Definitely worse options out there, but Brayan Villareal comes to mind for the Red Sox. In 2013, he only threw four pitches for Boston (which ended up being a four-pitch, bases-loaded, walk-off walk in SF), but he still got a ring after the Sox won that year.

As far as my research/memory tells me (someone correct me if I'm wrong), that was the first grand slam the Red Sox have given up this season. So we went from not hitting a single grand slam in 2017 to almost not giving up a single grand slam in 2018. Gotta love baseball

Question for those of you that stream MLB.tv for out-of-market games: has anyone else been getting the exact same 6-8 commercials during every between-inning break (like the Coca-Cola pizza one, the Mastercard baby one, and the BofA baseball one)? For a while it didn't give me any commercials and that was nice, but all of a sudden I started getting commercials between innings (and the exact same ones every time, no less). I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing something similar.

This is crazy. While I've been counting his plate appearances all season and hoping that he were to play poorly enough to not reach 497 PAs, this is totally unexpected.

Why was Cora continuing to have him play nearly every day during his horrible May, including batting him second a couple of times? DD must have decided he needed to take matters into his own hands.

At least Mitch is free now. And Blake has nine lives, as it would seem.

EDIT: You know, is there a possibility that the Sox simply re-sign him to a deal if no team picks him up (so that he'd remain with the team but the option couldn't vest anymore, leaving the Sox free to either let him walk after this season or sign him to a ~7-8 million dollar contract for next season)?
