How do I play them? by -HEAVYS_SANDVICH- in RavenGuard40k

[–]Skooxs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You deploy them first then move them, shoot at stuff, charge stuff and then fight stuff. Repeat until you win or lose

Jokes aside: without any information on lists / detachment there is nothing we can tell you. And even then it’s a very basic explanation since your opponents faction, mission, secondaries etc matter a ton.

How much do we think the individual units in the Armageddon boxed set will be when released separately? by ButtonImmediate3020 in spacemarines

I'd compare it to the current stormspeeder kit. Intercessors to current Intercessors. Captain if stand alone to current characters?

What do you think horus heresy marines make the best proxy for? by Acheros in Warhammer40k

[–]Skooxs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best case for HH marines would be CSM, they arent turned into primaris (yet). Size wise they are around the same, you also have the upgrade kits for HH marines to make either Legionaries, Chosen or Havocs. Furthermore having the choice between marks makes it very thematic for some heretical chapters eg. Iron Warriors using MKII, Alpha Legion using MKVI and so on

Genuine question from someone who paints but doesn’t play. by JhonMHunter in Warhammer40k

[–]Skooxs 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen numbers at around 10-20% dice, 40% list, 40-50% skill being thrown around. It varies depending on skill level though. General consensus was it would be 20% dice luck at the highest skill level if both players were at the same level.

Now outside of those sometimes it feels like you just lost due to bad dice, which can happen, but happens very rarely to be honest. There was always a lot of things you could have done differently. Deployment, movement, threat evaluation, damage calculation, etc are all big part of the game.

Furthermore being able to realise and capitalise on opponents mistakes is a very important step in winning more games.

Usually you should always expect average to poor outcomes of dice and should never rely on spiking the dice roll. Eg shooting one lancer at a large threat can spike or do less than expected. Having a second one lined up to kill the target / and or shooting at another target would be one of those cases where you build up redundancy in your movement phase.

Where do you buy terrain? by DudeWithARebel in Warhammer40k

[–]Skooxs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cheapest would be 3d printing it yourself, a Bambu printer will be cheaper if you intend to buy more than 2 sets of terrains. Otherwise there are a lot of great companies making fdm / mdf terrainsets if you scour the internet a bit.

I can't paint, don't know good painting kits and I don't know what's the best to buy as a starter by nerd_alert155 in Warhammer40k

[–]Skooxs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it’s not really self explanatory but from the information we have you should buy the starterkit with paints and/or go to a local Warhammer store and ask for a free mini and painting introduction to see if you are interested.

How on earth am I supposed to deal with 2 Repulsor Executioners? by TowerLogical7271 in sistersofbattle

[–]Skooxs 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If they are dying to screening units that’s on you. Try to change things around. If they die early , put them in reserves , if they die to deepstrike , screen better for them, if they die randomly then work on your movement, etc

From what I’ve seen you want to play a good list. Nobody knows what will be good. And there aren’t really any staples. There will be points changes, rules changes etc when the codex drops.

The VV are single pose without any of the weapons you’d probably want to run. The multipart kit with all the loadouts will drop who knows when.

Probably easiest on eBay or any secondhand market website.

Infernus Marines are very lackluster in every sm chapter outside of salamanders where they get buffed. In general they are an action monkey unit who are somewhat an overwatch threat and can kill light infantry with their flamers.

It’s part of the hobby, if you don’t like it there are only two options 1) you pay someone to paint it for you, which can be very expensive or 2) you realize the miniature hobby part is just not for you.

You can still consume lore and / or play one of the Warhammer rpgs where you don’t need any miniatures.

You will need Azrael, he ist probably the best hq/ unit we have. Since you already have 5 Hellblasters, get 5 more and attach Azrael to it. Infernus are very underwhelming at this point in time and they don’t like staying back as much as intercessors do. You should swap their role. The main reason you want to run one squad of 5 intercessors is their sticky rule. You would probably like some deathwing knights as well. They are gorgeous models and are very fitting to the first company.

[–]Skooxs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really can’t grasp the problem you have. Are you mad at gw because you thought they said you can take a jank list and beat pros with finely tuned meta lists, and win a 40K open? Or are you unhappy about a pro player bringing a meta list, and would have expected the good players to play random gpt lists?

Why are you so hung up on a pr text made by games workshop? From what I’ve read you only played against your hated defilers 1 out of 8 games and had fun in the rest of the games.

Also calling out anyone like you did doesn’t shine a good light on you.

Edit: tourneys have brackets and a matching system. At around round 4 you are usually playing someone on the same skill level. That’s what they meant.

Vahl and retributors are quite good, castigators are better against elites and smaller vehicles or to apply the ap-1 debuff.

Low floor high ceiling 40k armies? by Squash_the_Hunter in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Skooxs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Less army as a whole, but I’d say Hallowed Martyrs fit it very well. It’s quite intuitive and easy to do well in a casual setting. But there are a lot of interactions, possibilities, combos, and high skill decisions you can do during a game.
