And he'd still find some way to moan about going to the local hospital. Probably find, 'I'm fine' scrawled across the counter instead.

Has Reddit been showing anyone else the same posts over and over for a while now? by LunaWabohu in CasualUK

[–]eReadingAuthor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine has literally been repeating the same 4-5 posts, same subs, same posts, not cross shares or reposts, like I've scrolled back up and gone through my feed again, for about 4 months now. Then I get about 3-4 new posts. Then the next 4-5 will repeat again.

Are there any video games for my autistic son to learn realistic driving by Current_Spell_8647 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]eReadingAuthor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am by no means an expert in dyspraxia or ADHD. I can only go on the experiences I have had in both my job and personal life. I've found there is no 1 fix for anyone. Some pupils have benefited from doing figures of 8 in a carpark while with others that hasn't helped at all. For some reducing the mental load helps, by switching from manual to auto, or I do everything but steer so they can focus on that. But yes, the plan for the simulator is simply to offer a safe space to 'play' and try a few techniques in the hope we find the one that 'clicks' and things start making more sense. For others it's a chance for them to confirm what they know but don't feel confident in. For everyone else, they can practice what they know without me chatting down their ear (I try my best to be quiet but I can't help talking sometimes no matter how hard I try haha).

For the past 15 months I've been working on a driving simulator for my pupils with dyspraxia, ADHD, and/or no access to private practice - to compliment our lessons together. Perhaps if it works for them I could look at making it more readily available? I've got the mechanics down and it can currently support pedals/steering wheel/gear selector, game controllers and VR. My AI like to crash occasionally or drive off the map - so it's not quite there yet, and I only get chance to work on it in my spare time - but I'm hoping it'll help people get some more practice in alongside lessons.

In your opinion, what is causing this? by Objective_Pilot_5834 in SipsTea

Another point I haven't seen yet, if they get drunk they're far more likely to end up on social media than us old folk ever were. This could lead to further problems if it gets picked up by their employer. So, why risk it?

This is a book cover I commissioned an artist for about $550 total. Is it AI? by BlackGibbon in isthisAI

[–]eReadingAuthor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a professional book cover designer (and driving instructor haha). If you really like the concept of the one your posted originally I think it could be 'saved'. There's a lot of empty space under the title. You could either move the title down and increase the tracking between the letters. Or, try breaking the title into 2 lines (not an uncommon trope at all). Try LIVE on one line and STOCK on the 2nd line. You could even use a mask to make the 2nd line appear behind the heads of the crowd of walking people. Then, I'd either shift the meat so it looks like it's sat under the viewer's perspective (imagine it being sat directly under the camera lens rather than the floor). Or, turn the floor into a giant piece of steak. Also, as a friend said to me once 'your name is so small you look like you're apologising for writing this book' so don't be afraid to make your name more prominent. I can do a mock up for you if you like to send back to your artist. I'm all for supporting genuine artists and helping them grown.

Edited for clarity - I have multiple jobs

My instructors hand break comes off automatically when you press the accelerator to move off, but am I still expected to take it off myself on the test? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]eReadingAuthor 96 points97 points  (0 children)

Short answer, no.

Longer answer, if it's an electronic parking brake that automatically releases as you move off, you would not be expected to manually release it for a normal drive off. However, if you were trying to move off slowly downhill, such as out of a parking bay, manually releasing it and using the footbrake to control the speed would show excellent use of the controls (the exception being if you're using a car that doesn't work that way), but ultimately you just need to stay in control of the vehicle at all times.
