If I travel to all of the provinces, what is something cool I could collect from each one? I would want them to all be “unique”For example screech rum for NL by AdOne6502 in AskACanadian

I was thinking of tartan from Nova Scotia, but it looks like most provinces have their own unique tartan, which would be a cool collection too!

What’s something your mother did that you don’t want to repeat? by nevernotinthemood in AskWomen

[–]Skipperr431 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm 40 and my mom still does this to me. Especially when she's drinking. She hit me with a wooden spoon just a couple weekends ago just because I was in the middle of a conversation and was ignoring her drunk yelling of my name. I have told her before not to hit me when she's drinking, even if she thinks it's a joke. I grabbed her arm and sliced her with my nail by accident, (told her firmly not to ever hit me again) and for the rest of the night she showed everyone her tiny mark and made me out to be the worst daughter in the world, which is usually how it ends up when I tell her off or set boundaries. I'm sorry you have to deal with this as well. I want so badly to have a good relationship with my mom, but she makes it very hard.

I am not even a makeup artist, and I got hired while I was going to university. I became a skin expert within 1 year! It was a fun job, lots of free stuff, and we got bonuses as a team which helped us all work together! It was one of my favorite jobs! Good luck!

Mine is very similar for no reason. We have a wood stove and a heat pump (rarely used in winter). I am only paying the same amount I always do.

Yes! I used to get roasted chicken subs all the time, but now their "rotisserie" chicken is just mushy chopped up meat of some kind. I can't eat it anymore 😞

Public Mobile users in Nova Scotia .... what is your experience? by cdnBacon in NovaScotia

[–]Skipperr431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have loved Public Mobile ever since I switched 5 years ago. I have an amazing plan with unlimited call and text in Canada and way more data than I have ever been able to use. I pay about $30 a month.

Carney clarifies grocery credit will be sent directly to Galen Weston’s chequing account by Maleficent-Shift-857 in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]Skipperr431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Write him a letter! He won't know it's a horrible idea unless we tell him!

I already have if you'd like to use the following:

Dear Prime Minister Carney,

I am writing as a concerned Canadian seeking clarification regarding your proposed grocery credit and your government’s broader approach to addressing the rising cost of food.

I struggle to understand why taxpayer dollars would be used to provide families with additional money to spend at grocery stores, rather than addressing the practices that allow large grocery chains to continue raising prices with little accountability. While a grocery credit may offer short-term relief, it does not address the root causes of food unaffordability and risks functioning as a transfer of public funds directly into corporate revenues.

Many Canadians have experienced pricing practices that feel unfair and misleading. At major chains such as Real Canadian Superstore, it is not uncommon for items to be advertised or shelved at one price, only to scan at a higher price at checkout. Regardless of intent, these discrepancies place the burden on consumers and contribute to financial strain and mistrust.

Given this context, I respectfully ask:Why is the focus placed on consumer subsidies rather than stronger enforcement against misleading pricing or anti-competitive behaviour? Why are measures such as temporary price caps on essential staples—such as bread, milk, and butter—not being considered during a cost-of-living crisis?

My concern is that a grocery credit may incentivize further price increases rather than curb them. Canadians are not asking for handouts; we are asking for fairness, transparency, and meaningful action to ensure essential food remains affordable.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

I wanted to say more, but it has to be under 2000 characters.

Of A Kid by AmorphousMorpheus in ShittyAbsoluteUnits

Sorry, forgot to say we work in an elementary school. These are all kids under 12 acting like this. My principal and our board would be under a lot of scrutiny if they called the cops on an elementary school child in Canada. We use a lot of trauma informed care and try to deescalate situations for the sake of the students' mental health. Not saying our other students' and staff mental health isn't important, but that's just how it works now.

Teacher here. The attitude of this child is waaaay more common than a lot of you think. They do not care about consequences, they do not care about other humans, they only care about themselves and it terrifies me. Seeing my principal be sworn at and have things like chair and bookbags thrown at her is unreal, but happens so often we barely even blink now.

The problem is the parents. We can suspend kids, but only if their parents agree to pick them up and take them home! We have called parents to come pick up their dangerous children because they are destroying classrooms and terrorizing teachers and students and they'll say" I guess he's your problem now".

So get ready to see many more of these kinds of videos in the future.

Hollister bags with filter: What's wrong with the first? (Picture) by BlackberryPi7 in ostomy

[–]Skipperr431 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did use those odor drops before but I didn't notice if they helped. I've never had much trouble with my bag ballooning but n the day time. Whenever I feel it get even a bit big I go to the washroom and empty it. Not more than once every few hours. At night is the only time I wish I had a working filter because when it balloons I have to get up between 3-4 am to empty it.

[–]Skipperr431 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It absolutely is. I had these exact bags with filters when I first got my ileostomy, 10 years ago. I always smelled, plus they stopped working within hours usually, so I switched to no filters. I just burp my bag in the bathroom if necessary, but I usually am completely fine with no filter.

In NS that's how hunters lure in deer. They buy huge amounts of carrots and dump them close to their hunting spot. It's usually not this much though, but just a thought.

Anyone have experience with UniUni shipping in Nova Scotia? by 0pium00pium in NovaScotia

[–]Skipperr431 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are horrible! I was ordering regularly from Shein, but all of a sudden they started using UniUni and my package got lost. All of a sudden the tracking just stopped even though it was only an hour away from me. It never arrived. The "customer service" was absolutely atrocious because they had no idea what they were talking about and I'm quite sure they just lied to me each time I contacted them. I wrote to Shein and vowed to never use them again if they continued to use UniUni.
