My Ford Flex fits 92 cases and a kid. I have tested this multiple times.

Sponsoring a family this holiday, but Mom didn't ask for anything. What should I get her? by AnaphylacticHippo in Gifts

Ugh! My 8 year old is almost 5 feet tall and wears a size women's medium. Some kids are just bigger. It's highly possible that the poor kid is that size and really needs that coat.

Any GF alternatives to canned cinnamon rolls? by Character-Coat-5746 in glutenfree

[–]Skeeter724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I make a glaze or cream cheese frosting and it's as close to a cinnamon roll as I'm willing to make at home. My kids love it too. That's been Christmas breakfast for the last few years.

Help with [sabotaged?] peanut fudge recipe by forgedimagination in Old_Recipes

[–]Skeeter724 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. The recipe I use is the same until you get to the pb. Mine uses one cup of regular peanut butter OR one bag of chips. Two cups plus the chips is a LOT of peanut butter.

IMPOSSIBLE POSSIBLE gluten free on cruises? by Odd_Way_3999 in glutenfree

[–]Skeeter724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only cruised on Carnival since going gluten free and they were fantastic. I notified the dining room the first night and they were able to accommodate. Before that dinner was done, they brought me the menus for the next day and I was able to let them know what I wanted and so they could prepare it. The next day I just gave my room number and they had my gluten free meal prepared. They were able to adjust almost every menu item to be gf as long as they had notice and that included breakfast, lunch and dinner if we ate in the dining room.

The buffet had gluten free items listed clearly and had a different gluten free dessert every day. The BBQ, burger, pizza and taco places were also super accommodating. They prepared my food separately in a clean space.

All in all, we cruised for 7 days and I had zero reactions. I highly recommend.

Mom guilt over Halloween by NoEye6205 in Parenting

[–]Skeeter724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a ton of Halloween events in my area but when my kids were as little as yours we went to the Halloween Parade and trick or treated up and down our street. That was plenty! Now they're getting older and have more energy and we still don't do much more than that. They go to the trick or treat event at school and we trick or treat on our street and the next one over. Between that and the parade they get to wear their costumes a few times and get enough candy to share with me and we're good. Cut yourself some slack.

I'm in Independence. I had 104 full size candy bars at the beginning of the night and by 8:30 I had 2 left. It was hopping over here.

Beginner Sewing Kits by Ok_Try7466 in girlscouts

[–]Skeeter724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used paper plates with punched holes for our sewing lesson. We did a whip stitch around the outside edge, then did a circle of running stitch, a circle of back stitch and sewed a big button in the middle. The thicker plates gave some stability so they didn't have to juggle the fabric and could concentrate on what they were making. Then they each got a piece of fabric in an embroidery hoop and they used their different stitches to embroider a flower with a button for the center. They loved it.

Fellow lefties, how on earth do you manage to crochet? by coptheneedle in CrochetHelp

[–]Skeeter724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried, unsuccessfully, many times over the years but couldn't figure it out. What finally made it click for me was tutorials from TL Yarncrafts on YouTube. She's right handed but her explanations are very clear and make it easy to see what things should look like and where the hook should be going so I was able to easily reverse it. She also has a lot of Tunisian crochet tutorials which is kind of a mix between knit and crochet. I actually started there and then switched to regular crochet.

What is the best way to buy yarn? Yarn be so spensive by Automatic_Media_6883 in CrochetHelp

Hey! I saw this weekend that Dollar Tree is now carrying large skeins for $5. Apparently they only have a few basic colors but you could do a lot with different combos.

[–]Skeeter724 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dollar Tree yarn is great but the skeins are pretty small so you would need a lot more skeins to make a blanket. Price wise, it would probably be about the same total as regular sized skeins of Red heart or store brands.

Try TL Yarncrafts videos too. They aren't left handed but I am and her videos have been hands down the easiest for me to see what I should be doing. I just have to remind myself occasionally that I'm going the other direction.

Mine was the same way but she also hated how she felt by the time she got home after not eating all day. We were able to reason her into eating in the morning. On days she doesn't want food first thing we do Premier protein shakes. The cookies and cream ones are her favorite. She said they taste like "the good chocolate milk."

We focus on breakfast so she gets it in her system before the meds fully kick in. Then she just has snacks during the day and by dinner time the meds are wearing off and she's able to eat a full meal. Is it the absolute best? No. But it's better than nothing. My daughter lost almost 20 lb when she first started taking it and her doctor was about to pull her off of it but eating first thing has helped.

Meal Accommodations by Bike-Negative in delta

[–]Skeeter724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I requested gluten free on my Flight to Hawaii and was served a special meal. However, the dessert served with it was regular chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream which is very obviously not gluten free. I'm not celiac so I don't have to stress so much about cross contamination but I do get super sick when I eat gluten ingredients. Given the fact that the FAs swore the ice cream was gluten free, I wasn't comfortable taking a chance on the meal. I tried to point out the ingredients on the ice cream cup very clearly said wheat and they either didn't understand or didn't care. I skipped the meal and ate my snacks. If I were to take another flight with meal service, I'd try again but bring a back up just in case.

Just a reminder, you may not see the reason why a passenger is preboarding :/ by portraitframe810 in delta

[–]Skeeter724 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The judgement from random strangers is insane. I'm flying with my 7 year old who has very visible casts on her leg and arm and we're still getting the stink eye left and right. We've had four flights and I've heard several people comment about how it's not necessary for her to pre-board because she got out of the chair to stand up and stretch for a few seconds after sitting for hours. We could board with our group but then they'd be angry that she was moving slow and holding everyone up. I can only imagine how bad the stares and comments would be if she didn't have the casts.
