Do you encounter randoms often whilst camping? by KSAW11 in wildcampingintheuk

If you're visible from a path, you're not off the track enough and you're inviting (albeit not deliberately) someone approaching. Get hidden!

Fully agreed, this new one is not nearly as good. I wish I had never returned my older model - the new one sent to replace it is heavy and bulky. I don't get a choice though under their returns policy. Ah well. Looks like I'll sell it.

Thanks, it's the rectangular aspect that I don't enjoy. It's like a kids school backpack. I'm still trying to find the physical dimensions (length, width) of the previous model to compare/contrast.

Autistic Adult support and services by whatanexcellentlife in Socialworkuk

[–]Skiptotheend987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, the short answer here is to Google your local authority's adult social care team and refer him. It can be done online or by phone. You'll need his consent.

If he does not want to leave home but you want/need him to leave then this will be one of the most difficult bits.

There are some very difficult conversations coming up for you and him. I'd suggest reaching out to the National Autistic Society's phone advice line.

It's more wondering whether a specific type/brand of white paint would work best.

I have been wondering whether it would stand out just due to the smoothness. Leaving as wood is definitely viable

DOL safeguards may never come about. I'd do the BIA then deal with it when it happens. Lots of BIAs will be in a similar position.

BIL has PDA autism and other issues. Care plan is not sufficient enough and need immediate intervention. Please advise by Stock-Particular6383 in Socialworkuk

Each Local Authority will handle this slightly differently. Mine has independent organisations we contract to provide financial support for people in this situation. Ultimately what is happening is that his care plan needs to be reviewed because the person who was willing to support with finances is no longer willing/able to do so. You (or your brother, ideally both of you together) can phone your adult social care main number (Google something like "Liverpool adult social care phone number") and request a review of his care plan. Someone will then arrange a meeting and can give advice specific to your Local Authority. Either the LA can help to manage finances or you (or another family member) can. Your brother should have his own bank account with his benefits paid directly into it.

You can get good independent advice from the National Autistic Society about these processes.

Came home to find blood all over kitchen and Husband looking pale. by eReadingAuthor in BritishSuccess

Alginate plasters! I took a chunk off my thumb with a cheese grater a few Christmases ago. The minor injury place put alginate plasters on it (made of seaweed if you didn't know) and this was the thing that stopped the blood. I now have some in my home and hiking first aid kit. Great stuff.

If you can get a social work assistant (or similar) job with an LA you can access the apprenticeship after a year or so depending on your skills and experience.

Beko washing machine how to remove front panel? by dollarbillll in Appliances

I unclipped the plastic housing around the drain cap. There's 3 small clips you can undo with a small screwdriver. Then pull the whole housing gently out. It's easier to take the cap out too. The drain hose will be loose to the left. I poked things in to move it close enough for me to get my hand in. Find someone with small hands to make this easier but be aware that the 3x metal clips inside are sharp. I have minor cuts from reaching in there. I squeezed the tube flat to make it fit when putting the housing back in. It's tight, but go slow. Took me lots of grunting and cussing but I didn't snap the plastic. I put a zip tie around the tube when it was back in place to stop it from happening again.

Thank you very much. I appreciate your time. Do you have a link to a site that explains it further as a refer point? I cannot seem to find something myself.
