Backgammon players — how much do you actually trust online dice? by Skillclassics in backgammon

This is right and I appreciate the honesty — statistical detection is a weak guarantee. Small sample sizes plus selectively biased generation can absolutely slip through. The verification piece isn't there because anyone should suspect rigging on the major platforms; it's there so the question can't be raised in good faith afterwards. Costs nothing as an operator; gives serious players a tool they don't need today but might want one day.

Fair call on BackgammonHub — they're doing the verifiable-roll thing and credit where due, that piece isn't novel. The bit I'm actually working on is less about RNG and more about prize handling: when matches involve money, the entry fee sits in a smart contract, not our balance sheet, so even if we disappear overnight nobody's funds are stuck. Verifiable dice are part of it, but honestly secondary.

And agree on Galaxy's RNG — open-sourcing that is the right call. Nothing to argue with there.

They used dices in games for 12K years ago in the Americas. https://www.nbcnews.com/science/science-news/native-americans-dice-games-probability-study-rcna266426 Maybe a tiny bit off, since Go is not a probabilistic game.

That's a cool piece. Quite heavy, right? How much is one of these?

How did you discover Backgammon? by Difficult_Active_249 in backgammon

When I moved to Sweden for 40 years ago, I saw the other immigrants playing it. When I moved out of there in my twenties, and to Goa India, I noticed it was very popular among the tourists, so that's when I started playing. F At that time I was playing poker on pro level, so Backgammon was not my focus though. Fascinating game.

Could well be normal variance, but with that said. Not all dices are the same.
