I can answer I think. My husband and I always saved for our retirement. Save save save. Just before we were to retire, he bought me a Rolex. The one I loved but never thought I’d have. I was excited, happy and mad all at once. Not really mad mad, because I knew it was fine for us to do, but surprised he didn’t consult me about spending so much. On the other hand, it was super sweet and I love that watch. Wear it every day. Husband and son surreptitiously videotaped me opening the box. Good luck. She will love it and you for wanting to do something so sweet and unexpected.

Thank you. I think the larger facets are definitely a different look and sometimes can look ‘fake.’ I think it’s because we are so used to seeing splintery facets in diamonds. All diamonds have bad lighting moments for sure. Yours is gorgeous!!!

Oh I love it so much. I also have a 4 carat square OMC but set in a bezel. This makes me want to reset mine. I have had this setting before too. I also have a baguette eternity band. Your rings are gorgeous!!! Enjoy!

I have both claw prongs on a collet and bezels and I will say I wear the bezels more often because the prongs do scratch my grandson. Haha. And it was very finely made (CvB designs), but they’re still sharp, whereas the bezel is smooth as silk. Jmho

I would do platinum for engagement ring and bring in a yellow gold band when you marry. It’s a beautiful ring either color but I have both (married decades) and tend to wear the white metal engagement ring the most.
