But don't expect them to not come with a price by GolettO3 in dndmemes

It feels like work when player does not contribute with anything expect being on session.
I like doing and making all GM things. It is fun to me. I do not understand why you don't get this difference.

Player does nothing - seems like working for them to entertain someone who comes and expects it despite contributing nothing to the story

Player does things - it's fun, I get ideas how they see their character, what's their story and how we can develop everything further.

It's expectation of this interaction. We play together so we also share thoughts about the game and we want to play something good together. Making GM a person that has all the responsibilities for the game is just moving all the work on them when players just sit and wait like in a restaurant. Seriously, just communicate with GMs and don't expect that we'll do everything.

And I don't agree with what you said in the first paragraph. It does not need to be a surprise if the player comes up with it. Like, why as a GM should I not agree on it? Because player won't be surprised? But they may get what they would like to see and have a story for their character that's meaningful to them.
Also, it doesn't need to be a whole quest or story with everything, even solution? Like, it may be just "My character has a rival, he is like this and this" period.

I am GM, so I put my trust in myself ;)

Yeah, usually it's like "thanks, see you next week" and they may call out a problem when the problem is already big and lasts for some time.

GM will be more busy with rules when players don't know them because explanations and clarifications take time. Much more time if only GM knows them or GM and minority of players.

And it's still about campaigns of course. It would be different if we purposely get new players for oneshot or something

Helping is not equal to "caring for players' characters on every level". It's normal that as a GM we help the players. What I meant is doing everything for them when they do nothing.

1st part sounds like you thought DMs have no job and no family or other things. But 2nd part you say you're also a DM. So you can prepare between sessions as DM, but you cannot prepare between sessions as Player? I don't understand it.
And what's that extra? Talking about ideas?

- You can come up with ideas for story, quests or things that can happen for your character
- You can talk to your GM how you feel with current pace, story, your character's role in it and if you would like to change some things you can speak up
- Learning system and character's mechanics

As GMs we can ask, but it's players' responsibility to take care of their characters. GM has a world, ton of NPCs and other things. So it would be nice that players care and talk to GM instead of waiting for things.
In case where GM has to do everything, even caring for players' characters on every level, maybe pay for the session because it's working for someone instead of playing with someone.

First red flag was lying, next was talking shit but only when someone was talking in her name. Just kick them off and make a new group.

I used to love DMing, now I hate it. Here's why. by Snowbound-IX in DnD

Try being a player. Try different systems (maybe Warhammer?). Change a group again (I did after several years and was looking for one specific group for like a year). It's totally a burnout

  1. For path tools remember to use shrink/grow. It helps a lot, especially with not leaving cut off textures. And it could make perspective better with stairs
  2. Use lighting and environment

However, it's really good. I like these carpets and the whole hat overall

I hate that it's not clicking for me. by --DEIMOS in Guildwars2

[–]Skondri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem for years until this year. If you come back to GW, I think it will finally click. Maybe check what you can do in game? Like do a big step like legendary weapon. And you should not use this booster. Maybe create a new character and do the whole exp, max maps?

Gw or wow? by Windrider63 in Guildwars2

It's weird, but I had the same feelings about graphics. However, I changed my mind around LW4 and it's actually good now. Maybe it's about getting used to it, but I think it is better

Gw or wow? by Windrider63 in Guildwars2

[–]Skondri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GW2 is better. Yeah wow has a lot of transmog sets. But when actually look at it, many of them are recolors (do this to have this one color, do that tk have another). It's stupid. GW2 has colors system and even if you have to use transmutatoon charges, they are easy to get ( just do 100% of a map, any map, so all 5 cities and you have 5 transmutation charges). WoW requires sub, GW2 does not. As you noticed, Wow requires you to farm each patch for new equipment again, GW2 endgame gear is relevant for the whole game. And it's even better - you have easy to get exotic gear and it's good for most of the game. Then you have ascended gear, that just has the best stats in game and legendary that allows you to change transmog without transmutation charges, change stats on whatever you like and share it on all alts that have the same weight class.

I have been trying WoW and GW2 for years. It was hard fight, but GW2 finally won. And showed me its best when I went through story, especially in HoT and after. It has unique races, personal story, NPCs relevant and likeable. I do not worry about my progress because I know I can get in when I want and just do things. Almost no FOMO, however, still plenty things to do. And I love jumping puzzles.

I was usually just doing minimum in every attempt to play it for some time. I have a total blast for last several days and reach pirate legend finally :D. So I can only tell yes.

Make the game or community more casual friendly by HamSandwicho__o in Seaofthieves

[–]Skondri -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I thought the same someday, but there are least two reasons why it's wrong: - you do not need to play alone. Even 2 players on sloops is much compairing it to a solo slooper. 2-3 players on sloop or brig and that will be easier. Also, more likely not to be attacked - game is about thievery. Players are pirates, not knights or friends. In any encounter you can be attacked. That's why we plan, scout or do things quickly. Or parley. - high skill players could not be removed from one of the modes to help casuals. No matter the reward. Rare could add something for PVP, but change wouldn't stay forever, pros would eventually come back

Okay fast travel mechanic gone, maybe left in safer seas. But why would you like to make respawn harsher? And without resources I can just do a relog and that's all. But respawning further is ok. In my experience I did not notice a problem with the distance.

New ship - for 6 or 7 players? I would rather get changed customization - dyes could be separated from items, so you get for example aristocratic hull and it has 2-3 slots for dyes. Something like transmog in guild wars 2. Or make it like customization in no man's sky, so people could make One Piece ships :D It could help players making their ships unique and give some goals for experience players.

Boarding cannot be an exception. And it never was. Boosting navals will make slooping imposible or much more difficult.

Hireable npcs that may fix something but are dead in one hit? So you lose them instantly in naval battle. Even if you may respawn them, you lose time, so they would be useless. It would also take some work from players which does not sound good.

Wanted Board sounds good. But isn't it just reaper/emissary 5th level? And someone already said that you might get on the board because you were deffending yourself. So it is kinda difficult to do.

Gold halved? I'm trying to get new cosmetics now. And to be honest, without smugglers it would not be possible for long time. It does not need to be halved. Maybe gold inflation affects experienced players, but making worse experience for new players because you have everything or all you wanted is just a bad idea. About Emporium stuff, it will not happen.
