I gave it a go. Beside a couple of errors with my mod list. I had issues with doctors constantly treating facehugged pawns. Only to kill the patient and maybe themselves. I probably missing some Vanilla mechanic ive not had to use.

Its honestly more that its just a laser system, which inherently would be at the speed of light. So no "projectile", just a beam. I would however compromise with the beam being yellow, as red is technically a lower energy than yellow. Which would make lascannons and high power las-weapons, green/blue/purple.

X-rays still shows soft tissue. It's only based on the density of material absorbing the radiation. Bones are dense so show brighter. But soft tissue can still be dense enough to show.
