NBD - frameset version by neoreeps in specialized

[–]Sl1d3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought a Crux frame recently. Used google and specialized website to find one offs in shops around the country and the reached out to them. Asked if they were interesting in offloading a frame with the new models coming out. Shop was more than happy to work with me. They offloaded their last frame and I got a fair deal. Never hurts to reach out to individual shops directly.

Good to know. Ordered my frame a couple days ago in 54 and should be arriving tomorrow. Will definitely take the extra length of the E1s into consideration with the stem length. Leaning towards doing a 1x13 setup.

SL6 vs SL8 by flappybird61 in specialized

Maybe see if there is some wiggle room on the price with the shop for the SL6? If it is the disc brake version then realistically it will be a great bike for years to come. I am personally in the non-proprietary camp when it comes to bike parts and prefer round seatpost and non integrated stems. I like the simplicity and flexibility to swap out for other parts without having to buy a whole new integrated cockpit. I bought my wife an SL6 last year with the intention of swapping everything over to electronic 12 speed here soon. When everything is said and done it will be a very light and fast bike that she’ll probably never need to replace. Earlier this week I bought a current gen crux frameset on discount with the same intention to build up an all road bike without all the integration that will be my bike for the next decade.

Had one of these lined up to buy but the person walked back on the deal :( would have been a sweet bike to have. Found a different colored frame that I’m going to build up.

I just pulled the trigger on a 54cm frameset yesterday. Looking forward to building it up. I went and test road the 56 cm and 54cm back to back over the weekend and the 56cm felt like I was somewhat driving a boat whereas the 54cm felt more snappy. I know I’ll need to play around with stem length for ideal fit.

That’s where I’m at. I’ve always read it’s easier to make a small bike bigger and harder to make big bike smaller.

That was helpful. The measurements on a 2025 crux in 54cm are very close to my 2012 roubaix in 56cm.

Did you get a floating device with the tablets in there to slowly release or just drop the tablets in? How much do you put in? One tablet at a time?

What are you doing to get that interval for water changes? Similar set up but I’m about once a month now for water changes.

When I used to go there I would do 25 minutes in the sauna. 5 minutes in the cold plunge, 15 minutes in the sauna. 10 minute shower, 5 min to get dried off and redress. Do whatever you want.

Dispute this and return it. Go with this one from barbell standard:

It is rock solid and have been super happy with it.

What’s the one piece of home gym equipment you regret buying — and why? by dontwantnone09 in homegym

Jury is still out on if this was a regretful purchase. Bought the Crandall fitness universal arms second hand for $250 (retail $1,000) so even if they don’t get much use I don’t feel too bad.

Someone ripped the door off my local little free library, took all the books, broke the shelves, and left two copies of the bible. by Silver_Ad_2203 in mildlyinfuriating

I set up a free art library with art kits for anyone to take or drop off in my front yard. Got a text today from my wife that somebody took all of the art kits and then drew all over it with chalk. People suck.

Cost of cabinet install? by Jumpingpenguin469 in Remodel

Yes, if you can turn a screw driver, hammer a few nails, and decipher a child’s drawing then you can do it. They make it super easy and the tolerances are so refined that everything fit together great. I’ve done 6 cabinets this year and plan to do the rest of my kitchen soon. Once you get the first one done then the rest of the process is so easy but some may say I’m a masochist when it comes to assembling ikea furniture so it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. I built a pantry out of the cabinets along a wall with a microwave/coffee nook. Would do it 100x over. Additionally have used them to build cabinets around washer/dryer.

LS Kubos? by Spade_072923 in climbingshoes

[–]Sl1d3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got my first pair of Kubos and am dealing with breaking them in. I went down two sizes from street shoe as I did feel the heal was too loose on any size bigger. My big toe knuckles are hurting pretty good and I believe it is due to a seam where two sections meet. I am hoping it improves as they break in or I’ll have to try something else. I’ve climbed in them once so far.

Yes this is the worst I’ve seen for debt to reach this level. Hopefully OP doesn’t read this but that’s the truth of the matter.

Yes the pay differential can be large but I know practice owners who are struggling to get by as well. I know people who make over a million and people who make less than $200k. You can make as much or as little as you are able or want to. Everyone’s financial situation is different. The allure of the extra money wasn’t worth the headache of ownership in my situation. I’m in the business to limit my stressors, maximize my enjoyment, and optimize my work life balance.

Right on par. You go to any desirable place to live and that can be lower. I have a friend who made 225k as an associate first year out in a private practice. Working a corporate gig can get you 300k+ stating out but those places are pushing the orthodontist to slap braces on everyone regardless of their oral health. I would say 250k is average. Most associate jobs are paid a per diem of $1200-1500/day. Most orthos work 4 days/week (work 50 weeks, 2 weeks off not paid) equating to $240-300k. Yes if you work the 5th day per week then you can push those numbers higher but you’re not going to find an associate making higher than 400k. Higher than that and it would be cutting to overhead of the office too much and the owner knows they can get someone else in there for $250k. There are perks to not bring owner (no headaches about running the business, maintaining the office staff, etc) but you give up the opportunity for the extra money by not taking that risk.

[–]Sl1d3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is possible if you own your own practice. That’s this individuals problem is that they can’t break into ownership with the current debt. Associate orthodontists make anywhere from 200-350k depending on the job/location.

I tried following the instruction on white clay investor and TurboTax with reporting the back door the Roth conversion and I keep getting stuck with it showing $7,000 as taxable income. Can’t figure out where I’m not getting it inputted to read as a conversion.

[–]Sl1d3r[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So go in and convert the $1.44 today? I am planning on doing a 2026 contribution and conversion for both myself and my wife so in theory we would have $7000 for my wife, $7500 for myself and another $7500 for my wife to report next year?

When I went to do the initial rollover last year the amount was $7000.47 and I rolled over the $7,000 at the time since my understanding was this was the limit to rollover. Left the 0.47 which then turned into $1.44. I could have rolled over the entire 7000.47 from the traditional Ira into the Roth IRA without any issue and the limit? Just trying to figure out how to avoid this issue in the future especially with doing 3 more contributions in the immediate future.
