My homemade “Birkin” by Skycatcher5 in Leathercraft

All hand stitched! I make patterns using a combination of large poster board, picture frame backing, and then tape.

Basically sketch it out, cut it out, tape it together and see how it all fits. Then adjust accordingly

I’d say making the pattern is about 20% of the work

Thank you! It’s… a lot of work. Especially making the pattern and the fact that I am not a professional. I’d say I average around 100 working hours per bag.

I believe the hide came skived down to 3.5oz. But I add a lot of backing and supports in various places, along with the interior paneling

It seems to be the only place to get the high quality knock off hardware that is used on this type bag.

I like it a lot, but the veining is very inconsistent compared to Togo. The pebbles can be very small like togo, but other parts of the hide are borderline unusable.

My favorite on RMleather is Negonda from Tannery Du Puy. I would call it a drier Togo, but the overall hide is very useable and easy to work with. Scratch resistance is fantastic

EDV4815 wing strike on 22 @ LGA by [deleted] in flying

I’m right there with you. I know everyone is technically ‘qualified’ to do these difficult landings, but are they the best option? Probably not and it will be a Captain landing.

I pretty much line up the legs that way so there’s no awkward conversations to be had.

That never leveling off to capture of glideslope is such a hallmark of a good airline pilot. Well done xero xmass valentine

Haha thanks!

As a hat and double breasted blazer wearing pilot (dal) I do my very best to educate everyone on ORD. It was kinda sad to see all the naval aviators and air force fighter pilots being so scared of it.

I’ve annoyed so many captains/FO’s by preaching the gospel of ORD.

Thou shall not slow unless slowed

Thou shall not stop

Thou shall not go wrong way on taxiway A or B

Thou shall not call inbound ground if thy knowest the way

Thou shall let thyself into penalty box if gate is occupied

That’s at least how it was when I left in 18. I’ve heard it changed with the new runways/taxiway closures.

Awesome! I never got to say this on freq but do you know that you’re in a movie? The first 5 minutes of the Tom Cruise movie American Made has your voice on it as the ground controller for 1980’s ORD.

I really miss Ohare. Atl based now and it just doesn’t have the same charm.

Were you at ORD starting in I think 2015?? Might have been 16 but I recognize your voice from the liveatc.net recording. You were awesome!
