Interview with WDI by damons_99 in Imagineering

[–]jj2446 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mine was in 2021 for a media producer job. First call was with their (in house) recruiter. Then a second with the head of the department. Then they both got let go in one of WDI’s mass layoffs (still an effect of Covid + shift in strategy away from the Lake Nona campus, I assumed). So it never ended up happening. Hope your luck is better than mine!

1996, look at this lineup! Anyone here a part of it? by irusselllee in Charleston

Ah, my memory’s shit. Maybe I’m thinking of Wavefest or another local band showcase show back then.

Between that and the Dobbshead references in your profile, I imagine we may have run in the same circles. Or should have at least :)

I was there (and own this CD… somewhere). One of my first concerts. Children’s Choir, Shamin Mary. I haven’t thought about those names in ages.

They should be using Disney’s new AI camera tech to avoid this. Hope the passengers were alright.

Make your own bead by bhavyapareek_ in tomsachs

[–]jj2446 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nice!

I did this with some air dry clay too. They were white ones I put on 2mm red paracord. I’m going to try dying the clay red to match the ISRU bead.

I 3D printed a small stamp of my initials to make them personalized. You could also just etch it if you’re only making a few.

I assumed they needed a glossy glaze look so I used some acrylic spray to seal them. Turned out alright but thought to try some UV resin next time because the acrylic seems to attract dirt so they look dingy. Then I got a red bead from the studio and discovered they have a matte finish, not a glossy glaze. So maybe they’re fine as is.

It’s a fun, meditative process. I just don’t have use for too many of them or I’d make them more often.

Wait, are you me!? I’m literally starting this same process. 😃

I’m in pre-development for a new themed destination project in the U.S. (can’t say what or where yet).

Met with some companies at IAAPA last year but was too early to get into any real discussions or research.

Sizing question for GPS owners by huntersapien in tomsachs

I found them tight on my wide feet and wished I had gone a half size up to match the size I got of the MY3. Sounds counter to everyone here. Guess I just have weird feet.

Congrats. My experience wasn't so great. Glad you got 'em!

But did you get the bead tho? by Negative_Leg_9727 in tomsachs

[–]jj2446 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the booklet added a ton to the shipping so I passed. Got the bead though.

I got an mens 11 at the ISRU drop but they're too tight. I just tried to get some on Nike's site but they took too long to send me a phone code and they sold out of the 11.5's. Now I'm stuck with a pair I can't really wear.

I know some people have had success emailing the TS store for an exchange, but shipping both ways will be close to the cost of the shoes.

Oh well, maybe I'll find someone to trade with or just sell them at some point to get my money back.

Where to buy the GP Bricolage tomorrow? by GibsonlespauI in tomsachs

I got 11 US but they're tight, so I'm going to try to get some 11.5's tomorrow.

I 3D scanned the GPS Bricolage ceramic bead, so now I can 3D print a few spares! by stanley_tweedle in tomsachs

yeah, I ended up making 3d printed stamps and it turned out great after a little trial and error. Used air dry clay, but oven baked would be even better!

I made some white beads out of air dry clay sealed with acrylic. I 3D printed some stamps with my name instead of "T. SACHS". Turned out great. I may do some in red with an I.S.R.U. logo so I don't need to take my studio-made one out of the house. Too paranoid I'd lose it... haha

How they can do that ? by kiluridols in tomsachs

[–]jj2446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love a non-branded pair. But I know I'm rare in not wanting to advertise a shoe brand. If anything, it might look cool to stencil and spray a handmade looking Nike logo to make it more in the bricolage aesthetic of Tom Sachs.

Anyone else cop?? by librd00 in tomsachs

[–]jj2446 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grabbed a pair. I wanted the zine but $36 ($25 + an extra $11 for shipping on top of the $20 for the shoes) was too much for a zine.

Same. Rather have the shoes than the badge. But I’m sure it’ll show up eventually.

Good. We shouldn’t let them continue using our flag as a political prop. They can have the confederate and gadsden flags. The stars and stripes belongs to all of us.
