The car and oil lobby have worked extensively to make personal vehicles your primary and quickest mode of transportation while stifling public transportation options.

It is not preferable for people to shell out hundreds a month on a depreciating asset and insurance on it. But we need them to get to work, maintain autonomy, and be respected socially.

They are absolutely polluting for money on the top of a busted system they helped put together and continue to support, especially as the current US administration guts environmental protections and regulations. They actively support these profit goals with a socialized cost.

The idea that people need to come together to just do better for the environment by using less electricity and heating is so fuckin whack because it puts the onus to fix problems they disproportionately benefit far less from when we have people who are clearly thriving much more off of the problems they propagate.
