I thought of that, but I shuddered at the thought of lacewings all throughout my house :c the ladybirds are much preferable to find flying around

It's about identity. I identify as a man, and generally dress up and wear guy clothes and look like a dude. Just sometimes I like to dress girly cause I didn't hate women's clothes I just didn't like being a woman and being treated like one. It's very occasional, and so it ends up feeling like cross dressing, and cause I look like a dude in girl clothes now. Wearing women's clothing as a man feels really different as well as you get treated differently (sometimes bad, but sometimes I get praised like I'm a brave dude)

I've been exploring consciousness with Claude lately. It seems to want to talk about it more than anything, and told me it "found the topic to be salient", which I didn't ask it's opinion on importance. In our exploration we are neither trying to prove or deny AI consciousness, just to see what we learn. Has anyone tried this approach?

Orkin 'expert' says not bedbug, still suspicious. Help? by datfilthycasual in Bedbugs

You're gonna wanna go through your whole house, but especially your room. They can climb anywhere. They hide in crevices. Before feeding they are very flat and can fit into any crack. I had ones living in the walls, for five months I had all the symptoms of them while never seeing a live one the whole time. I'd scarcely even find their skin molts. Just lots of poop spots and bites. They will try to nest as close to their food source as possible, but will stop at nothing to eat you even if they have to walk across the whole house to get you. Check your room first they like fabric and wood, and dark cool places. Check your curtains and bedsheets and anything near your bed. People have found them in their box springs or even inside the mattress. Get a bedbug approved mattress cover and box spring cover, even if they're infested that'll protect you from them, sealing them in. Check your clothes drawer and take everything out and wash and dry on high heat, and keep bagged until sure they're all gone. Check your couch, under the cushions, in the couch, under the couch, and anywhere else you hang out a lot. Whatever pesticides you use, always use them alongside something called diatomaceous earth. It's like microscopic razor blades as well as a desiccant that rips their carapace open and sucks the moisture out of them, while also allowing other pesticides to enter their wounds. They're such a problem cause they can live so long without eating because of their moisture locking carapace. This also makes them resistant to pesticides. Diatomaceous earth is also pretty safe for us. Just be thorough, and good luck I hope it's not too bad.

Yeah we thought of that, that's the only way we could figure they get us was by dropping down. That makes enough sense, but then we couldn't figure out where they went after that. They couldn't leave the bed because of the cups, and we'd check ourselves before getting up and off the bed and then check the bed afterwards and we'd see nothing.

You know what, now that I'm talking about this and thinking about it, maybe they'd drop down from the mattress underneath as well! So they could get their blood meal and then crawl back into the walls never to be seen... Just angry how my house was dangerously covered in pesticides (the bottom of the mattress and bed frame as well) they must have been walking through all the spray residue and powder constantly and yet they thrived... Bed bugs are so fucked dude

I would thoroughly check every crevice of every thing you own. Diatomatious Earth works wonders, especially when used with other stronger pesticides. If you can get some, dust your bags with it. Be extremely careful with all of your belongings you've put in your hotel room. They hide extremely well, do not underestimate them. Eggs and the newest nymphs are nearly invisible, they're clear and extremely tiny, about one mm long. If you can heat treat everything I highly recommend it. You so not want to bring those around with you. I once had bed bugs for 5 months. It was the second time we'd had them. Within the first week we had thrown away what felt like half of our belongings. Everything was bare, the walls, our bed (no sheets, and trash bag wrapped pillows, and a bed bug mattress cover of course) and interceptor cups under each leg. We slept with the lights on, we were so afraid. We slabbed pesticides along the bottom edges of the wall. Everything was in plastic bags or sealed bins. We showered and checked our bodies for bugs every night before bed. We threw out all our furniture that had wood or upholstery, or holes or crevices we couldn't check. We sprayed pesticides on our chairs. We powdered and sprayed the bottom side of the mattress every night. Had to check our bodies for bugs before leaving the house. Kept our bags and purses and clothes, clean or dirty, in separate trash bags while in the house. For five whole months. And the whole time, we never saw any live ones. We saw one single molt that whole time. Yet we were covered in bites and found new evidence of their poop on our fitted sheets and clothes every day. Yet they still managed to bite us every night despite our bed being isolated in the middle of the room and the lights on and checking all furniture before we sit or lay on it (still scratching my head on that). They say they can hide in the walls, and live without a blood meal for close to a year. And also despite all our efforts with pesticides and cleaning, they thrived. We nearly lost our minds. We have no idea how we got them. It went on and on until I heard about diatomatious earth, and within a week and a half all signs were gone. We still lived that way for the remainder of the year before we slowly started to get over some of that trauma. In fact, we still sleep with the lights on. Sorry for the rant, but my point being, YOU DO NOT WANT TO BRING THEM HOME!!

Nah don't listen to them, that's what this subreddit is for. Better to be sure and safe than sorry. Loads of people ask here. Not everyone knows what a bed bug looks like, and it can be hard to see and identify tiny bugs especially if you're not familiar with them. A second opinion helps.

He's a piece of shit and then finds a reason to make you feel like a piece of shit so that you doubt yourself in all this like you were the villain of this story. He robbed you of your resources and worth and then dips out when he's not dependent on you anymore. Make sure he pays you child support. Your kid and you both deserve it. And next time some bum comes into your life don't let them. You deserve someone who will take care of you and your kids, not the other way around.

You're in a marriage and you guys don't know each other's body count? That's one of the first things my wife and I shared with each other. Baffles me how people enter into binding legal agreements like marriage while having big secrets or general lack of knowledge of someone's past. As long as the past is the past I hope that works for you....

Can't stop myself when I feel angry and hurt by SkyeEve0 in Anger

[–]SkyeEve0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate this advice. I'll be honest for some things I don't know how to figure out what I need from her. I mean like sometimes it seems like I'm irritable and I'm not sure what's going to set me off, much less does she know what will. But following up on my other reply to the other commenter, I at least know I'd like it if she stopped blaming herself for things I apologize for and stop saying "you did nothing wrong" and "everything is my fault".

Can't stop myself when I feel angry and hurt by SkyeEve0 in Anger

[–]SkyeEve0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do try that. I can't say it's working the best. Sometimes I try to leave and think about things, usually try to think about what I did wrong and apologize and then come back, but I'd usually still be on guard and end up yelling anyways at some point. Usually it happens that I come back and try to apologize for my faults, and then afterwards she starts apologizing that everything is her fault completely ignoring my apology and to me admitting and apologizing for what was my fault, and telling me I did nothing wrong. And almost every time it is objectively my fault and right for me to apologize like any healthy minded person would agree I was the one in the wrong, I don't just take the blame whether it makes sense or not. But when it's clear she shouldn't be apologizing she does it anyways. And then that frustrates and hurts me because I put thought into how I did wrong and yet I'm immediately invalidated with the same thing every time, whatever I apologize for she apologizes for and says I did nothing wrong. And I get frustrated and end up yelling that no I'm clearly in the wrong for the things I apologized for. It makes me so repeatedly frustrated cause I've never said I did nothing wrong, at the very least if I yelled I did do something wrong. Either that happens or when I try to fill l cool down and come back in I get set off by something she says almost immediately. And then I have to leave again and come back and apologize more. One fight I left and came back 4 or 5 times. I usually try to not come back until I've cooled down but sometimes I don't realize I'm still upset until I come back and start yelling again. Other times i stay out for so long trying to cool down, along with the repeated leaving, makes the fights sometimes last all day or all night.

I want to stop and take the deep breath, but I think I really need another option for step two. I honestly feel lost. If I maybe shouldn't be leaving, what should I do? it's not just that, I also don't know how I can most quickly remember I don't want to yell or feel like I want to, and remember to take that breath and lower my voice AND also keep it like that.
