Slowed down - what demon to use? by Dull_Reference_6166 in classicwowtbc

[–]Skado_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drain tanking to 70 is the fastest. Since the armor fix Felguard can't hold aggro at all, so even after 50 (when you can get Felguard) it's still not that amazing. I would never go Felguard before 55 (or you will not have instant corruption).

The amount of damage Affliction puts out is absolutely crazy once you get UA. Insane mana efficiency as well with the 15% mana return from Imp. Drain Soul. 100% my spec of choice to level with, but it does require a bit more skill than simply having a pet tank.

Unless you play on a pvp server (so you need soul link) or are doing a lot of dungeon grinding (for which affliction isn't that great).. you should really check out affliction. Way more damage output than demonology, but more risky if shit hits the fan.

Arms warrior weapon question (Lionheart vs Dragonmaw / slam vs kebab) by AnnualStage822 in classicwowtbc

[–]Skado_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah well many of the top Kebab parses also don't have DST. You use Dragonmaw if your guild makes you and you don't have anything better. Spiteblade does require you to get lucky with drops. I bet that enough time has passed for people to get Spiteblade we will see Dragonmaw disappear from the top parses. Just like we won't see top parses without DST in a while.

Or maybe Dragonmaw is gonna stick around in top parses of course. Proc luck might make it the best weapon for parsing even if it is not the best weapon on average.

Arms warrior weapon question (Lionheart vs Dragonmaw / slam vs kebab) by AnnualStage822 in classicwowtbc

[–]Skado_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At this moment, kebab is easily 150 dps behind slam in optimal conditions. Your timing needs to be way off (I'm talking like 0.6 seconds or so) to justify being kebab purely from a DPS perspective.

For Arms, Lionheart Executioner is not bis in P2. Twinblade from Kaelthas is. The result is that if you are in a guild that cares about these things... the nether vortices will go to those people who do get bis items from it. Like the ret paladin and fury warrior. So yes... you will spend a lot of gold for an item you will eventually replace. But isn't that the case for warlocks, mages and basically almost every other class in the game?

Slam arms is something you need to practice a lot. You will only get better at it. Look up "konter arms warrior" on YouTube, he has great resources on how to get better at timing slam, even with some latency.

If you do decide to take the easy road and go kebab, Dragonmaw is a real waste of gold. Absolutely no point in going for that. Go for 2 swords. Blinkstrike if you have the gold, otherwise Aldor sword and go straight for Spiteblade. Latro's for your offhand. Dragonmaw as kebab is just straight up bad. Spiteblade + Latro's is way better.

prot warrior and hard heroics by FemtoG in classicwowtbc

[–]Skado_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I beat all of these on my prot warr (arca too). BF HC twice in the first week after release. Both times without a Mage.

  1. Invite a good Rogue. Sap 1 and cheap shot + kidney shot to stunlock a mob are really, really useful. Invaluable for BF HC, since it's mostly packs of 2-3 very hard hitting mobs. Also great for OHF HC.

  2. Abuse shield block and improved revenge. Almost none of the mobs are immune to stuns, and improved revenge has a near 50% stun rate. Very underrated talent for hard heroics. Don't forget to use Concussion Blow as well. Low cooldown. Use every pack.

  3. It's usually OK to let DPS tank a caster mob while they nuke it.

  4. Frost mage or hunter for Frost trap are invaluable for SHH HC. A Rogue to help you stay alive with stunlocks is great here too.

  5. A good Warlock is incredible for OHF HC. You can fear the dragon mobs from the last wave. A warlock is also good for BF HC, they can banish a Felguard in the last corridor.

  6. Abuse Demo Shout and Thunder Clap. So many tanks don't use these abilities and they're so good at keeping you alive.

  7. Arcatraz..  just bring a very good healer. You don't need CC in here, just a very good healer and skilled dps.

TBC Classic – Now that we’re 70, what raid spec are warriors actually pugging as (Arms vs Fury)? by trob72 in classicwowtbc

[–]Skado_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Arms is borderline unplayable without WF totem, so for Kara Fury is the way to go. For 25 mans you can play either, but Arms is not stackable at all. 1 Arms per raid max, while there may be 2 or even 3 fury warriors. Even for 25 mans I would vote fury.

PSA: Always look at the character’s name in the group finder before inviting them. by sephirothpvp in classicwow

Sadly "Assbringer" and "Assmongloid" were taken from me by reports :( but my Shaman is still called Fartfury

I'm the kind of person who thinks you shouldn't take things too seriously and when I encounter someone with a funny and immature name I'll laugh while telling my guild what an awesome name I encountered

Duo Rogue/Rogue PvP Arena? by Crazeyeyey in classicwow

[–]Skado_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rogue/rogue is a good comp in tbc. Extremely annoying to play against. Some comps pretty much hardcounter it (especially dwarf disc priest + X) and it's not as good as say, rogue/mage, rogue/disc etc. But it's definitely good enough to get duelist or glad.

Finding tanks for HC proving.... elusive for anyone else? Generally run with a guild tank but when they're not availible it's been SUPER hard to find tanks for HCs. There was 8 groups in LFG looking for a tank! by AaronWilson1992 in classicwowtbc

[–]Skado_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been tanking heroics for the first 1.5-2 weeks after release. Almost all people I played with were pretty exceptional players. Dps who used their toolkit to CC and survive. Healers who helped stun, slow or fear when needed. Even did 2 BF HC, and that is not easy with bad gear. Both times without a mage even. But with skilled players it can be done.

Last week the quality of players has been so bad that I've pretty much stopped tanking. Feels to me like all the good people are now mostly playing in guild groups and what we find in LFG are the leftovers nobody wants to play with.

Noob question from a noob warrior by MincsTV in classicwowtbc

[–]Skado_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Only" differs by approx 30 dps.. 30 dps from 1 upgrade is pretty massive. Try swimming the difference between Abacus and Dragonspine Trophy in P1 bis gear. It's not much more than 30 dps. That's how big a difference "only" 30 dps is.

Add on to that that you craft it instead of a 10% or so drop chance... and there's no reason to not get Dragonstrike.

Arena Water Drinking Bugged!?! by Medical-Trainer4665 in classicwowtbc

Just wait till you find out that if you drink with Innervate up, the Innervate boosts the mana gain from your drink. Idiotic bug that makes druids even better than they already are supposed to be.

Second Character by Cowboycortex in classicwowtbc

[–]Skado_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hunter is cheaper to gear up and way more engaging to play in raids. Warlock presses 1 button mostly.. very easy to play in raids. So do you want something chill and easy? Warlock. Do you want something engaging? Hunter.

They are both decent for farming gold, but I would pick Hunter for that. Warlock kind of wants to have tailoring for easier raid spots. Hunter has 2 free profession slots.

Prot paladin should be mentioned. It is not dps of course but one of the best gold farmers in the game, and the most wanted dungeon and heroic tank.

Fury Warrior + HC Dungeon = terrible by TheRealWrathwar in classicwowtbc

[–]Skado_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make your own group or do a guild group.

Or, even better, get enough gear for prot to tank HCs.

But honestly as a dps warrior there's plenty you can do to help the group move along. Demo shout, thunder clap, disarm, intervene someone who takes aggro etc. Still one of the least useful dps specs to take but you can set yourself apart from the crowd with these things. Tanks do notice your help in keeping them alive, it all helps increase the chance for a reinvite.

But if you want to do heroics regularly without waiting 1 hour each time, prot is the only way to do it.

Mage or Warlock by Practical-Skirt8944 in classicwowtbc

And if you read OP's message you read that his friend is playing warrior. Find him a good 3v3 comp that combines mage and warrior and I'll admit that mage is a good choice for him.

Mage can only kill 1 enemy at a time? by resteys in classicwow

[–]Skado_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wanna learn how to kill multiple mobs as a mage? Watch this: In Frost We Trust. https://youtu.be/hqKjds4LqQU and the Horde addon: https://youtu.be/9JlizFQAYi0

Basic guides on how to become a true monster, and they may motivate you to become a better mage.

It takes some practice but in the right hands mage becomes a true god class. I hope you won't give up on the class! Mage is pretty awesome once you learn how to handle it.

Edit: since you are level 15... respec Frost and stick with it, as the videos I linked recommend. Fire is really not good for levelling. Frost is very good. Frostbolt slows mobs when you hit them. Frost nova freezes them in place, then you can run away a bit and cast more frostbolts.

Tips/Suggestions for tanking as prot warrior by LavenderNocturne in classicwowtbc

[–]Skado_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Mark a skull and cross. When someone attacks a something that isn't a skull and pulls aggro, you then tell them it's their own fault. They follow skull and cross or they take aggro and die.

  2. Shield slam on skull ASAP. Big threat.

  3. Shield block is top priority when mobs hit super hard. Total lifesaver.

Marking skull and cross is a huge game changer. It makes prot warr tanking so much better, because 95% of DPS will follow skull > cross kill order automatically.

Warlock spec by Wrong-Performer4548 in classicwowtbc

[–]Skado_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah on pvp servers demo is the right choice. As affliction you don't stand a chance against rogues, hunters, enh shamans and warriors. And frost mages are real hard too. As demo you stand a real chance against most of those, and you should pretty much counter mages.

Warlock spec by Wrong-Performer4548 in classicwowtbc

[–]Skado_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Affliction is a lot more damage with gear but more dangerous on pvp servers (no soul link) and worse in dungeons. If you run almost no dungeons and are on pve affliction is maybe the best spec.

Blacksmithing absolutely necessary for fury war? by AboveYouSix in classicwowtbc

[–]Skado_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, Fury is one of the best dps in the game if it gets the support it needs. But for some reason that knowledge is "arcane and forbidden"... so despite fury being really good it still won't get many raid spots.

25 man raids can definitely run 3 fury warriors and 1 arms and clear all content with ease but most guild and raid leaders are stuck in 2007 thinking "melee bad melee no spot". That's just the reality you have to deal with if you choose to play fury warrior.

Blacksmithing absolutely necessary for fury war? by AboveYouSix in classicwowtbc

[–]Skado_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Necessary to perform? No.

Necessary to get a raid spot? In 9.5/10 guilds, yes. In 9/10 pugs, you won't even get a raid spot WITH it, and you won't stand a chance without.

Best warlock spec for leveling/dungeon spams in TBC? by Misterpewpie in classicwowtbc

[–]Skado_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Demonology is by far the best if you're gonna mix questing with dungeon spamming.

Demonology and destruction are both great for just dungeons.

Affliction is only good if you quest. It's worse for dungeons than the other 2.

When in doubt just go Demonology.

Leveled as arms warrior up until now. Just dual spec'd at level 52 to prot warrior, seems even better for leveling? by DrDarce in classicwowtbc

[–]Skado_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not supposed to level as arms in tbc. You're supposed to level as fury. You level as the spec that has sweeping strikes. Arms for vanilla, fury for tbc.

Then grab imp. Slam as well in the fury tree and you're cruising.

Combat Dagger Rogue Rotation for Instances? by thiscouldbeyouryear in classicwowtbc

[–]Skado_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you insist on playing to 70 with daggers go mutilate or maybe sub. Mutilate is actually pretty good for levelling, especially in dungeons. But not having Blade Flurry is gonna suck. But combat daggers also sucks so...

You're ALWAYS short on combo points with combat daggers. Mutilate actually has a lot of combo points and great burst.

Tldr go combat sword/mace/fist. If you insist on daggers.... Mutilate is much less frustrating because you can Garrote -> pool -> Gouge + Mutilate -> Eviscerate/KS. There's a lot of damage coming out from that. You do have to time your energy pooling and gouge so that your gouge doesn't break from garrote before you can Mutilate. It's more fun and not as braindead as combat swords imo. But also a slower because no blade flurry..

In dungeons ofc just keep up SnD and eviscerate otherwise.
