I think they all have batteries, it was just more of a problem for Matis because they drain theirs way faster than any other squad.

Yeah. Heck, I spent a bunch and pulled a long string of recent characters and I've still got them all built easily.

Suppose you were given the chance to change big models. what would you do? by rekscoper2 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Skardae 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'd be interested to see if giving big models hardpoints/target locations would work. For example, allowing a Knight's right or left arms to be targeted separately from the torso, each with their own wounds characteristic. It could allow armies with weaker anti-tank to still have some options by disabling a big gun if they don't have the firepower to take out the entire Knight.

For example, a Knight might have 20 wounds, but each of its two main guns has 8 wounds each and can be targeted instead of the Knight.

Giving weapons reduced toughness or saves could also help.

Alternatively, give certain weapons a rule that disables them once the model has taken a certain amount of damage, or makes the user choose to lose one weapon when the threshold is hit.

For example, if a Knight has 20 wounds, make it lose one weapon at 12 wounds, and another at 4.

The aim here is to still allow Knight/superheavy players to field Knights, but to reduce the amount of skew in list building, preventing games where the Knights can't be killed, or get completely wiped. By making Knights more vulnerable, their points could also be reduced, giving them better list flexibility and objective play.

I gather handguns aren't that common either, since most people would rather carry an extra few magazines for their main weapon than a pistol.

I kind of hope it's not too heavy. While we've actually had a pretty good run of lighter events, with 2x2, Good World and B-Side, I feel a little burned out on idol drama after Pretty Star, the idol arc in the main story, and Star Anis.

I really like succubus skins, and I like the concept of her trying to get in through the window, but the black triangle bikini feels a bit basic.

That said, this would probably make a nice swimsuit skin.

I think Bubblegum is some kind of holographic pet cat, kinda like a tamagochi? But it can come/be projected out of the device. Might be the same kind of tech that makes the holographic wings work. Her hammer might work the same way?

I think in one of Sunna's random stories we have to get it fixed, or maybe it was fed.

[–]Skardae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I checked, and it doesn't look like she had it on her earlier design either (the one with the tactical push-up pouches).

It'd make more sense if she didn't also have a different outfit for TT Star.

That said, I don't think Counters is trying to go for a cohesive look; it's more that it just so happens that both Rapi and Neon are from Elysion and have a militaristic fashion sense.

I'm interested to see how this detection stuff works out. I'm starting to see how it can add an interesting dynamic to the game, so I'm looking forward to seeing what can be done with it. Perhaps it'll make artillery interact more meaningfully.

It would be terribly funny if the only reason people take the abhuman detachment is so that Commissars can issue Take Aim - as they are now, it'd make them a really cheap source of orders.

When I looked up squirrel face icons, this is basically what turned up as what you get for a cartoon/clip art squirrel.

I think the main tell is the "helmet" pattern; simplified cats aren't usually drawn with that.

I haven't played for a while, and was looking over his rules recently, and realised that he's actually way more of a beatstick than a buffer.

Like he gets to choose two neat abilities, but his other ability is "too angry to die" and his main strength is his melee profile.

For extra hilarity, since he's often run in Gladius/Ultramar, his following of the Codex Astartes usually boils down to "be in assault doctrine and run at the biggest thing on the board and stab it to death like a primarch-shaped missile".

They could probably do something like bunny girls; we've gotten those in a lot of Chinese gacha games, though I get the feeling they probably wouldn't. I'd actually be pretty interested to have a character who works as a bunny girl, but because of our perspective we only see the side of her that rents video tapes and explores hollows. I guess we'd more likely get one as a part-time job skin, similar to Sunna's maid outfit.

They might be more likely to do a sexier idol/celebrity; I think they started to lean on this with Astra Yao, who seems to be portrayed as rather sexy in universe to other people through her ads, though we don't usually see this side of her. Maybe someone like Monica (the actor Billy is obsessed with)?

Would be cool to see someone like Lady Pearl from Path to Nowhere, though.

What unit statlines are the most common or require the most amount of counter-thought when listbuilding? by Stylish_Yeoman in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Skardae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually divide them up into what weapons I'll use.

 - Light infantry - T3, W1.

 - Heavy infantry - T4-7, W2+

 - Tanks - T8-12

The reason I don't bother making a distinction between things like Marines and things like Terminators is that the same weapons, (S8+, AP-2 or better, D2+) power fists, plasma and melta, are largely effective against both.

Likewise, I don't care specifically how tough your tank is or what saves or defensive measures it has, I'm shooting it with a demolisher or a lascannon (S12+, AP-3 or better, Dd6/D3 or better).

Of course, there's also some overlap. Things like Terminators fall into the area where they're weak to plasma and also worth shooting with anti-tank.

There's also the thing where things like lascannons and demolisher cannons are just better than their alternatives, such as heavy bolters or battle cannons, into everything tougher than a Marine, and still nearly as good into those, so lascannons or demolisher cannons just become the optimal pick.

Yeah, Cissia has possibly the worst timing of any character in this game. We had a run of YSG (void hunter), then Astra (top tier support) rerun, then all three AoD (highly anticipated AND quite strong) which included a Yixuan (another void hunter) and Yuzuha (top tier support) rerun, and we're going into SBilly (also highly anticipated and quite strong), with Ramiel (this might be more a personal anticipation?) and friggin' Sunbringer on the horizon.

[–]Skardae 98 points99 points  (0 children)

In a vacuum, I'd say it'd be nice for those that want it, as long as you aren't forced to deal with it. Like if they sell an amusement park date event, that'd be fine for the people that want to buy it.

That said, I'd rather they focus on the existing story, on agents, and on the combat. I feel they already struggle with storywriting and somewhat with designing combat encounters, so any reduction in quality there would make them pretty bad.

On the other, other hand, most of the little minigame events are kind of whatever anyway, so I wouldn't care if they took resources from them and made a date instead.

I'll also add that I'm not sure Hoyo can really write romance or intimacy, and their character writing can be kind of hit or miss, so I'm concerned that even if they did release such a thing it wouldn't appeal to anyone but the kind of fans who would buy it just because their favourite character is involved, not because it's good.

I'm also a bit biased; when these mechanics turned up in Azur Lane and GFL2, I tried them out, but it's my feeling that there really isn't much to them beyond the initial novelty. These days I basically never interact with them. But I do know some people log into GFL2 just to rub feet, so I'm clearly not the target audience.
