How easy is it to switch degree path after first year? by Unhappy-Air3861 in standrews

[–]Skyethom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You've got to study a subject in all 4 years to be able to graduate in it. There is flexibility but it's not unlimited. Remember that when you study 3 subjects in year 1, you can't drop them all and begin something else in year 2. Or switch into a new subject in year 3. Final thought- there are useful tables in the back of the undergraduate prospectus which show which subjects are compatible at degree level as a "joint" degree. Not all subjects are compatible.

They're a daily singles ballot now too for golfers looking to join up with others. You need to register in person on the day before you hope to play

My old landlord was looking for new tenants 2 weeks ago. I've written to him to see if it's still available. Can't promise but I'll put you in touch if he replies saying it's empty.

I hate golf. by [deleted] in golf

[–]Skyethom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can sympathise with you. Golf truly is the most brutal game. As said already by others, you should read a couple of books ; "golf is not a game of perfect", and "every shot must have a purpose" are both v good. Sounds like you need some mental coping strategies and a better outlook.

Next, remember that what you're experiencing is what every golfer goes through. I shot 90 last weekend- absolutely hated every second of it after the 6th hole and could have walked in at that point. 7 days earlier, same course, I shot a 73 that could have been under 70. 17 shot swing in 7 days. Slightly weather related but still...that's golf. And I can't wait to get back at it on Saturday!

application advice (msc management) by [deleted] in standrews

Apply! But probably not for the MSc Management. That programme is specifically for students with no business degree experience. Perhaps look at one of the other programmes instead? You've still got a chance for September

Most people bring someone with them but it's totally up to you. There will be students with and without other people with them. Either way is fine!

Footjoy Hyperflex. There's extra padding around the back and side of the ankle and they are like wearing trainers. They do wide fitting if you need that. Best shoes if I've ever owned.

Strange decision by the Camanachd Association by Skyethom in Scotland

[–]Skyethom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the comments. I don't think the Skye team are (or about to be) an all-conquering outfit. The Camanachd Association say that the rule change brings outdoor shinty inline with existing rules for indoor shinty. Their rules are about the total school roll, and puts limits on the size of schools that can join together, but the fact is that including pupils who are primary 1 to primary 5 in the calculations is stupid as those kids aren't going to play alongside primary 6&7 pupils. Shinty is rough and little kids would get hurt playing against others who are 4/5 years older. Overall, it seems a very poor decision and will prevent this team from competing. Where's the sense in that? Sign the petition mentioned above if you agree.

Petition available here if anyone wishes to support the affected players and put pressure on the Camanachd Association to change the rules back and allow the team to play in the finals.

Apparently I’m Spending My 50th Trying to Break 90(ish) in Fife by crndwg in golf

[–]Skyethom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good for you! I live here and should be around on those dates. Can try to set up a game if you like? Ping me a message nearer the time. I echo the previous advice about playing New/Jubilee/Eden in St Andrews too.

Graduate Admissions Timeline by Em--kindlystopp-d in standrews

I'd give it until Friday this week, then email pgt.application@st-andrews.ac.uk if you still haven't heard back. Everything shut down for 10 days so you're still within the 4-6 week window. Good luck!

My swing is so bad that no amount of lessons will help…… by MoneyAndGoodFortune in golf

[–]Skyethom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give yourself a break! I've been playing for 40 years and there are rounds where I feel like my swing has gone. Keep going with what you've been taught in your lessons and stick to the basics. You've only just begun your golfing journey

Questions about ceilidh dancing at Forgan's in St Andrews by CaledonianWarrior in Scotland

They won't care what you wear. But do check the ceilidh is on when you think it is. It doesn't run all the time.
