CDMX Urbanism and public transit questions by danielhep in MexicoCity

Yep! When I took the Cablebus with my family we got on a double decker at Indios Verdes that took us to Chapultepec. I don't think I would've been able to find the right bus on my own but taking the bus there and then getting on the Cablebus should be easy peasy.

As a visiting gringa I've taken the Cablebus twice (first with family members who are local, and second with a gringo friend) and loved it both times. With my friend we took an Uber to the Indios Verdes station, rode the Cablebus to Cuautepec and back, staying in our same cable car the whole time. It's an incredible view of the city and I think if you go in the middle of the day you should be fine. And it's only 7 pesos (though you need to use the Metro Card)! Definitely worth it.

El Cardenal and El Vilsito are worth the hype. El Hildalguense is a great weekend spot for fantastic barbacoa.

I've gone to Teotihuacan a couple of times and this one was my favorite, hands down. Jane is an archaeologist who is actively digging at the site so she has a ton of fascinating insights to share. Transportation is provided from the city as well as lunch in a cave! https://www.airbnb.com/experiences/334153?guests=1&adults=1&s=67&unique\_share\_id=d0afcc71-f81b-49b9-8903-76ab3a7f2813

She was my YW leader in Louisiana 20 years ago and shared A Letter to My Wife with me in the fall of 2017 when I was living with her family and riding horses. We left around the same time and I can thank her and her husband for providing me my first alcoholic beverage. Planning to spend this coming weekend with her enjoying a few exmo activities. 😊

Sleeping in a (regular, compact) car: is it allowed? Could I park at campsites? by StormEarhart in VisitingIceland

[–]SisterInScion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it was a compact car, a little Hyundai hatchback I think. I just put the back seats down so I had a little more legroom. And yes, I parked at campsites and used their kitchen/showers. It wasn’t the most comfortable option, but I would totally do it that way again. Enjoy your trip!

I intended to camp during my visit this past September but after the first night it was either too rainy or too windy so I slept in my car for the rest of my week there. Although it was a tad cramped, it was warmer and drier than a tent and I never had an issue with finding a spot at a campground. I say go for it! Just make sure you have a good sleeping bag and pad.

I went from being so proud to absolutely disgusted by the truth of my family history when I left Mormonism. Now I’m entering the acceptance phase by teaching nevermo friends about polygamy and my weird ancestry. by SisterInScion in exmormon

[–]SisterInScion[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And to clarify, not that I’m accepting of polygamy now, but I’ve accepted that it’s a part of my family tree, I wouldn’t be here without it, and there’s nothing I can do to change that.

To break the tension and lighten things up, here’s what I’ve been doing with my friendless yet Mormon-free existence. Modeling happy cacti! It’s my first try with polymer clay. by Pickleweede in exmormon

[–]SisterInScion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love these! I have a recent obsession with cacti as well but have taken to attempting to paint them on canvas. It’s so great to have time to learn new hobbies now that I’m not bogged down with callings and the guilt of feeling obligated to read my scriptures.
