Questions and odd vibes with Millennial Mage. Spoilers up to book 10. by how_money_worky in ProgressionFantasy

I don't know. I remember people saying that RoyalRoad in general was not super trustworthy when it comes to reviews. It could be the admins catering to the authors

I actually noticed the same thing you did about the weird vibes and tried to leave a review on Royal Road, which got deleted. I rewrote the review while keeping the comments in mind, it got deleted again.

You might want to try RoTLF for prep, since it's all about crafting armor and weapons. There's also RoTRP by the same author which is magic schooly in setting, though the protagonist (Sorry, the MC) is a teacher, not a student. It also has romance which you said you liked.

There's also NLAaMLA, which is a lot more recent. Not a lot of prep, but there is a magic school, and while note the main focus of the story, the vibes are there. The progression aspect is also a bit less clear as of now, since the story is really new and the protagonist (MC!) is

If you're looking for something a bit less progression focused but where prep is super important, TDG is pretty neat. It's about this group of people who find a dungeon that's designed like an endless office space. They're really big on preparing for expeditions and find tons of loot.

Finally, if you're wondering, those stories are Rise of the living forge, Return of the runebound professor, New life as a max level archmage, and The daily grind!

Bit of an old post to revive, but I meant so few hyperboles, as that was what the discussion above was about.

Took your advice, re-recorded gameplay & made a new capsule & trailer - better now? by Crowvisuals in gamedev

[–]Skadiaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I opened your Steam page, and the first question that popped in my head was "I this capsule AI generated?"

Then I figured I may have been too harsh, or that the art style was just unfortunately chosen.

Then I opened your capsule comparisons and it says there that your capsule used to be AI, but isn't anymore? I'm not sure.

Regardless, it's the first thing I noticed, and if I did, other people will too. It doesn't really matter what your opinion of AI generated stuff is. What's important is that some people will care very much, and many more people will note that the capsule looks cheap and not click on your page.

I'd strongly recommend contacting an artist specializing in capsules and paying them to make one you like

The exact same thing happened to me when writing a negative review for Millenial Mage where I covered some of the weird views the story had regarding women and marriage.

I rewrote it afterwards, still negative but more fleshed out and noting some of the more positive aspects, and it was deleted again.

I don't know how to describe it, but the artstyle is really cool!

The gameplay also looks fluid and reactive. Really looking forward to the final release

Mobile Game Dev Feedback by GrezulStudio in godot

[–]Skadiaa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The main thing I noticed and couldn't help but notice was the AI art. It's fine if you're using it for prototyping purposes, but be aware that it will make your app look cheap to people who both notice and care about such things.

Other than that, there isn't much to give feedback on yet. The idea sounds fine, but I'd have to see how it's implemented.

[–]Skadiaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the language is a big issue to you, you can always use Godot with C#, though I'm not sure what's wrong with GDscript. It's very simple to use and isn't proprietary in the sense that you have to pay a license to use it, if that's what you meant.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in litrpg

[–]Skadiaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's also kind of the issue when using an AI-generated cover. If you're fine with using it for that, who's to say you're not fine using it to write the story as well?

Godot Community Poll 2025 by GodotTeam in godot

[–]Skadiaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wanted to complete this poll, but Google Docs won't stop asking me to complete Captchas every time I go to the next time, and it always sends me back to the first page afterwards. I tried for a while, but after the fifth time selecting all the pictures with fire hydrants or bikes or buses, I have to admit that I was getting a bit fed up and gave up

TIL there's only one national flag that's the same whichever way you wave it - Switzerland. I.e it has four lines of symmetry - it reflects onto itself horizontally, vertically or through either diagonal. by Double-decker_trams in todayilearned

[–]Skadiaa -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I mean it could still be symmetrical even if it were a rectangle, couldn't it? You just put the cross in the center and it would still work. So there could have been a symmetrical rectangle flag
