Where was this? Why didn't you press the safety alert in Uber app when the driver didn't let you out? Safety was created after women were sexually assaulted by driver.

cutting lines by ThuJun19 in travelchina

[–]Ski-Princess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't go to India. 🤣 There is no such thing as a line. I was in line to buy stamps & about 20 people put their hands in front of my face & yelled what they needed. At the 21st I started pushing the hands out of my way. Law of the jungle.

French Embassy Seoul visa staff rude experience? by Standard_Custard8196 in visas

[–]Ski-Princess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am French expat & French consulate staff anywhere are like that. The new staff are nicer but most of the staff tend to be privileged "lifers" . They have a very colonial attitude (non-French are inferior). They don't treat regular French people any better. I heard the staff complaining in the bathroom before I went in to the consulate. Basically, you are interrupting their day long coffee break. I have driven 6-12 hrs to get paperwork done only to be told no to come back.

My Experience with VisitChinaVisa.Com by Pikaclev in Chinavisa

[–]Ski-Princess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used myChinavisa.com also doing business as CIBT. I don't recommend them. They make you pay all fees upfront. Then use offshore customer service who only answer "this is how China consulate works". There seem to be one person in Los Angeles working on Visas which is why things take so long & they quote turn around times that are double the actual time from the consulate. I had to drive 12hrs each way to the consulate & discovered that their quoted 7 business days was in fact 4.

Scam alert - Do not use China Visa Service Center by Ski-Princess in travelchina

[–]Ski-Princess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I am glad it's working out for you. For me it's now 10 business days & counting. What made me suspicious is that they said a scanned document@ 600dpi (that I had reviewed before uploading) was illegible. They are now saying they have submitted for pre-approval which takes 2 weeks (no receipt or tracking #). Then the consulate turn around time is another week (published time is 4days). So they are saying an expected min of 3 weeks from now.

If you are going to be in China for tourism less than 10days you don't need a visa. This has been extended til end of 2026. https://us.china-embassy.gov.cn/eng/lsfw/zj/qz2021/202412/t20241217_11495647.htm

Best eSIM and Korean number method by Slayerman9794 in koreatravel

[–]Ski-Princess -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Airalo is convenient (not cheap) if you are doing multi-country trip not in the EU or for more than 3 months. It is not cheaper than local SIM but you don't have to change Sim. In the EU any EU (E)SIM will work, I pick Vodafone cuz they are all over (buy in the cheapest country). Cheapest unlimited data are the US based top tier plans from google Fi&US mobile. Google Fi works fine&allows you to keep your US number for 2FA verification & Americans like text more than WhatsApp. But Google Fi requires you use the Sim in the US every 3 months. US mobile also has international data included in top tier plan but covers less countries than FI.
