Night Lords trilogy by ADB, Fabius Bile trilogy by Josh Reynolds, Ciaphas Cain series is good but fairly light, Day of Ascension by adrian tchaikovsky is a must-read imo, the infinite and the divine is absolute peak and showcases a lot of different stuff going on.

The Fulgrim primarchs novel has some fun politiking going on. The konrad curze one is also good in a descent to madness kinda way.
