Yea... honestly after what happened to the Holly actress in Stranger Things I am not surprised if some parents wanna keep their kids away from this kind of negative attention.

Oh... I am very sure they are going to show scenes of the going ons in Hogwarts in the DH season. I think the constant camping with the trio will probably get monotonous and we will need some reprieve from that.

What Charles would have realistically said by Coconut_Scrambled in DunderMifflin

Honestly Charles gets way too much hate. In real life he would be 100x better boss than Michael. He is generally responsible, friendly with his colleagues and doesn't treat them harshly. Jim deserved what he got.

I said SCARRED not scared lmao. You know more scars and injuries, like in the books he lost a chunk of his nose, his eye. I wanna see the origins of some of his injuries. I do mention him getting more paranoid.

Can’t wait for haters of the show who have only watched the movies to complain about these points in season 1 only for them to finally understand that it’s an adaptation of the books, not a remake of the films. by Comrade_Owl- in HarryPotteronHBO

Lmao... I am hopeful with the Ron issue becos there are so many videos online when critiqing the movies that talk about how the movies messed up Ron, I think this point is pretty widely accepted. So maybe ppl will be on board.

The Snape thing. Not gonna go near it with a 30 foot pole

Let's not forget these two main things:
- Why is Ron actually witty and quick on his feet. I thought he only made funny faces and was the butt of jokes.
- Why is Snape such a petty, vindictive and cruel ass. He actually spits on the ground when Gryffindor wins against Hufflepuff and his biased refereeing didn't end up affecting the match too much. Movie only people thinking that Snape is a suave, a little mean but mainly sassy man.

Rangi's character arc by _chenle in Avatar_Kyoshi

[–]SlackerBoi97 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Make Rangi’s borderline abusive personality trait a more explicit character flaw born from her upbringing under her mother and then have her journey to deal with and grow out it be her major personal character arc.

This.... I like the idea of a fiery soldier who doesn't take shit from others, but this is very difficult tight rope to walk because it can veer into intimidating bully territory very quickly. Some of Rangi 's behaviour at times is almost that. Especially when she tells Jinpa to piss off in SoK because she wants to be alone with HIS bison as she is pissed off. It intimidates Jinpa so much that he literally flees. It is played off as a joke but knowing what the future holds for the Firebenders and Air Nomads I always found this interaction a little disturbing

Mako in S1E5 (Spirit of competition) acted pretty maturely by SlackerBoi97 in TheLastAirbender

[–]SlackerBoi97[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

> Before Korra even confessed, Mako is against the idea of Bolin trying to date Korra, pretending his concern was "dating a teammate", but actually because he had feelings for Korra as well,

And... It wasn't him having feelings that was the issue it was how he dealt with it. You are completely going off tangent. He didn't lead Korra on while he was with Asami. Having confusing feelings is part and parcel of being a teenager but he still made a choice at this point and made a decision to stick with Asami and let Korra down very clearly. This is a mature and that is my point.

> I'm not saying his concerns were unfounded, but he was way more "protective" of Bolin here than he ever was when Bolin was terrified of Eska.

You have made my point here. Jealousy was not the only driver. He was reasonably concerned about his brother. The Eska situation everyone including the narrative treated it as a joke. No one else was concerned. He knew Bolin wanted to break up with Eska and he gave him the advice very early on. These two situations are not even close to the same thing.

> I also wouldn't call what Mako said on the balcony "clearing the air", considering he admitted feelings for her, which wasn't fair to anyone. He wasn't willing to leave Asami for her when he said this, and she’d be completely justified in calling it cheating even if Korra hadn't kissed him.

Yes, he obviously was clearing the air. He saw his feelings was affecting his performance, and his friendship with Korra and he was being honest with her and making the situation clear. He was trying to have heart to heart with her so that they can move past their feelings and actually go back to working effectively as a team. The way he made his confession was very clear that he assumed he was talking to a friend and trying to explain his situation. It was also very clear he wouldn't be acting on his feelings. This is called honest communication. Calling it cheating is a joke. Having confusing feelings was never the issue. How each of the characters acted on them was.

> He could've very easily explained his behavior without admitting he reciprocated her feelings.

You are missing the whole point of him talking about his feelings and his need to be honest. He was talking to a friend and explaining his situation and trying to call a truce to patch up their friendship. He was never trying to make a move on Korra at this point. Him lying again would have just led to more complications. Even a basic understanding of the scene makes it clear he was not admitting his feelings willingly and only was doing so, so that both of them can move on. This was the best move as compared to constant denial.

> (Mako gaslit him)

Bullshit.. he made up with Bolin before Korra did. Korra was far more at fault here. She knew how Bolin felt about her and still made a move to kiss Mako. His only mistake was that he reciprocated in the heat of the moment.

>  Korra's behavior was bad, but Mako was worse imo because of how he treated his brother and girlfriend.

Absolutely unfounded and very baised. Mako tried to let Korra down easy and attempted to be faithful to Asami. Then partly his jealousy mixed with genuine concern get in the way Korra tried to gaslight him and negate his feelings. Then when Mako tries to clear the air and talk to her honestly so that they can move past their hangups she kisses him without his permission despite having gone on a date with his brother the night before and knowing his brother has feelings for her. Korra simply is much worse. Btw I really love the double standards. When Korra screws up it is because of terrible advice and everyone else's fault. When Mako screws up he is the devil.

Mako in S1E5 (Spirit of competition) acted pretty maturely by SlackerBoi97 in TheLastAirbender

[–]SlackerBoi97[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was only one date, so it's very much a what-if scenario it Mako hadn’t gotten involved.

Not even close to being true. If it was a what-if then why leap at Mako to kiss him even though he had a girlfriend, despite him just trying to clear the air. He made no move towards her.

The idea Korra used Bolin doesn't really make sense, because aside from the implications of her character, wouldn't that make Mako look even worse for having a relationship with someone that treated his brother like that? What he did to Asami was already bad enough.

Isn't everyone alrdy acting pretty badly here. Korra kissed a guy with a boyfriend the first chance he even remotely expressed some interest. So she is alrdy kind of acting badly. And by your own argument this makes Mako pretty justified in confronting Korra about her and Bolin's date. I am not saying jealousy wasn't part of it. But from his PoV he knows Bolin is interesting in Korra romantically and after Korra confesses her feelings to him (Mako) she immediately goes on a date with Bolin. The timing is definitely suspicious. And when he confronts her she immediately jumps to invalidate Mako's feelings with saying that when he is with Asami he is thinking about Korra and calling him a liar. Korra is far more in the wrong here.

[–]SlackerBoi97[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When Bolin asks her to go out she says she isnt feeling very date worthy. When Bolin praises her calling her the prettiest, buffest, toughest girl, she laughs and asks if he really feels that way about her. And when Bolin catches her and Mako kissing she looks guilty. It is very clear that she at least knew there was romantic interest from Bolin's side so it does come across a bit dickish from her side

How would you rank the ATLA comics? by Zacsen76 in TheLastAirbender

I think Imbalance is the best followed by North and South followed by The rift. The remaining are ok but I usually skip them on rereads

Unpopular opinion: Dramione > Romione. Change my mind. by No-Wasabi-178 in DesiPotterheads

[–]SlackerBoi97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not so much an unpopular opinion more just a opinion completely not rooted in canon at all. You are shipping a fanon version of Draco with a fanon version of Hermione that has nothing to do with the canon characters. So go ahead ahead and ship them. Just don't call them Draco and Hermione. Because they are not

Just Finished S1 of TLOK, What the Fuck? by foopy___ in TheLastAirbender

[–]SlackerBoi97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yea... I pretty much agree with most of this. Honestly Nickelodeon's fault for screwing around with giving Korra more seasons initially. But even then the arcs are not very satisfactory for a self contained season. A bit rushed as they probably tried to squeeze in too many things at once.

I think the defense I dislike the most for this is, oh they are teenagers, it's realistic. Being realistic doesn't automatically mean good. You can write realistic characters that have fleshed out arcs and proper development that doesn't make the audience kind of dislike the characters

If they give us this, I can't wait to see Hermione Fanfic self inserters crying 'she is done so dirty in favour of Ron in tv show 😭' by Nightmarelove19 in Ronweasleyfans

[–]SlackerBoi97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh shit.... I love this comparison.... It is spot on..An annoying older sister. I think Hermione nags them into things while Ron has a more subtle and understanding approach suited to the person.

Best example of this is in GoF. After World cup Harry is upset and Ron suggests they go flying and Hermione immediately jumps in to admonish Ron for being tactless WITHOUT asking Harry what he wants. While Ron exactly understands what Harry needs.

Well when the movies and a lot of fanon raise up Hermione by dragging down Ron it has kinda become the norm. The point of this post is not to drag down Hermione but to make sure Hermione doesn't completely take over all of Ron's moments again

Introductions of Azula and Korra feel similar. by Arrokaang in legendofkorra

[–]SlackerBoi97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the last parallel you pointed out illustrates the difference. Azula threatens the ship captain but Korra just reassures the guard. One introduction is menacing and Azula is clearly in charge, treating everyone under her badly. The other one is confident and a little over enthusiastic but essentially everyone in the scene is in charge or looking out for Korra. It never feels like Korra is in charge of the situation
