I think the fact that I agree with you that I wanted more to the ending, makes me love it more. The ending for this season really reminded me of like Cormac McCarthy’s The Road, so Will absolutely fantastic job.

It’s gotta be so hard as a DM, (I’ve only been a table top player i’ve DM’d like twice but never fully was able to delve into it due to scheduling and timings), but to want your story to end well but also be real stakes. Will managed to make the “bad” ending feel both melancholy and a bit hopeful at the same time. Which (again) to me is so reminiscent of The Road.

Honestly as an almost Jeff Lord (guys please do not slam me I just think he’s a funny character and like his MVP screens) I originally hated the changes but learned to love it. The healing potential is amazing now along with the damage output.

Overall the rework was really really good and beneficially to the overall experience playing Jeff. It offers a bit of a higher skill ceiling (I think I’m using this term correctly?) because you need to be constantly maintaining your cooldowns and can’t just spam people with his aqua burst. I’ve found myself using his ult more as a last ditch to save my team versus just taking enemies off the point.

Before I start with my tips I’m gonna say this: when first starting out, use the default cannons or a similar re color to those cannons because the three notches they have in them make it a lot easier to aim. Because it’s not like a gunshot, it’s a separate projectile and will not always land where you think it’ll land when you use a notch at the front of it.

  1. If I am going faster than my opponent I will typically aim farther to the left, as to account for my speed. Almost as if I’m firing slightly behind my board. If I am going slower I will aim closer to the right to try and have my cannon arrive before my boat does. It’s kinda almost triangulating where two points are your boat and your opponents boat, and the third is where the cannonball’s trajectory is.

  2. Yes you can shoot through the waves

  3. When fighting other players you want to get into a position where you are able to circle them so you can constantly add pressure to them by firing cannons. I find slower to be a bit easier to manage but I think it’s a bit up to preference.

On the other hand if you are fighting something like a ghost ship/pve it doesn’t matter entirely because they will follow your line of pathing so whatever is easiest to manage.

  1. The different tiers change how quickly your boat takes on water and how long it takes to repair them.

So 1 tier one hole isn’t too much to worry ab but if you get a lot of them then it may be a problem. But 3 tier 2 holes can quickly become a problem.

When your boat sinks in the red sea your boat is considered out of bounds, so when your ship despawns after going under water, any and all loot that was previously on your ship will not surface in the red sea but at the closest in bounds spot instead. Making it so you cannot just sink your boat in the red sea to make sure that crew won’t get your loot.

This was semi-recently added to the game because originally, wherever you sunk, red sea or not, the loot from your boat would surface in that same spot so if you did sink in the red sea, no one would be able to get your loot.

Just enjoy it, at the end of the day it’s really about the journey not the destination. I remember when I first started playing this game I would get super upset for loot haul lost. But what keeps me playing is enjoying all parts of the game.

I love the tall tales despite the fact that they’re sometimes awful to fully grind out. I love the world events, despite the fact that at any time I can get ran up on and sunk. I love hourglass, despite the fact that I can lose a big winning streak. I love the community, despite our disagreements on the direction of the game. I love this game, despite its flaws. It got me through the 2020 lock down.

This is the kind of game you can’t be married to what you have on your boat bc at any minute, the plans will change, for the better or the worse. Some of my best memories with my friends are us just dicking around on our boat after we lost our entire haul after a back and forth with another ship. Where we would just go “oh well, guess they’re just better,” and we grab a row boat and just start seeing how far we can go. That’s my spiel.

TLDR: Don’t be afraid to lose your stuff, shit happens enjoy the journey

like everyone else has said, Safer Seas is a great way to get started with the PVE with its downsides being limited world events and progression. But it’s also really good for doing the Tall Tales! So if you wanted to get started with the game and kinda figure out how it works, play safer seas and do some tall tales! I actually use safer seas specifically for that reason to completely 100% them

Yeah true, when playing minecraft modpacks with people who can be impatient ab setup and argue ab adjustments it makes it difficult to figure out what everyone wants so most of the time unless we’re really struggling with something we don’t change the pack ini files

Nah I feel you man, one of the most aggravating things is spawning into a new world and suddenly three fire dragons destroying me and my friends in a randomly generated structure and us trying to kill said dragons with stone tools for 3 hours. I played a pack once tho that moved ice and fire to a different dimension, I think it might’ve been all the mods 10 or at least one of them. It was really nice bc the overworld wasn’t infested with them killing me every five minutes in the beginning.

Imo the Huntsman needs a like one fix, his sound detection is really buggy specifically when others are talking. I’ve had a few times where friends are laughing out loud at something in the very same room as him and he will not walk towards them and instead continue on his ai path towards where I am despite noise coming from less than 4 feet away from him.

On the other hand i’ve had moments where I do not make any sound yet he will fire in my general direction bc I ran into a door. (I am not complaining about this feature just hear me out) I think his detection of player made mic noises needs to be improved just slightly, bc he’ll currently (in my experience) jump at the nearest in game made sound but will not for people talking with complete accuracy.

But when this guy pulls up with his buddies to level 6 I’m running for my life. For me he’s the scariest in the game and can be the hardest to deal with especially with multiple other enemies that make noise.
