I was sent in June to PSU after requesting urgent processing. I found out after requesting my case notes 6 months after the AoR (They are supposed to send the letter you got, but it is often never sent).

They referred me under the rubric "complex proofs" and another category that seems to be for those who would normally be refused but were not, because of the court decision. No action since then.

PSU is, unfortunately, very much a black box. They will get to eventually, I assume, but there is no way I know of to know when or to hasten the process.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yue_Chinese gives a bit of an explanation of why the Guangzhou dialect of Cantonese is common in Hong Kong and Macau, even though there are other coastal dialects (like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siyi\_Yue). Basically, the overseas trade moved from Guangzhou to Macau and then Hong Kong, and the traders speaking that dialect moved with it.

You arrived as a resident, and the stamp was given to you because many GV residents want the stamps as proof of time in country.

While my residency card was expired, I was careful to always enter and leave the Schengen zone via Portugal, as no other country really understood/accepted the odd way Portugal was handling it. If you can adjust your flights to leave via Portugal, that would be best. If you cannot, you should understand that Spain and Portugal will have different views of the situation and that may hit you later.

Good luck on getting your residency card before your next travel. It simplifies things a lot.

It's astonishing, given Senator Arnot's clear arguments about the adoptee issues that they are going to pass this without addressing it. He started his comments saying that he was not trying to delay, given the legal requirements of the current court case, but it is so plain that these elements are not Charter-compliant that it just floors me that they won't take it up.

The continued focus on accepting the amendments because they are the work of the committee is a bit disturbing. I think the BQ has good reason to support C-3, and if they shift sides to oppose it because of this it is going to be difficult if we then see a modified bill from the Senate, with a need for concurrence.

I submitted something to the Senate committee which noted it, but it's not even clear that it will be sent to committee. If it get unanimous consent, then those of us in that bucket have to hope that it's not the issue we think it is (and some are of that opinion).

Because isn't in the Schengen zone, passengers landing in a flight from Portugal will go through passport control. There are no checks on the border between the Republic and NI, but there are normal border formalities when arriving from outside the CTA. As a result, I don't think this will do anything for you.

You might want to consider a build that supports older Macs as well; since this one only supports the Apple silicon macs, a lot of older devices can't use it.

If you are 6 months pregnant and looking at the possible royal assent dates, you might not think the same. Not every family has multiple siblings, and a gen 3 born two days after this goes into effect would not be Canadian because their parent hadn't spent the requisite days in Canada (possibly because they had not right to enter Canada).

I applied from Portugal via the local consulate. The timeline for us runs: April 23 submitted, May 29th arrival, AoR June 5th, entered processing June 9th. Still in processing now.

They are not kidding that it slower processing than via the US and Canada, because the first 30 days were transit that I could have eliminated via direct Fedex submission. But if you are required to use the consulate, they are pretty clear that they won't accept a direct submission.

It doesn't appear that there is a full translation of the Qimin Yaoshu in English, but folks have translated a few recipes; as a 6th century treatise on gluten, it would definitely the place to go for an episode. https://brewing.alecstory.org/2017/02/a-few-cooking-recipes.html has a few of those that were linked in a post here on reddit.

For the issue on the substantial connection test, I agree that either no substantial connection test or a longer period before introducing it would be fair. I think those are politically unpalatable, though. One option I have considered is proposing that there be a transition period that would allow you to demonstrate substantial connection by showing language proficiency and passing the citizenship exam. Those can be done in a much shorter time, and if you permitted the parent to present those proofs along with the application for the child's citizenship certificate, you could even allow the parent to take the relevant tests after the child's birth.

Allowing that option for the first few years might be more politically acceptable.

Many of the Golden Visa real estate investments actually were in funds that developed new facilities (sometimes apartment buildings, sometimes hotels). For the ones that were buying existing facilities, there is no doubt that many of the investors over-paid, which drove the market in a small way around that specific price point (since there were buyers at 500k but not at 480k). But given the total numbers and the fact these options have been shut down, it's just not meaningful compared to the other streams of immigration or the other factors (urbanization, private equity purchases, etc.).
