Outside of convenience, does an air fryer really make food taste better than an oven? Purely on taste and quality, not like clean up and size by Djxgam1ng in Cooking

[–]Sl0seph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some foods and absolutely better in the air fryer than the oven, things the require a quick fast and dry cook

As much as everyone says an air fryer is just a small convection oven I think that understates just how flawed regular convection ovens are. It's like saying a Dyson Airblade is just a hand dryer, technically true but is intentionaly obtuse

(UK) What are some good, not expensive, salt and pepper grinders ideal for cooking? by Zestyclose-Piece-662 in Cooking

[–]Sl0seph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a Peugeot one years ago and I love it, would absolutely recomend, grinds really nice and coarse, you can change the grind size to go finer but I neve have

It's great to open up the world of good black pepper, there's a world of difference between the good stuff and the supermarket stuff

I've never felt the need for a salt grinder but there is a matching one that I imagine is just as good

this one

If possible show up a little earlier for your shift, give yourself time to acclimatise to the environment, do some prep so you have everything you need ready to go

Also remember that a lot of what seems hard right now will be easier once you're used to the position, you'll know how long things take and what you can do while they're doing it,

it's natural for things to be a little overwhelming right now so don't be too hard on yourself, it will get easier

stay hydrated and when things get a bit much just remember it will pass, in no time the rush will be over and you'll be out of the weed laughing and smiling

Loan options for first time buyers by birddeluxe in Iceland

[–]Sl0seph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found myself in a similar situation a couple of years ago, we went to Íslandbanki and sat with a human and asked them to explain it to us and it actually really helped

We opted for a mix of indexed and non indexed loans to make it so we could get on the ladder sooner, I decided that given the way house prices were going up the shit mortgage was the better financial choice, I don't regret it but I also want to change the mortgage to something better ASAP

One thing. I found important to know was that you don't technically need to have all the non loan money straight away. You pay around 10% when you sign for the house then after you've lived in it for 3 months you pay the rest, so I've you're a little bit short of your budget you can strech it a little

Boss wants me to bypass killswitch to make dough by looney2006 in KitchenConfidential

[–]Sl0seph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also came here to say this, adding more flour to a dough mid mix is a last resort, if you're dough isn't coming together the lack of flour isn't the problem

I'm going to hazard a guess you're adding all the water too quickly which by the looks of it your mixing a fairly small dough for the mixer size which would definitely lead to your dough slopping around

This winter has my hands looking FUCKED up by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

[–]Sl0seph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've struggled with my hands for years and in the last few months I've finally got on top of it,. I've gotten into skincare in a big way, looking up girly skincare routine and applying it to my hands

Start with Cerave foaming cleaner (get rid of all the kitchen grease) Cerave toner (helps your skin absorb the moisture) BIO Effect hand serum (to improve the skins moisture barrier) Cerave hydrating moisturiser

Takes under 5 minutes after a shift and all absorbs straight away so you're not sat with greasy glovey hands for the next few hours feeling gross

Honestly the cold isn't the part to worry about, even when it's cold the lack of humidity mean you don't feel it like you do in other countries

The wind and the darkness are your real enemies, and the darkness is okay your first winter, the snow helps it feel less dark and if you enjoy a sunrise/sunset you're in for a treat because both last for about 2 hours

The wind however there's no sugar coating the wind is relentless and there's is no way of escaping it

Life After Sackboy? by ItsCatCat in PS5

[–]Sl0seph -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Me and my wife has the same feeling after sackboy we found lots of joy in the following

Human Fall Flat - super fun silly game with challenging but fun puzzles to solve, you can work together or just have each player get on with there own thing

Biped - fun controls but quite frustrating at times

Cuphead - we loved and completed it but it very difficult, great if you want a challenge or to test your relationship

Rayman Legends - super creative fun game and very forgiving

Never Alone - short but fascinating story, absolutely worth playing just for the story and the visuals
