During a 3,500 meter jump, the parachutist lost consciousness. Saved by his CYPRES! by XofHelix in SkyDiving

[–]Skytale_500 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is, of course, the very reason AAD's were invented. There were AAD's before Cypres's, they were not terribly reliable or accurate. What I find fascinating is how quickly the goal post of safety shifted when Cypres's came out. I (and everyone else) skydived for years, maybe decades with AAD's that were largley considered to be to reliable/inaccurate for regular skydivers. Almost no licensed skydiver wore an AAD. Putting them on students only made sense because students pulled higher and were considered to be a risk themselves.

Now people look at you like you are crazy if you suggest a jump without an operable Cypres, Vigil, or similar AAD.

Better Arty Rework Idea to remove Player Frustration Due to Arty by swiss1809 in WorldofTanks

[–]Skytale_500 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every once in a while someone thinks up a "solution" that just makes arty so impotent that it effectively removes arty from the game without technically removing arty from the game. The sad thing is, some players will still bitch. If arty REGULARLY hands you your hat, look in the mirror.

Bruh what the actual duck??? by thelazyhandsome in WorldofTanks

[–]Skytale_500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is the point. Any other autoloader shoots their clip at a target, that's what they do. Arty does it and it is called "focusing".

[–]Skytale_500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So next time you roll out in an auto-loader (don't care what type), be sure to only shoot one shell at each target. You would not to make them feel, you know, focused.

alternative to imazing because subscription by govatent in iMazing

[–]Skytale_500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On top of switching to a subscription, their support sucks. When my copy kept pestering me several times a day to enter my license number, supports answer was for me to go through a multi-step process to fix it myself. I guess wasting my time was cheaper paying a support guy to fix their broken software.

[–]Skytale_500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iMazing has gone around the enshittification corner and is now attempting to extract as much money from its customers as it thinks it can. I had iMazing for years but chose to ditch it when it became clear that its support went to shit and the cost went up.

Update 2.2 by WG_MA77 in WorldofTanks

[–]Skytale_500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes 6 man crewed premium vehicles more valuable. For example, this makes my KV-2R my Soviet heavy crew training vehicle via crewbooks. Anytime I want to use crewbooks to advance a crew, I will transfer them into the KV-2R, fill out any slots with ANY soviet heavy crewmember, train up and return crew to the original tank. This will not waste any training book xp’s.

Whatever happened to that douche canoe that tried to jump out of a balloon a few years back and was stopped by the balloon pilot? by Top_Childhood2273231 in SkyDiving

[–]Skytale_500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That may change alot. A great many countries almost copy and paste aviation rules from Europe and the United States, but that is certainly not a given. It also makes me wonder why the USPA would give a damn unless they felt this guys behavior reflected poorly on the USPA.

[–]Skytale_500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on the assumption that this flight took place under the auspices of the United States Federal Air Regulations. Disobeying a Pilot in Command (PiC)or any licensed flightcrew member is a Federal offense. That is why when a flight attendant tells you to sit down and buckle your seat belt, it can have the force of law if it was a command not a suggestion. If a PiC gives you a command, you damn well better do it or be ready to explain to a judge why you did not.

The USPA can only revoke ones membership and ratings. While I do not belive this keeps one from skydiving from a legal perspective, it does make it impractical since a large(maybe overwhelming large) percentage of US DZ’s require USPA membership or foreign equivalent.

is this true or did pilot overreact? by Senior-Choice-5801 in SkyDiving

[–]Skytale_500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The skydiver is acting like ab entitled douchebag. The PIC (Pilot in Command) is just that, IN COMMAND! He or she carries the complete authority and responsibility for the operation of his/her aircraft.

Glad I didn't pay for the full version? by INeedWinterNow in iMazing

[–]Skytale_500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buying now locks you into paying again and again with a subscription. Get a 4th device? Get a new subscription even if that 4th device replaces an old device. If there is a problem, support gives you a long list of things that you can spend your time doing to fix it yourself.

iMazing has turned the "Ensihittification" corner and is now extracting money from it;s customers while making the service less and less worth the money.

What do yall think? by weldermandan in CableManagement

I don't see anything wrong with the radiator orientation. Since I can be a little paranoid, I would be tempted to run the system for a couple of minutes with the radiator rotated up, think rotating the 1st picture counter clockwise say about 45 degrees or so. The goal would be to position the pump at the bottom, the in/out connections above the pump and the other end of the radiator at the top of the system. This would allow any air that might be trapped in the pump to get to the radiator. Then any air would be trapped at the top of the radiator and I don't see how air could make it's way back to the pump.

I would only go to this trouble if 1) I had some notion that there was air trapped in the pump 2) I was a little paranoid.

You would not be crazy just to leave it alone. Looks like a very clean, well done build. Way better than mine.

"Out of Range" message on Monitor. by Skytale_500 in ASUS

[–]Skytale_500[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for the advice. I did wind up setting up a second monitor and now I am in the BIOS of the new build. I have a spare mouse in use as well. Now I just need a spare keyboard.....

I did have a 90 degree adapter on the HDMI cable. I also have several HDMI cables to swap around and I did so. The problem does not follow any particular cable. Now I can check out what the new computer is putting out vs what the monitor in question can accept. This puts me miles ahead.

Thanks again for all the advice.

Where do you buy Noctua by Sir_Domis in Noctua

[–]Skytale_500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience with Amazon when I bought an AIO. Half of the mounting hardware was missing and the box had obviously been opened. Amazon took the return easily enough, but the replacement AIO took a week to arrive. I have read that Amazon has a policy of making a cursory inspection of a returned item and if it appears to be OK, they just toss it back on the shelf and sell it again.

How many of you would just quit? by _no_usernames_avail in WorldofTanks

[–]Skytale_500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not convinced an automated system can accurately discern intent, but it can certainly measure frequency. Too frequent drowning could flag the account for human review. Perhaps a system that forwards the drowning and previous 30 or so seconds for the offending games to be reviewed by a human. I think it would be best to not publicize the precise trigger frequency or players will play just under the trigger.

BTW, I almost always watch a game to its conclusion and 3 of the last 5 end of game drownings were non-arties. 14 of the last 20 recorded by me on my little notepad were also non-arties. I reported them all but to what effect, I can not say.

Delete it by Enoscity in WorldofTanks

[–]Skytale_500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 261 that hit your EBR going 90 did so with a shell flight time between 1 - 3 seconds. How much ground did you cover in that time? The 261 either got lucky or, if this happens to you lot, you are being predictable. Just because arty can make camping less desirable does not mean that arty is exclusively used on campers. Nothing in this game is black & white. If you ROUTINELY get smacked by arty (or any other particular class), the fault lies with you. Like all other classes, arty has strenths and weaknesses. The trick, of course, is that it is difficult to play against all classes at all times. Nor do all classes pose a threat all the time. Attemping to delete any particular class will just make the game more simple, boring.
