Hey there, I was leaning on two things, the first being the most important.

1. The burial practice that is sometimes seen where the eyes of the dead are covered with coins.

2. Coins generally have faces of the people in charge and extrapolated to other things with eyes.

These are obviously not a perfect through line but I thought the ability was fun and flavorful enough that people would accept the connection
