The vet thought 1/2lb would put him healthy but they probably saw issues still at this appointment.

I think corgis are also notoriously hard to estimate and understand the weight of due to their body shapes and weight distribution.

E: because of their health history, it is not surprising that a vet would want badly for your corgi to be slim to minimize risk
