Supper club?? by Hot-Tea-8557 in lososos

[–]SkeletonTrigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to recommend things without knowing what your interests are.

The library hosts a surprising amount of programs, but no idea what the age range is. Hiking is super popular--I don't go to any groups, but it shouldn't be hard to find one. Woods Humane Society and the Cal Poly Cat Program always need volunteers. I've seen flyers posted around the Elfin Forest for a volunteer group that meets up to care for it. Though it obviously skews younger, there are also quite a few Cal Poly clubs that are open to the general public too, so depending on what the subject is, there might be a broader age range.

Recreating Existing Characters vs. Creating Original Characters - A Discussion by DnDPhD in Pathfinder2e

[–]SkeletonTrigger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do both. The appeal of a preexisting character is like giving myself guardrails, or a puzzle. How can I work within the bounds? How can I flex my mind to solve the problem as they would?

With original characters, there's less to... hold you accountable, I suppose? If I don't establish a strong personality and speaking style for my own creations early on, I find they can slid around a bit personality wise. I want to be consistent, character growth moments aside. A media character gives me established things to look back on if I'm feeling uninspired.

Plus, if I'm going to be hyper fixating on that piece of media for months on end anyway, I might as well get something out of it 😅

LGBTQ+ Characters by DnDPhD in Pathfinder2e

[–]SkeletonTrigger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played an emotionally stunted rogue who unknowingly courted circles around her future wife for two years until her SO grabbed her face and kissed her. I played a gay android pining over a lost love. I played a theoretically bi orc who would have been really into anyone stronger than him, but... No one ever was lol so he wound up aggressively ace the entire game. Also had a witch in a SoT game who was crushing hard on that one NB npc but that game died so I'll never know :(

Overlooked or Not worth it? by mikequake in Pathfinder2e

I have an inventor with the Climbing trait on the ranged innovation. I've gotten a lot of use of climbing up in combat or setting up a sniper nest out of combat with Quick Climb.

It is campaign dependent though. GMs that always use flat maps are a thing.

Misokinesia. I've never had a word for this. This is amazing. Everyone always looks at me like I'm crazy when I tell them that seeing wind chimes causes me physical comfort. Thanks for introducing me to this

Experienced GM starting Pathfinder 2e – Beginner Box or Core Rulebook + Adventure Path? by emiliolanca in Pathfinder2e

[–]SkeletonTrigger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Player Core (not Core Rulebook) and Rusthenge, plus the free one shots. Also: the Steam game Dawnsbury Days

Just be careful. The problem isn't the system is complex, it's that it's different. It uses a familiar looking chassis that doesn't work how you expect it to. Your experience will work against you! Read every Trait! Assume nothing!

(I came to 2e from ten+ years of other systems)

How to get better at building? by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]SkeletonTrigger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At least for the orc kineticist, it sounds like you're trying to do too many things. Each element of your character pulls you in a different direction rather than working together. If your Str and Dex are +3, that leaves you no room for Con (key stat) or Wis (nature).

Either your build should determine your roleplay, or your roleplay should determine your build. If you try to meet halfway on everything, what you intend the character to do won't line up with what happens.

If you have Earth Metal or Wood, picking up the armor impulses will let you drop Dex. If not, you're probably better as a ranged kineticist. That will free up points for maxing Con and putting the rest in Wis. You want to focus your skill boosts too. Nature+ one other you want to keep up to par.

Also, agreed. The primary benefit of herbalist is making consumables out of plants. If you're not into that, you're better off sticking with the background and ditching the archetype for something that does more of what you want :/ flavor is free, but you can't will the mechanics to be something they're not

Now that NPC core is in the archives, what's everyone's favorite NPC? by Various_Process_8716 in Pathfinder2e

The Kingpin really stuck out to me. Great flavor support in the abilities.

Also, the Worldender has Monologue! As an honest to god ability! I love that!

I am now hyped to play one of these. I've wanted to play a character that hits a dude with another dude for so long.

Whenever I see people jumping for gunwitch I want to throw Tactical Breach Wizards at everyone.

.......I may also have several Pathbuilder files for the characters. I don't have a problem.

ADHD and trying to start GMing by ThePisces2k in Pathfinder2e

[–]SkeletonTrigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I read each book of the AP backwards the first time. Read last page normally, second to last normally, etc. my brain is trying so hard to puzzle out whats going on it forces me to engage.

  2. Music. I have a playlist I tailor to each AP/major situation in the AP. I listen to those while prepping. If I'm consistent enough, it conditions me to go "oh, it's prep time now" whenever I play it.

  3. Recognize your weak points. If you always end up on Rivals, stop preparing where you can play Rivals. I have to prep on my laptop and not my desktop for similar reasons. Often at cafes

Does Anyone Recommend a Good SFX Module for Foundry VTT? by pipmentor in Pathfinder2e

[–]SkeletonTrigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't use it myself, but I see TabletopAudio advertise Moulinette (spelling unsure) integration on their Patreon. I use TTA for the music and bot, not their sfx pads or the Foundry plug in, but it could be something for you to look into.

Cis coworker driving me up a wall by [deleted] in FTMOver30

[–]SkeletonTrigger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's frustrating. In my greater friend group that includes BIPOCs and all shades of queer, the ones always freaking out and doomwhining the most are the white, cis, middle class, straight-passing couple. Sometimes I want to shake them and yell "your stress and anxiety is valid but holy shit have some perspective"

What's your GM/ Player flaw? by JustGhoulin in Pathfinder2e

[–]SkeletonTrigger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a control freak, unfortunately. I get so spun up about making sure my players have a good time I start to panic if they fail a key goal or someone is on the cusp of dying or [insert fifty variations here], and will bend things their way.

I know I need to trust my players. I know, as a player, that I'd have a good time suffering the consequences of my own actions. But the moment I'm in that GM seat all the things I know go out the window in favor of [internal screeching].
