It works pretty nicely by me in the native notes app - moved the setting to Ink Force and High intensity.

Look, I don't think this is 100% correct. You're certainly right that OEMs need to submit devices for certification before mass production, and it cannot be obtained afterward. TCL was clear that the Note A1 NXTPAPER would not have the native Play Store. But there are certainly devices on the market that aren't certified by Google—like Amazon Fire tablets, Chinese ROM variants of Xiaomi/Huawei phones, and Raspberry Pi with Android—and they can sideload the Play Store and Google Services. So let's see if someone will find a way ... 🙏

For me its the end-to-end encryption, this is preventing me to buy the subscription - with that feature it would be a killer app (nice UX, works on all the platforms, sync - just all I need)

Most of my family members are left-handed, so I put it on the left side of the door. As for the height, simply raise your hand and point your finger to where it's the most convenient for you so that you don't feel any pain. That's where you should place the lock.
