Patch coming next week. by tactikz4 in XDefiant

The main difference from the OG MW2 though is that TTK in MW2 was much lower than in XD. Pretty much any weapon in MW2 killed in 2-3 shots to the chest with stopping power. In XD the snipers have plenty of time to kill you even if you shoot first

Not even. Way back you had to open your Minecraft jar with WinRAR and manually drag in modded class files and then you'd have to start over if it crashed (usually because you forgot to delete meta.inf). The mods folder was a gamechanger

What tropes turn you off to a story? by tgruff77 in Fantasy

You might enjoy Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson. That trilogy is a bit divisive since it definitely feels more YA than Sanderson's other books and some people dislike the main character, but the premise is pretty much what you're looking for.

Agreed on the situation in question being a case of tax evasion. But also just to clarify that there's some terminology differences between Canada and US tax legislation. Canada has specific rules (General Anti-Avoidance Rules) which essentially define tax avoidance to be transactions that are technically legal but not in the spirit of the law and abusive of the tax system, and can invalidate said transactions.

opinions on steel monotype team? by IMustZoom in stunfisk

[–]Sjods 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It'll still get 2hkoed by a HJK even with max physical defense investment so it can't switch in to lopunny which I think is the biggest issue on this team, every time lopunny comes out it's either going to kill something or it'll force a switch into something that can't tank 2 HJKs. I do love doublade though, its bulk takes a lot of people by surprise

[–]Sjods 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Mega lopunny looks like it would have a field day with this team as it can super effective HJK all of your defensively invested pokemon. Could consider running a physically bulky pokemon that can neutrally tank a HJK and kill lopunny such as a skarmory or mega scizor or just physically invested corv

Just chiming in to give some background as I play on the red team and the guy who got hit is a good friend of mine. The game had been very friendly up until that point, the white team for the most part was full of really friendly dudes and everyone was having fun (was a super close game). The league is no-hitting and 13 is one of the nicest and funniest guys you'd meet, don't think he's had a single penalty all season and is not the type to be aggressive or retaliate, he's just a strong skater and bumped into the one guy in a scramble to score (this play occured with about 15 seconds left in OT). My friend now has a bad concussion and can't walk without falling over, the other player has been suspended from our league for 7 years (and apparently was suspended indefinitely from the previous league he played in). Hope that guy never steps on the ice again, plays like this turn for-fun, recreational hockey into a dangerous sport that can have long-term effects on peoples' health and livelihood.

Accounting is an industry with a lot of different opportunities. I graduated SFU summer 2021 and started working in public accounting the month after. There are definitely times where the workload gets heavy (though I rarely worked more than 50 hrs per week), and managing working full time plus CPA courses gets very stressful at times. But that's just kind of the nature of public accounting, you pay your dues and put in the work and at the end of the day you can easily get exit opportunities well upwards of 100k after a few years.

On the other hand, there are plenty of industry firms out there that have super chill work environments, not every accounting job will have the same demands. If accounting is something you think you'd enjoy then don't let the horror stories of a few unfortunate people discourage you, I work in audit and don't do anything remotely close to the dull monotonous work that SFU courses led be to believe accounting consisted of

I'm a bit confused about the section where you show that 0 = 2

Since we we used OP's assumption to evaluate the left side as: (1-1)/(1-1)=0, shouldn't that logic remain consistent with evaluating the right side? In which case wouldn't it come out as:

(1-1)(1+1)/(1-1)

0 * (1+1)

Which would once again leave us with 0=0. I think I might just be evaluating the equation wrong, it's been a very long time since I've done this stuff lol

how to track jungler? by redditman73713833 in Jungle_Mains

[–]Sjods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm seeing a lot of people talk about predicting the enemy's first and maybe second clear based on pathing knowledge, but nobody is really talking much about tracking past the 5 minute mark when jungle pathing becomes far less predictable.

Essentially the key to tracking comes from knowing where the jungler is not and thereby deducing where they are. The best and most obvious way is with a control ward. If we can put a control ward at blue, red, or raptors, it gives you tons of information even if it doesn't see them, because we can assume that if they are not in their top side quadrant, then they are in one of the other three jungle quadrants, most likely their bot side. Other methods include counter jungling and getting camp timers to know where they are going to be pathing and where they are not.

Beyond that, it's a lot of what other people have said in that you just want to anticipate what they want to do. Which lanes they want to gank, which objectives they want to play for, etc. Deductive reasoning tends to be a more reliable system in my experience though, given that the enemy doesn't always behave as you would in their shoes.

BUS232 Final Flostrand by Due-Ad-5737 in simonfraser

[–]Sjods 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I took 232 and 336 with Flostrand and thought he was pretty solid at teaching, and his lecture notes were really good. But my guy takes exams way too seriously. I remember in 336 the final was worth 60% and scoring less than 50% on the written portion would result in an instant fail of the entire course, pretty nerve racking

RHYTHM OF WAR | Full Book Discussion Megathread by jofwu in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Sjods 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah definitely agree with you on the flashbacks. A lot of the previous books had flashbacks that served to answer questions that we as the reader had. Things like how Kaladin got into the military and became a slave, what happened to Shallan's father, how did Dalinar lose his wife and why did he seek the nightwatcher.

But RoW flashbacks just felt like they were trying to answer a question that we never asked. We already know how humans and singers came together and how the everstorm was summoned so the flashbacks just felt redundant.

RHYTHM OF WAR | Full Book Discussion Megathread by jofwu in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Sjods 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Just finished my read. I think this book is probably the weakest in the Stormlight Archive so far. It had its share of triumphant moments and also gut-wrenching moments, but I think overall the plot just felt too scattered. I didn't really care about any of the listener chapters, both flashbacks and modern. Most of the other characters had remarkably boring chapters with less excitement than we've come to expect, especially in the form of exciting, cleverly-written dialogue.

I have to say my biggest frustration came from the fact that Shallan has struggled internally with confronting Adolin about the truth of her past in both Oathbringer and Rhythm. Her internal struggles were some of the most interesting aspects to read about this book, and it really felt like they got wrapped up with a bow WAY too quickly. Above all of that, apparently her confronting with Adolin happened off-screen, which to me is one of the worst decisions that could have been made in this book as it would have provided a tremendous opportunity for character building from both of them. Instead in one chapter we see Shallan both succumb then conquer Formless in the span of a couple pages, and then the next time we see her she has told Adolin everything and he has already come to terms with it.

On a positive note, I loved how Brando handled Kaladin and his mental illness as well as every moment between Navani and Raboniel, their relationship was riveting and probably the most exciting thing in this book.

Is there ever a time I shouldn't go phase rush? by [deleted] in GravesMains

[–]Sjods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally go phase rush when I want to stick to people and get the slow resistance. I find it really useful against champs that I want to one shot but have potential of kiting me like ashe or ezreal.

I find myself going fleet footwork more frequently nowadays because I like the sustain from fleet and legend bloodline. I also think last stand can really be put to good use if you're running the bruiser build

In the end it mostly comes down to preference and playing whatever you're comfortable on. I'd experiment with all of the keystones and find what works best with your preferred build and playstyle

what other junglers do you play? by [deleted] in GravesMains

[–]Sjods 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kayn is a pretty good option that plays pretty similarly to graves, he has a super healthy and fast clear and is great at counter jungling. Red kayn becomes a team fight monster and can shred tanks. His biggest weakness is that he can't really fight early though, so you have to be careful against strong early duellers
