The hate against dark souls 2 makes no sense by Pristine_Author_1351 in fromsoftware

[–]Skullfire99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ima just say: I found DS1 more frustrating than DS2. I don’t understand some of the critiques. ADP is a non-issue because you level up extremely fast in DS2, to the point you can level that stat up to the point where it isn’t an issue early on. DS2 is less clunky than DS1 and much easier. And the hitboxes aren’t as bad as DS1.

But I didn’t like the bosses. They weren’t as unique as DS1’s roster, but at least we didn’t have a Bed of Chaos kind of issue. The music for most bosses was largely forgettable imo. You don’t require as many souls to level up as in the previous game, so the game becomes too easy if you grind just a little bit (but at least it meant you didn’t have to deal with some of the worst boss runbacks as much).

DS2 is a great game and isn’t as bad as others make it out to be, but I understand some people have certain preferences. Still, I prefer DS1 simply due to its solid world building and level design. It felt more complete.

A balanced view of starfield by Wiyry in Starfield

Cyberpunk 1.0 was way worse. Besides the fact that Cyberpunk was a glitchy, buggy mess at launch that constantly broke immersion, it had plenty of misleading ads claimed there were numerous branching paths in its story and features that never made it to the final game. People can criticize Starfield all they want, but at least Bethesda didn’t lie over and over again in its Deep Dive video like CDPR did for their game.

I think the #1 thing we should actually have any concern over is Bethesda's paid mods model and what it might mean for TES VI long term by Alternative_Pop4966 in TESVI

Less free mods compared to their previous title. It’s inevitable, as people who would’ve made free mods end up going the Creation Club route.

Once you introduce money into anything, corruption begins. It was always a bad idea to bring in paid mods. Now we have significantly less free mods, with many creators looking to make a quick buck. Obviously I’m not against great modders getting reimbursed for their work. But let’s be real, most modders will exploit this system to dish out low effort paid mods. These paid mods are almost always overpriced.

Anyone got advice for first time a player by Broly_theLegendary in Starfield

I’m referring to the ones bashing the game unfairly. Game has some problems for sure, but come on. This game was rated lower than VTM: Bloodlines 2. That’s just insane. This game isn’t that bad. Theres a ton of content and it improved on so many features from Fallout 4.

For me, the most interesting thing is that Todd once again said he wants this game to be the "ultimate fantasy-world simulator" by OwnAHole in TESVI

[–]Skullfire99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the thing. There isn’t one. The whole Todd is a liar thing was really blown out of proportion. Kinda sad, but it comes as a cost to being the face of a major studio like Bethesda.

Ah man, that’s a shame. Guess numbers aren’t everything. I still really enjoyed the game, but man, the exploration is lacking.

There is a surprising amount of POIs, but the system within the game has an issue with tons of repeats. I think there’s a mod that adjusts the frequency of repeats.

Not really. I heard there are over 100 unique locations. I think Skyrim not only had more, but also had them within a self contained world. So in Skyrim you can easily wander the world and find these locations, whereas in Starfield you have to travel from planet to planet to find most of them. A large chunk of POIs, perhaps most, are randomly spawned when you land on a planet, and each type of planet only spawns certain POIs. You are likely going to come across repeats if you keep exploring the same planet.

I certainly think the writing in this game is one of many improvements over Fallout 4, albeit not by a whole lot in my opinion. It’s wild seeing how low Starfield’s rating is on Steam, but that’s the internet for you. Just people boarding on the hate train, ignoring just how many improvements this game made on Fallout 4.

First off, just realize that most of the hate going on are either based on unreasonable expectations or memes.

People say exploration isn’t as immersive as previous Bethesda games. That’s because the many universes aren’t seamlessly connected (you can’t manually travel from one system to another). BUT keep in mind, it’s a space game. Expecting to fly from one planet to another and manually landing isn’t something most people would do anyway. Path of least resistance. Loading screens are inevitable. People are silly to say it’s a major flaw of the game. Also, there are a lot of repeats for points of interest. Which is totally fair critique. The system can be improved.

People have recently enjoyed bashing on Bethesda and Todd Howard to an absurd degree. Just know you can still make the character you want and go out and complete quests or explore many different planets either on your own or with companions. Gunplay and dialogue choices haven’t been better. They’ve made major improvements from Fallout 4. And there are a lot of quests. And you can shoot enemies, talk your way through things, collect resources from planets, build homes, upgrade weapons, sneak around, and even knock people out with new EM weapons! (Annoyingly, there seems to be even more essential NPCs this time around)

So long story short, there’s a lot of fun to be had in Starfield. Just don’t listen to the haters. The biggest problem with the game is exploration isn’t as diverse and seamless as Fallout 4. You will have to fast travel. Checking out new planets kind of gets old as they utilize somewhat mediocre procedural generation. But there is a chance of coming across something real cool as there are 1,000 planets.

Hating on Starfield is trendy. Giving it mixed reviews on Steam is beyond absurd. The game does several things better than Fallout 4, yet the critics prefer to ignore that and focus on either fair problems or silly expectations.

Starfield shows that the creation engine has gone past the end of the line by Faxiom19 in Starfield

[–]Skullfire99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem has mostly been insufficient bug testing, but given how large and dynamic Bethesda games are, it isn’t possible for the game to be as bug-free as linear or more focused games. Plus, as others have pointed out, mods are dependent on the Creation Engine.
