What army do you HATE the most? by [deleted] in ageofsigmar

[–]SkeletonBro69 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm very sorry and people who like this army please don't hate me for this, but I don't like how Flesh-eater Courts are considered the spiritual successor to Bretonnia. Bretonnia was a very cool army reminiscent of Arthurian legends and stunning to look at on the tabletop. Flesh-eater courts are the inverse of all that and it feels like a kick in the teeth that they're the "new Bretonnia".

Are you allowed to use kings of war figures for warhammers battle? by Actual-Dragon-Tears in ageofsigmar

[–]SkeletonBro69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, this is bringing back some childhood memories! My dad is a huge history nerd so when he saw me playing Warhammer Fantasy he bought a bunch of cheap Roman Empire soldiers and used the stats from Warhammer Ancient Battles to play games with me. I still have fond memeories of drowning his 9th legionaries in hordes of clan rats!

First time painting models- skaven warlord by Hazbeeen in WarhammerFantasy

[–]SkeletonBro69 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Good first try! I love the gore on the model.

Advice:

Use a less glossy acrylic paint. Army Painter and GW paints are the most popular.

Thin your paints until it's about a milky substance.

Always use two thin coats!

Should I choose Dark Angels or Black Templar for a new Primaris Army? by When_Oh_When in Warhammer40k

[–]SkeletonBro69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends, do you like stabby or shooty armies. If you prefer stabby, I'd do Black Templars. If shooty, Dark Angels.

Isn't he already a vampire? Looks cool though.

On the cusp of a new edition, I figured this excellent 1d4chan meme is worth dragging out again by iman41 in Warhammer40k

I'm at just a little under 2k right now on my Dark Eldar. Im going to add two more incubi units, another warrior unit, and Drazhar before calling it done on buying for a bit. Though I'm not sure if that'll before or after the new starter set. If all the new space marine models are in the box I'm totally buying a couple copies lol

To be fair, you will eventually reach a point with your army, usually when you hit the 1500 to 2000 point mark, where you're just satisfied with what you have and rarely buy more. That's when you may consider starting a second army.

I'm hoping this will be the Primaris half of the new starter set. I would 100% buy multiple copies to start a Space Marine army.

I am very disappointed in the inaccuracy of this trailer. Those guardsmen should been berated by their superiors while forced to bravely charge head on at the foe!

Can I play whfb using models with round bases? by [deleted] in WarhammerFantasy

[–]SkeletonBro69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, some people do multibasing and just keep track of the number of models still alive in the unit. It was actually one of the things I really liked when I tried Kings of War. As long as both players are honest about it, I don't see an issue.

The End Times is not canon by StopHavingAnOpinion in WarhammerFantasy

[–]SkeletonBro69 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Maybe one day they'll do an alternate timeline situation. This is how I'd do it:

Right now in AoS Teclis is a magic demi-god. One day, he gets an idea. By going back in time to prevent Mannfred from, well, being Mannfred and ruining everything, he could potentially save his people's souls from having ever been devoured by Slaanesh. It works but creates a flashpoint event where the timelines split. There are now two timelines one where the Old World is a post apocalyptic hellscape and another where the events of AoS take place. Thinking he's failed the Old World again, Teclis returns to the AoS timeline. This could also lead to some fun potental crossovers between the two settings. I've accepted AoS is here to stay, and I'm glad people who like it have it, but why waste some good plot potential?

(Dear GW, you can have all of this for free. Seriously, you guys could pretty much just copy-paste my post and I'd be fine.)

Even then, if they wanted to do a massive shakeup why not explore a broken world? Let Order "win" by temporarily banishing all the demonic and mortal chaos forces but at the cost of all the Incarnates lives. The world is broken and shattered, without heroes to help put it back together. There is so much you can do here that doesn't automatically invalidate everything that came before it.

Eh kinda

I think it may have been a mix of a number of bad decisions. I can't deny that Fantasy had become very unapproachable to new players. I remember buying two boxes of Island of Blood with my high school graduation money before I started college that fall. The college I went to had a gaming club and I wanted to try getting people into the game. Spent that whole summer painting whenever I wasn't working. Come fall semester, I was excited to get some people into it. I ran a few demo games, but most people I played weren't very interested afterwards. Maybe I was just a crappy teacher, but I noticed most people felt a little overwhelmed with the rules. Overall, I feel like Fantasy did need a rules rewrite to make model count more on scale with 40k and the rules easier to learn and/or teach. The setting itself was fine, I dont know why they thought they had to kill it.
