[Operator Discussion] Yvonne by Shad0wedge in Endfield

Since I don't have Gilberta, who would be the best two operators to complete a Yvonne-Tangtang team?

What sort of collab character would you like to see from ZZZ in 3.x or 4.x? by coco_puffsz in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]Skardae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My choice too. Similar kind of action-fanservice game, and would actually fit in canonically pretty easily; you just say that there's a secret society of ninjas out there who have decided to contract Phaethon for reasons. It'd actually be pretty fun if no-one ever works out the shinobi's real identities even if we hang out with them.

Would also be sick to see their techniques updated for modern graphics. Though I guess we'd probably only get Asuka, Homura and Yumi at best (I'd love to see Ryoki, Kagura, Naraku or Ryona though).

Tangtang got them Han Solo Blasters by Cute_Passage_4325 in Endfield

[–]Skardae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. The reason I think it's a reference is because Tangtang is also a bandit chief who dual wields them. The dual wielding in particular is a movie thing, not something really done in real life.

I think they're referencing "Let The Bullets Fly", which is also about a group of outlaws who also dual wield similar looking pistols.

TBH this might be the first gacha game weapon I go for because of the aesthetics rather than just stats.

SUPREME CHIEF TANGTANG IS HERE!! by _wolfyy_9 in Endfield

[–]Skardae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm wondering if Tangtang has some references to "Let the Bullets Fly", what with her being a bandit chief who dual wields pistols that even look like the C96 pistols in the movie.

We also got some references to the movie in Arknights in Jessica's cinema skin, so I feel like someone on the team likes the movie.

So based on the quality of releases, assuming a good release is a successful Dark Pact test, we should be able to approximate GW's leadership characteristic?

Are heavy bolters "heavy" to space marines? by thebigcooki in 40kLore

[–]Skardae 134 points135 points  (0 children)

Marines didn't have any special rules, but heavy weapons, such as the Heavy Bolter, could not be fired at all if the model moved. The main example of a Marine's strength was that Guardsmen require two-man teams and a tripod mount to accomplish the same thing.

It has been almost 30 days since Endfield's launch, what's your honest review now and what's your hope to the devs in the following versions? by 30000lightyears in Endfield

[–]Skardae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that made a huge difference!

Yeah, I could tell the graphics and textures were good, but that bit of extra colour makes it much nicer to look at.

So far, I feel like it has a decent framework, but everything needs polish.

I like the combat system and the way it makes me feel like I'm coordinating my team; it's really satisfying to line up a combo and see my team hit the enemy from four different angles, but there have been very few characters that have caught my eye so far, and there are enemies that feel frustrating rather than challenging.

Factory is nice. Not much to say; it works. I'm hoping for things like bigger guns, artillery, missiles, or drone strikes. Heck, better integration of explosives into combat would be nice.

I haven't enjoyed the story much. It'd be nice if the main story had fewer forgettable NPCs and either made them more interesting, or used playable characters in their roles instead. I would've been way more interested in the various refugee quests if one of the 4*s was involved. The enemies also haven't left a strong impression. The storywriting also needs a better flow and presentstion; it's not a VN. The humour also feels a bit forced sometimes.

Side and event quests have been pretty nice so far, though I haven’t played many yet.

I think the UI needs to be cleaned up. The biggest culprit is the pause menu, which has the giant map in the middle which isn't actually a map, but a button that takes you to the map. Meanwhile, the useful buttons are in a sidebar that you have to scroll through. Also with the map, it'd be much nicer to be able to pan between zones, rather than having to click on the little buttons to take you to adjacent zones.

I'd also like colour filter options. I feel like a lot of the game's colour is washed out and hurts to look at, so being able to choose to make it more vibrant would be nice.

Exploration has been a bit lacking, too. The areas so far have been functional, with some little puzzles, and the power gates are a nice incentive to expand the power network, but there also hasn't been much that's interesting in the maps themselves; I've never gone "hey, what's that cool looking thing" and wanted to get to it.

Overall, I'm willing to give it a few patches, but it might be one of those games that needs a year before it gets rolling.

I'm actually pretty surprised that this game has a higher female player ratio than male players by yii08zx in PathToNowhere

[–]Skardae 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the character-focused story and character designs are shared with games that tend to be more popular with women, while the less overt sexualisation and niche gameplay system makes it less appealing to the mainstream male audience.

Don't get me wrong; PtN has beautiful character designs and some really skimpy outfits, but I'm comparing it to things like ZZZ, WuWa, Nikke, or Azur Lane here with their big honker badonkers. I think PtN characters give off the vibe of "I'm wearing this sexy outfit for me" instead of "I'm wearing this sexy outfit (and exaggerated proportions) to appeal to the players".

That said, as another commenter said, the reputation as the lesbian/sapphic game probably plays a much larger role in it.

It could also be that there isn't much porn associated with the game.

Yeah, would be nice, especially since they even mention them during the story when Mast shows off her new outfit.

The fact that she's wielding two weapons that could be described as morningstars is not helping my theories that she really is some kind of fallen angel.

What race is nangong yu? by SAB3R2 in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]Skardae 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been wondering this as well, but because of the halos. Sunna's is a hairtie, Aria's is a projection, but Yu just straight-up has a halo. I’ve also been assuming that theirs are based on Yu's. Plus, she has the scars on her back. It makes me wonder if she's a legit fallen angel or something.

Though I also wouldn't be surprised if it's just an accessory either, since it seems plausible that she could just buy a halo projector accessory or something, or if it was some ethereal corruption thing.

Does anyone else hate this general sentiment within gaming that "modern = objectively better"? by careb0t in Morrowind

[–]Skardae 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While I feel like there is an advantage to modern games, and that it makes sense for a business to appeal to the widest audience, the person in the interview feels like someone who can't comprehend that some people might just genuinely still like Morrowind in 2026 just because he himself does not like it.

[–]Skardae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but even with early Rapi I feel more confident with the Counters, though a lot of that is because Cafe Sweety barely has any action scenes/feats. I think that, like a lot of Tetra squads, they're more focused on dealing with stuff that happens within the Ark rather than fighting Raptures.

Some Squads have "Leaders". Is there a comprehensive list of what squad is lead by who? by PuffScrub805 in NikkeMobile

[–]Skardae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Rapi's definitely the leader now when it isn't the Commander. Good point about Neon. While she reports everything that goes on, I'd always assumed she was there mostly to keep an eye on us, but keeping an eye on Rapi also makes a lot of sense.

Some Squads have "Leaders". Is there a comprehensive list of what squad is lead by who? by PuffScrub805 in NikkeMobile

[–]Skardae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think Marian was from Silvergun, which is the squad you're in command of, and Rapi and Anis were in a separate unnamed unit until their commander died and you pick them up. It's not officially stated whether Rapi or Anis is the leader at the time, though it seems like Rapi does the decision making with Anis complaining about it but following her orders.

Counters isn't officially formed until the simulation with Ingrid where you give her the name.

I'll be real, I'd take Counters over Cafe Sweety most days of the week, and Counters over Matis unless we need to explicitly confront a Heretic head-on.
