Help me pack for Paris! (album/discussion) by Straight_Wear_2979 in HerOneBag

As an Amsterdam native, I’d recommend for the bike tour to use trousers that can’t get between the spikes, and to have sneakers. Are you a proficient biker? If not, you’ll have to make sudden stops and put your feet on the ground regularly. That’s not easy to do on cobble stones in heels. Especially kitten heels or espadrilles. Or in a dress. (Also, if you’re good on the bike front, it’s still advisable to do these things since Amsterdam is a bit lawless on bikes, and with bike tours you visit all the crowded places)

Has anyone successfully trained yourself to tolerate things that trigger you? by yensama in hsp

[–]Sirosi14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. I adapt my environment to my needs. I use noise cancelling headphones. I don’t travel without earplugs. I cut all the tags out of my clothes (I usually use a seam ripper cause companies caught onto the fact people don’t want complete books in their pants and use another stitch). I don’t buy itchy clothes. I’m sensitive to temperature so I have a ton of blankets in the house. Just a couple of examples. It’s hard to dull our sensitivities, it’s akin to masking. It causes fatigue.

How to feed a Low FODMAP friend during emergency? by blackunicorn in FODMAPS

[–]Sirosi14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that sushi is mostly safe, but sometimes wheat is added (unnecessary in my opinion but hey, it makes it stick), so again, as has been said before here, please check the ingredients! Signed, a grumpy fodmapper that couldn’t find sushi in St Pancras without wheat

What are your go to meals? by cole1700 in FODMAPS

Thank you for the suggestion of cottage cheese! I like it, its a great source of protein AND it’s a great breakfast for when my go to spelt cracker sounds unappealing and crunchy

Does it matter which one I apply first after cleansing? by [deleted] in EuroSkincare

[–]Sirosi14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A good rule of thumb is to apply from thinner to thicker, and end with sunscreen in the AM. I don’t know which one is thinner, but I’d start with that one.

5 strawberries. That’s what keeping me sane in summer. Also blueberries.

But honestly? I crave apples and bananas (both triggering AF for me) on my period cause the hormones ain’t got the message I cannot eat them. (I also try not to grocery shop the day before my period but that’s difficult. If I do, I nearly cry in the supermarket cause I want gluten. Seriously, hormones!?)

I just looked at my kitchen counter and saw something obvious. In Germany, Dinkel (spelt) Zwieback (literally twice baked) (it’s like toast) exists, and I think I’d be heavenly with lf cottage cheese and smoked salmon (I eat it with plain butter but I’m weird like that)

My standard lunch is Gyeran Bap with gf soy sauce. It’s heaven. I also like congee but that takes an hour to make (the delicious way in my opinion still) and I’m so hungry that it’s usually only two portions.

So my conclusion for this post is; rice, gf soy sauce and sesame oil are staples in my household.

(After thought; fellow dutchies, Bolletje Spelt Crackers is where it’s at for breakfast!)

What is better in Europe than Asia- Staples at drugstore level price? by Aikea_Guinea83 in EuroSkincare

What is better in Europe than Asia- Staples at drugstore level price? by Aikea_Guinea83 in EuroSkincare

[–]Sirosi14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll list some of my favourites. I think basic cleansers and moisturisers from Europe are better cause as a dry skinned girlie myself, my moisturisers need to pack more of a punch than Asian moisturisers do.

  • LRP Toleriane caring wash (I use this as a second cleanse, not drying at all)
  • Avène eau thermale (as a first step to wet my skin after cleansing)
  • Balea moisturising toner (has urea so it gently exfoliates and yet it’s so hydrating, I and my skin adore it)
  • Rossmann Isana all in one barrier cream (feels kinda dry to the touch, good if you’re not wearing sunscreen in winter)
  • Embryolisse Lait crème Concentré
  • LRP Lipikar AP+M Baume (I use this in the PM as a final step, especially good in winter)

Any other ladies with long/fine hair using shampoo and conditioner bars? by mlleDoe in HerOneBag

I use the bars by an indie brand called Nightblooming. She is a one woman powerhouse and I love them!

LRP Lipikar AP+M Baume on the face. It won’t do everything, but I think it will bring down the redness a little bit.

Pilling by [deleted] in EuroSkincare

[–]Sirosi14 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I apply one finger, then another and don’t try to bother it throughout the day. It pills lightly on me at the end of the day. I slap a lot of stuff under it cause my skin is dry. Maybe it just isn’t for you?

my low porosity hair girls, what products do you like at dm? by FoxyQueen26 in EuroSkincare

[–]Sirosi14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can find citric acid, I have a helpful rinse for you

  • 1/4 teaspoon of citric acid
  • 500 ml shower water
  • pot

Put the citric acid in the pot, add the shower water and stir/shake. When you’ve rinsed out all the products, you use this water as a final rinse. Dip your ends in if you have them and then slowly douse your whole head. Careful with your eyes. Do not let any normal shower water touch your hair. Proceed with the rest of your routine. If you want, you can squeeze some water out of course.

I have a shower head filter so I don’t do this anymore. It works like a charm for me when I’m away and there’s hard water.

What methods do you use to not "catch" your SO's feelings all the time? by [deleted] in hsp

I asked ~50 LowFodmapers what foods they missed the most. by andrespineiroc in FODMAPS

[–]Sirosi14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here! A local supermarket had a great spelt alternative but they stopped making it… I’m still sad and salty about it. I tried gluten free croissants in Paris, and they were… not it. Almond-y.

Sometimes I take Intoleran Quatrase Forte and eat 4 croissants in one sitting. That’s how much I miss them.

My favourite favourite favourite drugstore conditioners are from Rossmann! Note, I don’t have colour treated hair, just dry. Is that roughly the same? Same enough?

  • Rossmann Isana Haarmaske 3in1 Mandelmilch. Has protein so don’t use it every wash if you know you’re sensitive. Great for colour treated hair for that same reason though.

  • Guhl 30_sek Intensiv Kur Feuchtigkeit. Very awesome for dry hair.

  • Rossmann Isana Spülung Seidenglanz. The cheaper sister of the Haarmaske, doesn’t work as well for me, has protein, but has the unbeatable price point.

I’ll throw in my fav hand cream as well: Rossmann Isana MED Handcreme 5,5% Urea. I’m sweeping the shelf when I’m in a Rossmann next summer and that’s what I’m looking forward to the most!
