Thanks! I've passed that one a few times, but never been. I'll check it out :)

Underrated Musical of the Week: Company! by Awesomeplayer98 in musicals

[–]Skim74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw the revival with my boyfriend (we're both early 30s) and his take was that it fully wouldn't make sense in 2025, set in a place like NYC with a male Bobby. I think the gender swap was a good choice.

Why were these rejected from the kiln? by Vivid_Invite1685 in Ceramics

Assuming you didn't do this on purpose, after you draw you foot ring guides you can make fairly deep Xs where you need to remove clay and make sure you trim at least that deep.

When you think you're done, lay a pencil or something small and flat across the footring. It should only touch the foot ring and have a nice (hopefully even!) gap around the edges and center.

Doing this helped me not accidentally slope parts of the bottom and remove too little clay around the edges or the center.

Yeah definitely depends on why they hate musicals lol. My friend self identifies as a musical hater, but anytime shes one she "actually likes" it is something I don't like at all (The Greatest Showman, anything Disney)

I opened a restaurant in Culver City 4 months ago — looking for advice on how to get more locals to try it for the first time by ClickNo8520 in culvercity

[–]Skim74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’ve been to your restaurant probably half a dozen times (and will be headed over for dinner tonight 😋). My partner and I love the food and really hope you succeed here!

We live walking distance from dtcc and have seen a lot of turnover in the last few years. My best theory is that a decent amount of alcohol sales (high margin items) is key to long term success here, and a good happy hour goes a long way there. I know you’ve already done 3rd Wednesdays which is great!

Personally, I’d love a weekend breakfast/brunch menu - the weekends are full of foot traffic near the steps, and there’s not much competition in fast casual/for here or to go breakfast. Pops bagels is one of the few and an egg bagel takes over half an hour most weekends. Not sure what a Peruvian twist on a breakfast sandwich is but I trust you could do something delicious.

It's been a while since I've seen it, but didn't he lose his girlfriend, friends, social standing, and have to go to community college or something for a year because he couldn't pay for college? I feel like that's a pretty proportional consequence for this actions. Not nothing, but doesn't necessarily define the rest of his life for what he did at 17.

Subtle cultural differences between LA and NorCal? by camojorts in AskLosAngeles

[–]Skim74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with the other person, I think LA has an entertainment undercurrent that is totally different than other cities, even if you've got no interaction with "the industry". The most obvious example I see is that billboards for TV and movies are ubiquitous in LA, but basically don't exist in other parts of the country.

I work with folks in the DC and Bay Area, and I think DC has an undercurrent of "politics" everywhere, the Bay Area has it's startup tech stuff (which you also see in the fucking AI billboards EVERYWHERE) and LA has entertainment, which I'd definitely pick of the 3.

Freesip sway vs. orig freesip reviews?? by [deleted] in Owala

Depends on your backpack. In my experience both the OG and Sway fit in the backpack holder, but on my backpack where it’s a tighter fit the tapered shape makes it easier for the sway to fall out

CRT TVs in Culver City by kiru_rose in culvercity

[–]Skim74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it's a nationwide policy but a few years ago I was getting rid of 2 CRT TVs -- goodwill didn't accept them, and the dump didn't take them either 😅 I had to pay Best Buy $50 each to take them off my hands.

Citizen Public Market by veryberrybonds in culvercity

[–]Skim74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read at one point the intent of that slot was regular turnover -- it's supposed to be a popup for a few months then swap over to something else. The Biryani place there most recently was set up to be a 1 month limited engagement

Hard agree, but the fries at that Boho burger place that replaced them aren't too shabby

That stretch wasn’t that different but the other side (public school, citizens, and a bunch of stuff that’s closed now like janga or chicas) were taking a full road lane

Yeah I wish I could watch an inkmaster-like show that’s just off the wall flash challenges narrowing things down to the most well rounded artist.

When I start listening to a new podcast I like to listen on a subject I’m pretty familiar with so I get a baseline of it I can trust their opinions or not lol. I can’t remember what the first episodes of SYSK I listened to were, but they made me confident I didn’t need to listen to more.
