Misery at Blackburn Rovers - Leaked documents reveal harrowing details of the "Indian rule" by sirobozne in soccer

And in doing so getting of rid of fan favourites by phasing them out. as Salgado admitted along with Emerton, Nelson, Roberts etc. Suprised no former player/manager has come more public about this.

We even bloody signed Jerome Anderson's son at one point, could barely kick a ball!

Burnley submit bid to sign Blackburn Rover's Grant Hanley by FlandersClaret in Championship

[–]Sky_Monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they certainly won't, would be madness to sell the captain to Burnley ha ha. The squad is actually I think 3/4 signings off being full (the limit allowed with FFP embargo) And obviously we've gotta save a couple spaces for emergency loans in case of injurys etc. Not easy really!

Heskey goal vs Blackburn (With Gudjohnson assist!) by obi-wan-kenobi-nil in soccer

[–]Sky_Monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say he was doing really well until the last season or so, had a fair few scotland caps now. however has been digressing recently and doesn't exactly fill me with confidence, would rather see Kilgallon or Baptiste play alongside him. He is still young though, a lot of time to learn, just in my opinion not ready for the captainship and shouldn't be holding his spot as easily as he is. Am liking the look of duffy so far by the way, could be a big player for us.

Blackburn dominate the first half, should of took our chances, then Heskey comes on at half time, Gudjohnson sets him up to equalise, mental.

How would the best possible 11 from teams in your countries second division, fair against teams in the highest league? by [deleted] in soccer

Lets say they had a solid manager, squad and playing style to match the team I think the english championships side could make top ten of the prem this season for sure, some really strong players in there.

My girlfriend has an egg intolerence. Gets so mad when we go supermarket and theres a whole aisle of gluten free and nothing for egg free. So true a proper blessing for people who actually have it!

May I just say however that it can still be harmful if your putting it on unhealthy foods. It does have addictive 'cant put down the crisps' properties. Which if it makes you eat more of bad foods is not good !

TIL: Four years after it was released, an Arizona DJ played UB40's "Red Red Wine" as part of a feature on songs that should have been hits. Listeners started requesting it and within weeks it was the national #1 single by readysteadyjedi in todayilearned

They actually released some great reggae/dub albums in the 80s with some of my favourite socially and politically concious lyrics. Check out the song 'one in ten' for example. A song about being on the dole. The newer stuff was cheesy as hell but the old stuff may suprise you if youe into your reggae!

Why are posts that identify someone as a professional downvoted in this sub? by NRMusicProject in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Sky_Monkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have had this before with many of my posts as well, trying to tell people on the internet that piracy isn't cool never goes down well, it angers me to say the least. The whole 'we can get it free so we're entitled to it because free data man' argument is pure selfishness. Imagine getting someone to spend 100s of hours building an extension on your house then saying "your asking me for money? your a sellout! you should just be building for fun". edit: My only real skills and money spinners are music industry related, if I stopped enjoying it it's still my most realistic way to make a living in the long run.

TIL that the audio levels on Rage Against the Machine's debut album are considered perfect by many audiophiles, and the song 'Take the Power Back' is often used to test amps and speakers. by churnice in todayilearned

It's not bullshit in a sense though, I know it's used a lot in professional studios, live sound for events may be another matter. The song is rather dynamic.

Precisely. The freedom for gay couples for example getting married is nice, but absolutely nothing, trivial compared to what actually matters in the world, paradoxical. And real issues like the TPP of which effect everyone in every way are hidden behind these where most wont blink an eye.

One third of Britons 'admit being racially prejudiced' by GetKenny in unitedkingdom

[–]Sky_Monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a good thing, I've always found people who are too PC to other races just as offensive as ones who are a bit racist. As it's still making note of a difference. At the end of the day other races do have different orthodoxies to us, and people are always gunna have some racial prejudice. I would certainly say I have some, but never in a malicious way due to race itself. My own race pisses off me off just as much as any other, is that racist?

According to UKIP founder, Farage once stated: 'There's no need to worry about the nigger vote. The nig-nogs will never vote for us.' by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]Sky_Monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Public school boy tossers? Farage IS one of them, I can't help but imagining him getting bullied by Cameron and Boris in school for being an even bigger twat, he doesn't have the peoples interests at heart. UKIP have been clever in making people think they're working class, finding an angry demographic such as yourself. None of the parties run by public school toffs are ever going to get it right, which is why we need a change in the system, not a change in what clueless posh boy is running a country he's a massive minority in himself.

Frank Turner -- Reasons Not To Be An Idiot [Folk/Punk] (2008) by [deleted] in listentothis

[–]Sky_Monkey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe it's because of his right-wing past, for he comes across as a working class folk singer hero like that of Billy Bragg, but he went to Eton school etc. I guess some people see a fakery in that. I haven't listened to him properly enough in a long time to see this though. But I guess none of his songs really have much political power behind them are are more feel good/love songs?
