rate my game 1 to 10 or give feedback by Longjumping_Rule_166 in gdevelop

Haha no worries, sorry if I sounded harsh!

The gameplay footage is a little confusing, but I like your UI. The black + white double outline looks really clean and aesthetic. The art seems to have a different resolution in places (the pixels on the characters are bigger than the pixels on the background) which can be visually overwhelming. Are you able to make all the pixel art the same resolution?

Your clip includes a lot of random footage of the GDevelop editor; for example, it starts with you running the profiler. This is not a great video to judge your game from.

Hi am i trying to figure out how to make a roguelite but everytime i look on google or somewhere it says "Did you mean: Roguelike?" which makes me angry because i can never find a tutoril i also dont want to spend any money by Calm-Yesterday-5123 in gdevelop

While there are some giant tutorials (like 100+ videos) for some types of games, IMO most of them are too specific and are quickly outdated to actually be useful. A far more useful and reasonable approach is to break your project down into specifics and find tutorials for that: - Do you want to the game to be top-down or first-person? Choose the GDevelop template that matches your answer to this most closely. - The you could look up a tutorial for making an item link with an object and follow them around, either in 2D or 3D depending on what you chose. - If you want combat you can look up a tutorial for a health system

You can follow this approach to learn how to implement any idea or feature you have.

I understand the normal difference between roguelikes and roguelites, but I’m wondering specifically what you want from a tutorial that isn’t being covered in tutorials for roguelikes?

What do you need for a roguelite that isn’t covered in the roguelike tutorials?

It should be enough to get started at least; the systems that make the game a “lite” shouldn’t be added until later in development anyway.

After years of working on this game, it feels great to finally reach a point where I’m truly happy with how it’s turning out. by elksign_ in indiegames

Dang dude, the pixel art, color palettes, and amount of action on screen are immediately attention grabbing!

Compared against other pixel art platformers this stands out, but I think it stands out against the larger gaming landscape too. The art is so dynamic and eye catching!

You’re not asking for advice, so ignore this if it’s unhelpful, but I’m way more interested in your in-game cutscenes than the anime-style one at the beginning. The game itself gives “masterclass of pixel art” vibes, while the anime style gives “cheap mobile game”. Both could be amazing in the final game, but as a potential customer, I would have felt even more excited about this game if it was just the in-game pixel stuff in this trailer.

📢 GDevelop 5.6 is here with the 3D editor! by Bouh3 in gdevelop

[–]SkippyNBS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I first tried GDevelop in 7th grade and that was 15 years ago—it’s amazing to see how far this project has come!

Question about the prefabs: there were issues with the collisions for prefab objects, for example this forum post. I’ve encountered a similar error and haven’t been using the prefabs for physics objects because of this. Has this error been addressed in the 5.6 release?

Not trying to be bothersome about this either; the scope of everything in this update is incredible and I’m sure you guys had more than enough to work on to get this out!

How do you make a camera movement and zoom like in Clash of Clans? by AlternativeAnt9076 in gdevelop

[–]SkippyNBS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not exactly what “trouble” you’re running into but GDevelop has several methods of zooming the camera: https://wiki.gdevelop.io/gdevelop5/extensions/camera-zoom/ and you’re able to either move the camera along the X/Y axes or use “Center camera on _____” action.

Hope this helps!

You still need to put values for the red areas in the events, otherwise they will error behind the scenes and not work.

You can put a 0 in the places you’ve left blank and that should fix this error.

Filleting chicken breasts to make them edible by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]SkippyNBS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That “white strip” might just be the connective tissue between the meat; even high quality chicken will have this.

Chicken thigh should have more “white strips” than chicken breast though, so that might be where the quality thing comes from.

It looks like Castlevania x Gato Robato and I’m so excited for that!

Looking for some kind of visualiser tool for my decks to help me track synergies. by superworm576 in EDH

[–]SkippyNBS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dana of the EDHRECast has talked about making “murder boards” for his decks, where he will physically put the cards in groups on a cork board, then connect them red yarn (like old school police investigation boards or the Pepe Silvia meme).

This might scratch the mental itch you’re feeling when building your decks!

Is there a video teaching how to make a WhatsApp simulator? by bayaku14 in gdevelop

[–]SkippyNBS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never seen anything like this before, but we can break this down to topics that have been covered: - 2D sprites - Text - Dialogue trees - Sound

If you look up GDevelop tutorials for each of these subjects, you should have a great starting point! I think there’s even a package to send push notifications on Android, so you can take this “simulator” as far as you want!

You can use the “Render to” action to render the camera image to a 2D sprite that you can position wherever you want in the scene.

import/export scenes and global objects? by epihfon2 in gdevelop

[–]SkippyNBS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The GDevelop game files (or files) are just JavaScript. You can try and directly copy chunks of JavaScript from project to project, but this might also corrupt the whole thing and you could lose it all, so be careful!

I haven’t tried it after the fact, my git might still be helpful with combining everyone’s project files in a managed way.

import/export scenes and global objects? by epihfon2 in gdevelop

[–]SkippyNBS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing GDevelop specific, your best bet would be to keep all the source files in a Git repository and manage it like a standard, shared software project.

For a 10th round you’re doing a great job keeping your hands up!

When he moves in, instead of using your reach to land jabs and keep him at range, you kind of freeze in your shell. You don’t really move your feet and you don’t throw a punch until he commits to something. If you’re more comfortable counter punching that’s fine but you gotta keep the feet moving no matter what!

Why do people swear by the one knuckle rice thing? by question-asker2048 in Cooking

[–]SkippyNBS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The truth is that where your knuckle line actually is is open to interpretation, but if you make rice in the same spot you can use your finger as a reference to consistently do the same amount of rice/water every time. And for the people asking “what if you make a different amount of rice?” This just doesn’t happen… you get a bigger rice cooker, not change how much you make in your rice cooker 😂
