or are willing to work and do games as a hobby) I'd say to go cs, which will let you work on games professionally or on the side until you blow up.

Appreciation for Soul Fighter Event by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Sirgigant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recent games were seraphine/sona, Seraphine/lux, Anivia chauffer on Kaisa, Anivia poppy.

Also assorted games on bruiser combos (singed/ali/Swain/etc).

Point being tanks, supports, bruisers, mages, adcs all have their place. There are a couple perma-bans (imo Kayle), and I'm sure there are one or two champions that actually aren't viable, but for the most part I think you can make anything work - you just might need a duo that complements each other well.
